Chapter 11 - A Mother's Concern

Chapter 11 - A Mother's Concern

"Principal McCann," Kristine began, her voice clear and calm. "I know that David started the fight, but Christopher provoked him." She was pleading for leniency for David. David stood no chance against Christopher. Christopher was the ace of the school's basketball team, and he had an advantage in this situation. The principal was known for his love of sports, and Christopher was one of the star players.

Christopher denied all accusations. "That's a lie," he spat out. "This guy attacked me out of nowhere. He's just some creep that got pissed because I told him to stay away from Kristine.”

The twins knew that when it came to dealing with adults, it was best to be formal and use their proper names. It was seen as disrespectful to use their nicknames.

The principal looked at the three of them, his expression grave as he listened. It was obvious to everyone that Christopher was lying. The fact that Kristine was defending David so fervently was proof enough. But he couldn’t ignore the fact that the twin’s family was a major donor to the school. In the end, he decided to let both boys off with a warning.

"Based on the testimony from witnesses," he said, glancing at Kristine. "I will let you two off with a warning. In the meantime, I expect all of you to behave yourselves. This is a prestigious private academy, and we do not tolerate violence or bullying. “

After hearing the verdict, Kristine turned to David and offered him a small smile, letting him know he was in the clear.

David smiled back at her but he couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. He was thankful that Kristine was on his side. Thanks to her, the principal was willing to listen to his side of the story instead automatically taking Christopher's word for it. He was grateful because he knew that without her, he would have been completely alone in this situation.

Principal McCann nodded and dismissed them, and the three of the students left the office. As he watched them leave, he hoped that this was the last of it.

The high school basketball playoffs were about to begin and principal McCann hoped that Christopher wouldn't cause any more trouble. He was the star of the basketball team after all.

With swollen eyes, David looked at Kristine with reluctance as they stepped outside the office. He said goodbye to her before turning and walking away. He knew that Christopher was right. There was no way he could ever be suitable for someone as amazing as Kristine. She had done so much for him, expecting nothing in return

As David walked away, Kristine couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt. She knew that David didn't deserve the poor treatment he had received.

While off to the side, Christopher was busy checking the points he had gained from this incident.

Love Points: 7520

Hatred Points: 5975

"Wow, that's a lot of Love Points," Christopher thought, scratching his head. "Looks like Kris's lover boy really liked her a lot. I might have made a mistake in scaring him off."

"Good acting, sis," Christopher said to Kristine, still believing that she was putting on an act in front of David and the principal. Unbeknownst to him, Kristine was actually being genuine.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Kristine turned and shouted at Christopher. "What was that stunt? You sounded like a young master from a Chinese web novel."

"Come on, Kris. It worked, didn’t it? We need Love Points and Hatred Points and Daniel was just an easy target," Christopher defended him. "He's a nobody.”

"That's not the point!" Kristine exclaimed, frustrated with his lack of awareness. She believed they should have standards when obtaining Love and Hatred points. Provoking and beating up Daniel crossed the line. "Why didn't you attack someone who deserves it? There are plenty of jerks at this school in need of a beating."

"Why are you still pretending to be an angel?" Christopher asked, his face turning serious. "Like your savior complex is any more genuine. That was a great act you put on for Daniel. The Love Points just started piling in.”

"I'm not acting. I genuinely care about people. You only care about getting more Hatred Points. ”

"Oh please, you're no better than me.," Christopher scoffed. "You just love being the center of attention and getting all those Love Points. What was it they called it? Virtue signaling?”

"I'm not virtue signaling, Chris," Kristine insisted again, her voice full of conviction. "I want to be a better person. Our past lives were miserable, and I don't want to go back to that.

"You're deluding yourself," Christopher said, rolling his eyes. "You just want people to pay attention to you. We were nobodies in our past lives, and nobody would spare us a second glance. But now, with our good looks and charm, you can't resist the attention. You're addicted to it."

“Oh, shut up." Kristine had enough, flipping Christopher off before storming away. "You're such a jackass."

But his words still stuck in Kristine's mind. What if he was right? She had always thought of herself as a kind and caring person, but maybe Christopher was right. Maybe she was just seeking attention and Love Points. She couldn't deny that she enjoyed being adored by others, and she couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment when she gained Love Points.

"Hey, at least stay for a bit," Christopher yelled as his sister walked away. "I'm going to start the Devil Lottery. We got a lot of Hatred points from that fight and the drama in the principal's office.

Christopher started the Devil Lottery menu and watched as the 5000 points disappear. He decided to go for 25 sets of 2 random books, rather than purchasing books he had already won before.

His eyes widened in excitement when he saw his prizes.

Devil Lottery

You have used 5000 Hatred Points

x25 Judo Skill Book: Increases proficiency in judo

x25 Knife Fighting Skill Book: Increases proficiency in knife-fighting

"See, Kris," Christopher yelled into the distance as he braced for the incoming pain. "It was worth it."

Kristine flipped him off again, her hand raised in the air as she continued walking. The pain from system rewards didn't even slowed her stride as memories of military knife and judo lessons were uploaded into their minds.

"Must be on her period," Christopher thought as he shrugged. He couldn't help but feel annoyed by her attitude. Kristine had no idea how dangerous this world was. The stuff he had read about this new world was shocking and he knew that he had to be ruthless if he wanted to keep them both safe. He needed to be willing to do whatever it took to obtain points, even if it meant hurting others.

"And who cares about the feelings of a bunch of nobodies?" Christopher thought to himself. "We'll probably never see them again after we graduate.

A day passed since the incident with David, and Kristine was keeping a close eye on Christopher to stop him from bullying the anyone else that confessed to her. Of course, this wasn't too difficult, as there were no more boys confessing their love to her. Word of Christopher's brutal beating of the last boy to confess to his sister had spread quickly throughout the school, and videos of the fight scene were being shared across campus and online.

Comments on the video ranged from praising Christopher's Muay Thai skills to inappropriate comments aimed at Kristine. Some people were even trying to start a countdown to her 18th birthday.

"Is that Muay Thai?" one comment asked.

"Who is that handsome blond boy? I want to have his babies," another comment gushed.

"The fight started because the scrawny kid was bothering the blond boy's sister. I don't blame him," someone else wrote.

"The poster above me is a liar. Then why would his sister attack him?" another commenter argued.

"A toad wants to eat swan? What kind of saying is that?" a person wondered.

"I think it's an Eastern saying," someone theorized. "Are there any refugees in here?"

Psi Beast attacks were getting worse in the Asian and European continents, and many refugees had been immigrating here recently.

"Damn, did you see how high she kicked?" someone else marveled. “Anyone got a different angle?”

"Anyone got doxx on her?" another comment asked.

"Damn she's cute. Did anyone get her birthday? I need to make a countdown to her 18th birthday," someone else declared.

"UUOOO, I don't think I can wait," another comment read.

A blonde-haired woman with long, prehensile hair shattered an empty coffee cup as she watched the same video as a hologram projected from her Psion identifier bracelet.

The hologram was crystal clear, despite being projected into the air by a tiny bracelet. This was because the identifier bracelet Psions wore was not an ordinary accessory. In fact, identifier bracelets worn by Psions were state-of-the-art smartwatches with features unavailable to most consumers. It was the only way to convince Psions to wear a device with a GPS tracker and heartbeat monitor.

This woman was Nicole Williams, the mother of the twins, who was currently sitting in a large office on the top floor of a company building.

She wore a business suit and was currently the acting CEO of Phoenix Global, a weapons manufacturer owned by her father, Simon Oscar. He was getting old and suffering from old injuries, so he entrusted her with the role of temporary CEO.

Nicole had reluctantly agreed to keep her father's company safe from vultures, but she knew she would be forced to neglect her children. With her husband in the army and her working as a CEO, she was worried her children would stray from the right path. This video of her twins fighting and yelling profanities at each other only confirmed her fears.

"Oh no, my babies," Nicole cried as she used her prehensile hair to pick up the broken ceramic shards. "Mommy is so sorry."

Nicole blamed herself, thinking about how parental neglect may have led to this incident. She also couldn't believe that her children didn't tell her about this incident. Something had to be done about this before it was too late.
