Chapter 3 - A Loving Family

Chapter 3 - A Loving Family

As Christopher read the final line of the message "Link with Kristine Williams has been created," he could feel that he was somehow connected to his new twin sister now.

Suddenly, a female voice spoke in his mind. "Why am I linked to this ugly boy?"

Chris's heart raced as he sent a reply to the voice. "Who are you?"

"My new name is Kristine but you can call me Kris," the girl replied. "You must be my stupid twin brother."

"Yep, I'm Christopher. Just call me Chris," he responded, while ignoring her insults. "So, we're twins, huh? I guess that makes us siblings."

Honestly, he felt surprised how such his new twin sister could put together such big sentences at such a young age. He had a question that he really wanted to ask her.

"Could it be that you also reincarnated into a new body with memories of your past life?" He asked, wondering she was in the same predicament as him.

"Yes, I was born a girl but I'm not the same gender as before," Kristine answered reluctantly.

"Oh, how did you die? Was it an accident or murder?" Christopher asked, curious about her past life.

"It was an accident," Kristine replied. "I died saving a boy on a tricycle from a crushed by a giant pipe." She went on to describe the incident in detail, and as Chris listened, he grew paler. The situation she was describing was exactly the same one he had been in before he died.

Suddenly, Christopher remembered the message about the missing half of his soul, and he realized what that meant. If Kris was the missing half, then she must have the same memories as him. Thankfully, he knew of a way to confirm this for certain.

"TeaTime99. Does that name ring a bell?" Christopher asked.

"How do you know my username!? Are you one of my antis?" Kristine replied, her voice filled with panic. "Did you follow me to my next life?"

She sounded upset and a bit scared, which made Christopher feel sorry for causing such a reaction. But at least now he knew for certain that she had the same memories as him.

"No, because that was also my username," Christopher said. "The password is Hampton!2010 and we were born on July 8, 1995. We are the same person."

Kristine gasped and sat upright in crib, wide-eyed with surprise. She had finally realized what the system meant by the missing half of her soul. "No way! Why were you born as the correct gender, when we both have the same past life memories as each other?" She looked down at her infant body and scowled.

"I think we were reborn as twins because of the two systems trying to connect to our soul," Christopher thought to himself. "Our soul got split up so the two systems could be connected to us."

Kristine thought for a moment. "That makes sense, I guess," she said, "but why did I have to be a girl? We could've been twin brothers."

Christopher thought for a moment before responding.

"Maybe the system decided that girls would have an easier time gathering love points than guys," he said. "You remember OnlyFans, don't you?"

"I do not like what you're implying, but yes, I remember," Kristine replied, her tone cold.

"It's just an example," Christopher said hurriedly. "Besides, didn't you see how hot our new mom is? Getting love points will be a piece of cake for you in the future."

Kristine remembered the woman who visited them, and her face went red with embarrassment as she thought of their mother's beauty. "Yeah, yeah, I get it," she said. "And sorry for calling you ugly earlier."

Christopher chuckled. "It's all good," he said. "So, what do we do now? We have this system and we have to gather points, but I'm not sure how to go about it."

Kristine thought for a moment before responding. "I think we should try to gather points in a way that doesn't go against our morals," she said. "We don't want to end in prison or worst.”

Christopher agreed. The twins spent the next few hours brainstorming ways to gather points in the future.

The sound of footsteps and chatter filled the hospital hallway as Garrett and Nicole walked together, hand in hand. "I'm sorry I couldn't be here for the birth of our kids, Nicole," Garrett apologized, his voice was strong and energetic despite the visible fatigue on his face. "But I had to interrogate some insurgents."

Strands of grey hairs dotted his brown hair, but his smile remained the same as he looked at his beautiful blond wife. The demands and stress of his position as a general in the military taken his toll on him.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Nicole pouted, still recovering from the birth of their twins. "It's okay, Garrett. I understand. I'm just glad you're here now."

She glanced at the black leather gloves on Garrett's hands. He wore them almost constantly. She knew about her husband's psionic ability to read emotions and thoughts through touch and how valuable it was to the military, but she also knew the sacrifices that came with it. He had missed the births of their children due to his work as an interrogator.

As they arrived at the door to their maternity ward, the nurse opened the door and greeted them.

"Welcome back, Mrs. Williams," she said. "And who is this handsome man?"

"Hello," Garret replied. "I'm her husband, Brigadier General Williams. Thank you for taking care of my wife and children."

"Ah, so you must be the proud father of Kristine and Christopher," the nurse said. "Congratulations! They're both so adorable."

The trio made their way down the hall towards the nursery, where Kristine and Christopher were lying on their hospital cribs.

They were both wrapped in blankets. Their blond hair and gold eyes drew the attention of anyone who saw them. Some of the hospital staff had to fight off the urge to reach out to the newborn babies.

Garrett asked if he could hold his son, and the nurse handed Chris over to him.

As he held the baby in front of him, examining his features and blond locks, Garrett exclaimed as he turned to his wife, "He looks like he's going to be a looker. I hope he grows up to be as good-looking as you are, my darling."

Nicole's cheeks turned red with embarrassment as she watched her husband praise the baby. Her blond prehensile hair came to life, curling to hide her rosy cheeks.

Her prehensile hair was the result of her psionic ability. It wasn't useful for combat and it did help with household tasks and paperwork. Unfortunately, she had so many servants that she rarely had the chance to put them to use. Still, it was useful for covering her face when she was embarrassed.

His son, Christopher looked drowsy, so Garrett carefully placed him back in the crib before turning to the nurse and asking, "How long until the kids can go home?"

"We'll have to wait for the pediatricians' report," the nurse replied, "but you should be able to take them home tomorrow if there are no complications."

"Do you want to hold your daughter?" the nurse asked Garrett.

"No, I've got to get back to work," Garrett said as he leaned to give his wife a kiss goodbye.

The nurse frowned, but she didn't say anything. She didn't want to upset this man. Still, she couldn't help but wonder how this man managed the resist the cuteness of his daughter.

"Please stay safe, honey. These children need their father." Nicole said worriedly.

"Of course, honey," Garrett reassured his wife. "Now, you must try to relax. This is only temporary."

With a hug, Garrett took his leave, leaving Nicole to gently pull Kris close against her side, holding her in a motherly embrace. She didn’t want her daughter to feel neglected.

"Don't worry, dear. He'll come around eventually," the nurse assured her.

"I'm used to it," Nicole replied, cradling Kristine in her arms. "He's just a very busy man. He works in the military, and his work is important."

Her long, prehensile hair danced in front of the daughter's eyes, garnering a curious look from the infant girl. The little girl grasped one of the strands of her mother's hair, pulling at it with her tiny hands.

Nicole smiled lovingly down at her daughter and stroked her forehead tenderly before placing her back into her crib.

Garrett couldn't shake off the feeling of guilt as he left the hospital and headed back to the military base. He knew that his job as an interrogator was important, but he also knew that he had missed out on the birth of his children because of it.

He had wanted to be there for Nicole, to hold her hand and support her as she brought their babies into the world, but duty had called and he had been forced to leave her side.

As he walked through the base, he was greeted by his fellow soldiers, who all congratulated him on the birth of his children.

He thanked them and tried to put on a brave face, but he couldn't shake off the feeling of regret. He had a duty to serve his country but he also knew that he had let his family down.

As he sat in his office, staring at the photos of his wife and children on his desk, he made a promise to himself. He knew that he couldn't continue to miss out on the important moments in his children's lives.
