The Day I Hated You
Chapter 9 - The Insecurities

Chapter 9 - The Insecurities

The next day, I found myself sitting in class while Tevin went outside with some friends. After a while, Tevin suddenly appeared out of nowhere, grabbed my hand, and led me outside.

"Where are you taking me?" I asked, curious.

"Just come with me, you'll see," he replied with a mischievous smile.

Intrigued, I followed him to the entrance where he pointed out a girl to me.

"What do you think of her? Isn't she pretty?" he asked eagerly.

I looked at him skeptically. "What game are you playing, Tevin?"

"No game, I promise. She's the girl I like. What do you think of her?"

"What do you mean 'like'? What about the girl from English class?"

"She's no longer in the picture. Now, it's all about this girl."

"Wait a minute, Tevin. Yesterday you were heartbroken and now you're falling for someone else?"

"That was just a passing infatuation. This is the real deal. Please support me. Should I go and talk to her?"

I was starting to understand Tevin's fickle nature when it came to love. I nodded and smiled at him. "Yes, go ahead and talk to her. Good luck." That was all I could say at that moment.

"Thank you, my dear friend. You're the best," he said, expressing his gratitude before walking towards the girl.

I really hope Tevin finds someone who truly cares for him and shows him what love is. I remember saying that to myself before heading back to class. Time flew by, and before we knew it, we were seniors. I started getting closer to my professors, who always seemed to help me out more than anyone else in the class. They treated me like their own child. As for Tevin, his attitude changed after facing rejection. It was hard for me to deal with. In terms of academics, I was just average in chemistry, but Tevin always surprised me with his good grades in exams. However, I could tell that the teachers didn't really like him, probably because of his parents and his behavior. Despite numerous warnings, he still rode his bike to college.

One day, Tevin's father showed up at the college looking for him. He was called in by the teachers and scolded in front of everyone. I felt so anxious and wanted to comfort him, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. When Tevin walked back to class, he glanced at me before leaving again. I hesitated for a moment before grabbing our bags and following him. All eyes were on him as he made his way to our usual spot and sat down.

"Rehaan is all the parents like this".

"Like what?"

"Like mine. They don't let me do what I like and they hate me".

I sat near him Tevin "Rehaan, I understand that you're feeling frustrated with your parents right now. It can be tough when they don't seem to understand or support your interests. However, it's important to remember that they love you and want what's best for you. Maybe they just have a different perspective or are worried about your well-being".

Tevin scoffed, "Best for me? Yeah right. I'm miserable. They don't even understand me."

Rehaan looked at Tevin and replied, "You know, when I first met you, I found you annoying. But as we talked, I realized you're actually quite interesting. And when you opened up about your struggles, it made me see that you have a pure soul"- Rehaan paused and continued, "Have you ever told your parents what you like and what you want? I bet you haven't, because you're scared. You need to be open with them."

Tevin shook his head, "No, Rehaan. They won't understand."

Rehaan challenged him, "Are they really not understanding, or do you just not want them to understand? If you don't tell them, how can they possibly understand, you idiot?"

Tevin looked confused, "What you're saying doesn't make any sense."

Rehaan sighed, "Tevin, you're smart in many ways, but when it comes to your own life, you're clueless. You've never told your parents how much you hate the things they've done to you. I always tell my parents the truth, no matter what. Start being honest. Open up your mind. I promise things will change."

He gazed at me with the same longing he always reserves for something he desires deeply.

"Rehaan, do you ever wonder why I find solace in gazing at the sky?

"I'm not sure, why is that?"

"Because it brings me a sense of peace and happiness. The sky is always above me, so whenever I feel down, I can simply look up and find comfort."

"Oh, really? That's quite interesting. I'm glad that something brings you joy," I replied, turning my gaze towards the sky and smiling.

"Rehaan..."

"Yes?"

"Besides the sky, you're the one who truly makes me feel better."

I was taken aback and locked eyes with Tevin. He had a smile on his face.

"I've always dreamt of marrying someone who resembles the sky. Should I marry you, so I can experience a lifetime of tranquility?" he asked, his gaze fixed on me.

I was stunned and stared back at him, unable to look away. He didn't break eye contact for even a second.
