Chapter 33 - The Truth Behind The Text

“What should we do next?” Maahi wonders

"I'm not sure. I think it's a good time for Rehaan and Tevin to reconcile." Sam suggests

"You're right. Hopefully they can work things out." Maahi agrees

“Me too”. Sam nods

Maahi's phone rings. She answers and sees it's her uncle

"Why did you call, Uncle?" She asks politely

Maahi, can you come to the station now? We've caught the culprit. He informs

"Really, Uncle? We'll be there right away." She says, hangs up, and turns to Sam

"Uncle called. The stalker has been caught. Will you come with me to the police station?" She asks

"Of course." He replies

"Should we tell your brother, Maahi?" He inquires

"I'll inform him later. Let him focus on Tevin for now."

Sam nodded and they both arrived at the station. She asked for permission and entered her uncle's room.

"Uncle," she called out as she walked closer to him.

"Maahi," he replied, scanning the room. "Where is Rehaan?"

"I haven't told him yet. I'll inform him later. So, I came with Sam today."

"Alright, Maahi, come with me. Sam, you come too. They are in the other room," he instructed, leading them to another room.

She entered and saw a girl's face. "Krishna," Maahi called out.

Krishna looked at Maahi and then at Sam.

Maahi approached her. "Krishna, why are you here?" she asked, glancing at her uncle. "Uncle, what's going on?"

"Maahi, Krishna is the mastermind behind all of this," Uncle revealed.

"What?!" Maahi exclaimed in disbelief. "No way."

"Listen, Maahi. Krishna hacked your phone and sent messages to Sam, as well as many other boys. And her friend Akshay helped her with all of it," Uncle explained.

Maahi turned to Krishna with teary eyes and asked, "Krishna, is this true?"

Krishna responded defiantly, "What if I did? So what?"

Maahi was shocked to witness this side of her best friend. She felt completely drained. Sam noticed her distress and comforted her by holding her hand.

"Why did you do this, Krishna? We were good friends," Maahi questioned.

"What friends?" Krishna retorted, giving Maahi a piercing stare. "You were never my friend. I never saw you as one," she shouted.

Maahi couldn't comprehend what she was hearing. "What are you saying?"

"I hated you, Maahi. You took the man that I loved," Krishna confessed.

"What the hell are you talking about?" Maahi exclaimed, utterly bewildered.

Krishna was furious, "You have no idea. I'm not talking about Kiran, our senior who you complained about, who made you angry. I loved him deeply. But he was head over heels in love with you, even though you complained about him. When I confessed my feelings to him, he confessed his love for you. You, Maahi, who never even came close to my beauty. How dare you? I've always been pretty, but I couldn't get Kiran to love me. And you, with your innocent face, making people fall for you. I despised it, I wanted everyone to hate you. I did everything to make sure everyone would hate you, Maahi."

"Why Krishna, just for one man. You did this," Maahi asks.

"Yeah, I picked several guys from our college and sent them seductive messages, making it seem like you were a nymphomaniac. That's why our seniors started hating you. Didn’t you ever wonder why seniors suddenly started hating you. I wanted them to hate you. Even Kiran, he despised you. He thought you were a girl with no morals," Krishna admits.

"You were the one behind all of this. How could you?" Maahi cries, feeling betrayed.

"Maahi, Krishna and her friend hacked your phone and sent messages to many boys, mostly flirtatious ones. One of them was Sam. Her plan was to gather everyone in one place and make you look like a person with no character. But you ruined her plan by sending a message to Sam beforehand," Uncle explains.

Krishna laughs. "And I'm glad that so many people hate you now," Krishna says, laughing hysterically.

"You did all of this without knowing that I liked Maahi. And I knew that she wouldn't send messages like that. That's why I wanted to meet Maahi. But when I met her, I realized she was a victim," Sam interrupts Krishna and reveals.

Krishna didn't expect that from Sam. "You loved her."

"I love her. And I promise I will make sure everyone knows your true face, Krishna," Sam declares, wrapping his arms around Maahi and holding her tightly. "Uncle, I'm leaving with Maahi. She doesn't look okay. And as for Krishna, she should pay for her wrongdoings. It doesn't matter if she's a girl, she did something wrong and she should be punished," he says. Uncle nods in agreement. Sam nods back and walks out of the room with Maahi.
