Rehaan inquires, "Why did you phrase it that way?"
Maahi responds, "Uncle phoned this afternoon and I accompanied Sam to the police station."
"Why didn't you inform me?"
"I apologize, brother. I thought it would be nice for you both to spend time together at that moment."
"Hmm. It's alright. So, what happened next?"
"Brother," she calls out, grasping his hands, "I never imagined seeing her there."
"Who?"
"Krishna," Maahi replied, her eyes welling up with tears as she mentioned the name.
"Which Krishna?" Rehaan probed further.
"My closest friend," Maahi responded.
"The one who visits our house?" Rehaan clarified.
"Yes," Maahi confirmed.
"Tell me all the details about what she did," Rehaan requested.
Maahi spills all the details at the police station, leaving Rehaan in disbelief. He couldn't fathom what he had just heard and it made him angry. "I can't believe it. She seemed so innocent, who would have thought she had such evil thoughts in her mind?"
"Same here, brother. I loved her so much and considered her my best friend. But she..." Maahi trails off, unable to finish her sentence.
"She doesn't deserve a loyal friend like you," he says, shaking his head.
"When she first told me she never saw me as a friend, I thought..." Maahi starts, her voice trailing off.
"Maahi, never think like that. You know what? She's the one who's at fault here. It's alright to feel sad or angry for not realizing her true intentions, but don't blame yourself for anything," Rehaan assures her.
Maahi nods in agreement and gives him a hug. "You're right, brother."

"Ugh." Rehaan lets out a loud sigh. "Life can be so unpredictable, like a movie," he says.
"Yeah, unexpected things are happening," Maahi adds.
"Doesn't matter. We have each other, no matter what," Rehaan says with a smile.
"We have each other," Maahi replies, smiling back. "Brother, lend me your shoulder."
"Sure," he says, sitting up straight. Maahi rests her head on Rehaan's shoulder.
"I feel so much better now."
"That's good to hear, my mischievous sister," Rehaan says.
"Yeah. Brother, what are you going to do about Tevin?"
"I'll just ignore him, maybe for a long time."
"That's good, but do you think Tevin will do the same?"
"I don't know. But based on his personality, he won't easily give up," Rehaan said.
"Should I give him a beating then, brother?" Maahi confidently asks.
"Maahi..." Rehaan calls her, unable to believe what his little sister just said.
"Aww, I'm just kidding," Maahi reassures him.
"Alright, I'll go and prepare for my exam," Rehaan says as he stands up.
"Take some rest. There's plenty of time, brother," Maahi advises.
"I know, but I've wasted many days without studying. I want to focus on my dream," Rehaan says with a smile.
"Alright then, I'm going out for a ride to clear my mind."
"Do you want company?"
"No, brother, I want to go alone. But if I feel lonely, I'll call you, don't worry."
"Hmm. Have a safe trip," he says.
"Alright, bye," Maahi says and walks outside.
I'm sorry, brother, for lying. I'm not going to relax. I'm going to see Tevin, she says herself as she takes her scooter and drives away.
