Chapter 30.5 : Extermination Part 2

Chapter 30.5 : Extermination Part 2

In the end, it took Mikhail and his men just under a day to fully test and eliminate all those that had been in contact with the monster.

In total, 173 people had been suspected and killed, with 138 of them turning out to have been tainted by monsters.

Of course, although Mikhail did not enjoy senseless slaughter, he would much rather kill ten innocent people than let even a single person that had been tainted escape, Diana, of course, was of a very similar opinion, which allowed this operation to go in the way it had gone.

Interestingly though, not a single vampire or stand user had actually been tainted by the monsters, although many vampires had been in contact with the monster, making Mikhail theorize that both vampires, and stand users seemed to be resistant to the influence of the monsters, at least to some degree.

In the end, all the monsters were then turned into ash, which was mixed with sand, diluted, and finally turned into a block of concrete, which was then buried over twenty meters below ground in a secure location.

Finally, there existed a single bright spot in all of these troubles, the fact that thanks to this operation, Mikhail and Diana were able to discover interesting observations about the pseudo monsters, as well as the monsters themselves by relation.

First, pseudo monsters could survive up to a temperature of around 850 degrees, where they begin dying.

At around 950 degrees, the heat is enough to completely turn the entire body of the monster into ash.

Although extremely high compared to humans, this resistance was just half of that of one of the True Monsters, who Mikhail knew would begin burning at just over 2000 degrees.

Second, the pseudo monsters can be killed if their both their brains and hearts, as well as over fifty percent of their entire bodies were destroyed, unlike the true monsters who needed their bodies to be completely shredded into small pieces to die.

Finally though, even though this might seem obvious at first glance, Mikhail still tested the resistance of the pseudo monsters to both human diseases, and chemical weapons.

In the end, like the vampires, the pseudo monsters were able to survive every single disease and chemical weapon that Mikhail could throw at them with ease, other than cancer.

As he was now in the early stages of his research, and did not know much about the monsters, Mikhail was not willing to risk it, and transplant cancers onto them.

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

Unlike the other diseases, cancer had to be transplanted in an operation, which would take a lot of time that Mikhail did not have at the moment.

In the next few days after Diana's visit, the emotions that Mikhail and Diana felt seemed to be the opposite of each other.

Every single day, no matter what she did, and no matter how she guarded herself, one, or even several monsters would pop out to attack Diana, seemingly on a schedule.

Although Diana could kill most monsters with ease, and would only struggle a little bit at more tricky monsters, like the one she had encountered on her way here, the constant attacks made her feel a sense of threat that she had yet to feel in her life.

Instinctually, Diana knew it, although individually, the monsters were much weaker than her, whatever had sent them to hunt her, or whatever was controlling them, was almost certainly not as weak as them.

Though this was just Diana's intuition.

As such, Diana began searching for ways to avoid the attacks coming her way, which was how she found herself in her current situation.

...

As she opened her eyes and looked at the walls of the concrete blocks she was currently in, Diana couldn't help but let out a faint sigh.

After a few failed attempts at hiding from the monster, Diana then placed herself in the middle of a completely solid block of concrete, without any cracks to the outside world, which was now surrounded by a steel shell.

Because of the lack of hole in this place, the opening that Diana was in lacked any and all oxygen, making her one of the few being on earth that could survive in this place, other than some random stand user that did not oxygen, or so Diana thought.

Interestingly though, at this very moment, a small hand holding a dagger silently appeared behind Diana's head, emerging from thin air, followed by a similarly small monster.

In a ruthless swing, with strength far beyond that of normal humans, the monster swung the dagger right into the back of Diana's head.

Sadly though, the instant the little monster swung the dagger, an extremely tiny bit of sound emerged from it, causing Diana's hand to suddenly appear behind her head, and catch the dagger, as well as the little monster.

The instant Diana caught the dagger, a slightly surprised look appeared on her face before she crushed the body of the monster.

What surprised Diana was not the monster itself, rather, the dagger the monster was holding.

But although Diana wanted to investigate further, the moment she crushed the monster to pieces, the dagger in its hands disappeared, leaving her only with her now bleeding hand.

Although Diana's hand had only just grazed the dagger, the latter had left a huge wound of the hand of the extremely powerful being, nearly the size of Diana's entire palm.

"A dagger that can wound me that much with so little strength, interesting..." mumbled Diana as she looked at her wounded palm, which was regenerating much slower than usual.

...

Unlike the extremely annoyed Diana, Mikhail was currently living in bliss.

No matter how reckless or wasteful Mikhail was in his experiments, or how many monster bodies he destroyed, the very next day, the body of another monster would be presented to him.

Of course, this did not only benefit Mikhail, as the experimental results that Diana ever so desired came much quicker than she could have ever expected...
