Chapter 12.2 : A Silent Demon

Chapter 12.2 : A Silent Demon

That same year, Jaywick, England.

As she looked at the grey and dreary landscape of Jaywick, a faint smile appeared on Diana's face.

At this moment, Diana was walking down from her home to a certain part of town, already certain that today would be a good day.

Suddenly, Diana's ears subtly moved, as she heard the sound of crying emerge from a distance and begin getting closer and closer.

Hearing this, the smile on Diana's face was replaced by a frown, as she looked at the four-year-old boy who was running down the sidewalk.

Right now the boy was sprinting as if he was about to lose his life, giving it hill all, as such, he quickly reached Diana, causing his eyes to light up.

"Diana! I need your help!" said the boy, Ian, in an obnoxiously loud voice.

"What is it?" asked the four-year-old Diana, already feeling quite annoyed at him.

"I lost my ice cream money, I can't find it anywhere, Can you help me find it?" said Ian, the tone of his voice lowering as he reached the end of the sentence.

"Come here," said Diana as she waved her hand towards the young kid, her face clearly annoyed.

Hearing this, Ian quickly leaped towards Diana, stopping around ten centimeters away from her.

Suddenly, Diana began searching through the pockets of the kid for a few moments, seemingly not finding anything.

"I can't help you, I tried my best," said Diana as she looked at the kid with a faint smile on her face.

After that, Diana let out a shrug before walking away from the kid, who was about to start crying again.

...

'Free ice cream,' thought Diana as she looked at the coins in her hand with a faint smile on her face.

...

After a few minutes of walking, Diana finally reached her destination, the park, when suddenly, something caught her eyes, causing them to light up.

Only a few moments later, Diana suddenly sprinted towards the ice cream truck parked nearby, her eyes shining.

With speed and dexterity which would raise a few eyebrows if noticed, Diana run to the side of the truck.

"Two Strawberry Cones please," said Diana as she obediently placed the bunch of coins on the retractable table of the truck.

After counting the coins for a few moments, the ice cream man nodded.

"Coming right up," said the man as he suddenly turned around and prepared the cones for Diana.

Only a few moments after that, Diana could be seen walking through the park with the two ice cream cones in her hands, and that same faint smile still present on her face.

"I knew that today was going to be a good day," mumbled Diana as she gave the sweet ice cream cone a lick.

After that, Diana walked through the park for a few more minutes, seemingly waiting for something as she slowly but surely ate the ice cream, not hurrying in the slightest.

As she had gotten two of them, it took Diana over ten minutes for her to finish the two cones of ice cream.

'It should be about time,' thought Diana as she wiped her hands on the shirt of an oblivious kid.

Only a few moments after that, Diana slowly began walking out of the park, in the general direction of her home.

The closer Diana reached to her home, the brighter the smile present on her face became, as by now, she had begun sprinting towards her home.

...

Looking at the rather embarrassing look of the house, at least from the outside, Diana quickly walked to the front door and opened it.

It only took Diana a few moments to walk into the house and be greeted by a rather strange scene.

Looking at the figure which was hanging from the ceiling fan, a bright smile appeared on Diana's face.

...

Later that year, England, London, The Saint Pancras Female Orphanage.

Looking at the rather tall blond girl in front of her, Harley couldn't help but scratch the side of her head.

"Hi, my name is Harley, what's yours?" awkwardly asked Harley, feeling rather embarrassed as she looked at the girl in front of her.

"My name's Diana," said the blond girl, causing Harley's eyes to light up.

"That's a really pretty name, follow me," said the little girl, Harley, as she grabbed Diana by the wrist and began walking forward.

Seeing this, Diana felt a little uncertain, but even so, she still quickly followed Harley to her destination.

...

Looking at the dollhouse, which was surrounded by five different girls, ages 4 to 7, Diana felt a little lost, but even so, she quickly followed behind Harley, who picked up a doll and immediately sat down next to the house.

Staring at this scene, Diana followed suit, but even so, a weird feeling slowly but surely began emerging in Diana.

'Surely, I won't end up wasting all of my time like this, right?' thought Diana as a weird type of anger began emerging within herself.

...

January 7th, 1989

Over these past two years, Diana had fully integrated into the rhythm of the orphanage, and had become acquaintances or even 'friends' with some of the girls in it.

But even so, for some reason, Diana felt as though she had not fully integrated into the orphanage.

After all, although some people might underestimate them, children's instincts can be weird sometimes.

...

Looking at the photo of her father which lay on her bed, a large frown appeared on Diana's face.

Unlike before, when the photo depicted Diana's father next to her mother, right now, the portion housing her mother had been torn off, leaving only her father standing there, staring at her.

Every day, for the past two years, Diana had stared at this photo, waiting for her father to come back, after all, Diana had even gotten rid of the weak woman who could have annoyed him.

But even so, Diana's father showed no signs of arriving, causing a small but subtle change to begin taking place in Diana about a year into her stay at the orphanage.

Slowly but surely, the sadness and the desire to meet her father had been transformed, transformed into anger.

Without warning, the glass covering the photo in Diana's hands suddenly shattered, falling on Diana's bed at the same time as the photo.

Staring at the shattered glass in front of her Diana slightly touched her head.

"Something must have happened to you, yes, that's it otherwise you would have come for me! You wouldn't have made me wait for so long..." mumbled Diana as a weird glint passed through her eyes.

Compared to before, the anger present in Diana's eyes had somewhat diminished, but it had been replaced by something just as bad.

Knock Knock

Suddenly, two knocks were heard on the door, causing Diana to raise her head.

"Did something happen?" asked Diana.

"Two rich Americans are coming soon, maybe someone will be adopted, Diana, you should come as well," said a female voice from the other side of the door.

"I understand," mumbled Diana as she got up from the bed.

Right now, Diana could not wallow in pity, she had to take action, to take revenge against those that had kept her father away from her.

No matter what.
