Chapter 8 : Different Theatres

"Please teach me how can I better use this 'Invocation'."

While the words Alec said were quite reserved, his facial expression looked anything but. Showing the eagerness that he had, and his undivided interest about it. To which the sunfish then responded.

"So it is deal then. I might have shook fins with you on it, but you sadly possess none. If there is still some time is left after this, there might be something interesting to do. But that's for later, so pay attention now."

After saying that it returned to the seat it had occupied prior. Levitating itself alongside with the fishbowl, and then sitting once more right next to Alec. Speaking further more once placing settling down.

"Invocation works through a medium. This is the most common phrase that you hear, while learning what an invoker actually does. By invoking something you are trying to influence it at its core. The medium in this has to be something which is tangible, while the invocation itself is something for the medium to do. It can be a prayer, command, or even an enchantment. Here like you can see-"

In between it saying that, the movie screen light up once more. That hadn't been used since the movie about Alec had finished. Showing to him the scene when he called the smartphone towards himself.

"-that when you call your smartphone, it heeded to your invocation and got pulled. This shows a couple things, that you can notice when using an invocation. One is your close proximity to the object, and then is your connection to the object itself. Think of this connection as a link that you form, as it gives you means of influencing something. The stronger it is, the better it is for you. However you perform that connection is up to you. "

The image on the screen shifted, showing Alec back when he was in the gun range. About to shoot his first bullseye, through the use of his ability.

"Just remember that the more often you use a thing, the more proficient you can get at it. Now something fundamental to every unique ability is how you envision something in your mind. Once you do that bringing it to reality becomes a possibility. Only doing so solely out of the power of your will, and nothing more is how supernatural abilities work. Do you remember any specific advice you were told before coming here?"

Taking a second to properly recall that, Alec then thought.

'With understanding in my heart and pride in my words. Roam the many worlds as I deem fit. That's what I was told. Understanding and words, huh?'

"Seems like you were. Good. That is an advice much better to anything I can give provide. Practical experience always prevails over any sort of external guide."

Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

The scene in the screen again changes, showing him when he prevented the robber from pulling the trigger.

"Still I can tell you this. There are still a couple more things that you can see here, which will positively affect in you casting your invocation. That is the gesture you make, which have made whether consciously or not. Next is the emotional investment behind the gesture itself. And lastly comes the creativity you can show in utilising any object."

"This much should enough to justify the completion of our deal. Don't worry about forgetting this as part of our deal, you will keep the information related to your ability. It would just come to you as something, that you discovered solely by yourself for a while.

"Well, that's it."

At that Alec patiently waited, as he then heard the sunfish say.

"You can head straight to your trial, but it seems you want to see that bonus. Right?"

One by one all the seats inside there vanished, save for the one he was sitting on. Then the theatre screen too wrapped itself up. Leaving behind a large empty hallway, Alec and the sunfish inside its fishbowl. It then said.

"There are still a couple theatres that are still ongoing. I can allow you to witness them for brief moments. But there are rules you have to follow while you are in there. First of all make no loud noise inside there. No staring at anything except what's directly in front of you. Last and the most obvious, do not get up from you seat."

"There are six theatres which are still present, you will get five seconds each in them. Once you finish going through them, the next trial would start. So it's goodbye till we meet later."

Before Alec could say goodbye in response. Everything except him, and the seat he was sitting on appeared like it faded. Soon the surroundings gradually made itself reappear, with Alec finding himself to be sitting inside a different theatre. While his sitting placement was much more in front than before.

With there being no movie screen in his anywhere, but rather a stage and a large white curtain with candles in front of it. In the background there was a noise of beating drums, and two shadowy figures present behind the curtain. That kept moving behind it, making movements with each sound the drum made.

One of the two shadowy figures there looked like a four-armed giant. The other one meanwhile, had the shape of a simple snake. That looked tiny in comparison to the giant figure, that held it underneath one arm.

Before Alec could have a single thought about this observation, the scenery once again changed. This time much quicker than before.

As he was still sitting at the very front but what he saw this time wasn't a curtain.

There were various number of moving statues, that were wearing intricately designed dresses. Showing rapid movements that only in the last two seconds, did Alec realised was some sort of dance.

In the next theatre Alec had to immediately cover his eyes. As he got bombarded with a ton of light, that before he could try adjust had been gone. A new theatre appearing in front of him.

This one had a ton of flowing clothes that shifted, converged, cut apart, and joined back again. Showing a kaleidoscope of moving colors, and a pattern behind that looked beautiful but hard to understand. That Alec enjoyed looking at for the few seconds he could.

Until he saw the next theatre. Where he could see a massive box, inside there were puppets tied to strings. That moved sluggishly as the background behind them was manually changed.

A couple seconds later, the sixth and last theatre appeared in front of him. Or what was more accurate, that he appeared inside the theatre himself. Regardless he was prepared to see anything strange, but that worry was for naught. As he saw a quite simple story book esque picture. One that was clearly moving, yet the colors were way too beautiful

Showing two kids wearing crudely drawn masks, sitting on top of a tree branch. As they observed a sunset from on top of there.

That image greatly resonated with Alec, as he wished he could see for a bit longer. Than just the meagre few seconds that he had been given. Trying to capture as much as he could about the image, he noticed that the tree was on a grey colored ground.

Sadly that was the final thing he observed, as his allocated time had been finished after that. With everything going dark.

This made Alec to be slightly nervous, and he nearly jumped in fright seeing a glowing series of words appeared in the air. That justifiably gave him a bit of panic, as they looked like the ones he had seen back then in the mirror.
