Keeping caution of these various large sea monsters, most of which were completely dissimilar to each other in appearance. With some possessing a variety of deformed fish features, and others having pincers or an exoskeleton of a crustacean.
Despite these differences none of them fought, although what all of them had in common was the leaves and vines growing out, and encircling each of their bodies. That he nearly ignored at first sight, but seeing it reappear on each one of them was alarming to him.
Immediately seeking to give them a wide berth, he observed from a distance while avoiding any new one that passed by. Clearly terrified of what he recognised as a clear symptom of some plant based parasitism. Not just any plant or vegetation that got stuck to their body, it was directly growing out of the bodies of these creatures.
The final nail in the coffin about this whole ordeal was the sickening sweet peach like smell. That was coming out from all of these sea monsters, which he was able to smell as they were swimming by close to each other.
Using the tools at his disposal he moved his repaired boat, to quickly get away and hopefully get out of here. This lead to him sailing full speed for a couple of days, in between he took breaks appropriate to his body's requirements.
Other than the rough weather, avoiding the occasional danger, and him having to fish for food there was not much change he saw. With the help of string-phone he avoided most of the danger, that grew sparse as he sailed forward.
Reason behind that became clear as there were a number of large whirpools in the path forward. Looking at it Alec knew it was going to be a pain to get past it. His sail boat was far too small to cross such a large whirpool, he needed to find a way to cross it.
If he tried to raise the tides and have them carry the boat, it would easily be interrupted due to the interference right under. If he tried to glide over then the wind currents these whirpools generated would cut his flight short.
With two paths cut short, Alec logically went to the only one he had left. That was by going under the surface of water, something he despised to do. Submarines were far slower and tiring to move than having a boat. Especially if he considered how the danger mostly came from down under.
Thinking about how to make a submarine made Alec feel more and frustrated. He knew the boat was not air tight enough to do so, and considering how deep he would have to go to avoid the whirpool the oxygen would deplete anyways.
Changing the sail boat's shape he did not try to make it air tight or anything. Rather it started to resemble more of a stream line shape. His goal with making it as hydrodynamic as possible, it with as much force he could. Only doing this much he knew he could not launch the boat through the distance, so he chose to reduce the weight that it carried as much as possible.
Stolen story; please report.
Reducing the size of it as much as possible, while still leave himself with a functioning boat. Alec reduced till it was only over half of the boat's original size.
From which he only chose the materials that he got in the spire, especially leaving out the parts he took form the island he had earlier stopped by in. Then packing away most of the food he had caught earlier, some of which he had even smoked a little. Not throwing it off board though, having an idea where he was about to use them.
Inside the boat's compartment he kept the necessary stuff like his bed, the water distilling pot, curtain of the sail, and many other important items. All of these items he locked so that water wouldn't reach, on the other hand the rest of the boat could easily let in and then let the water out.
Now with this he stood on the streamline boat, carrying all the stuff on it momentarily. Then sailing back in the direction he had come from, actively searching for monsters that were not filled with those creepy vines or leaves.
A couple of them he was able to locate successfully, out of them he chose the fastest one. Ones that were more suited to travel under the water and fast at that. Just not large enough for him to not be able to subdue. He successfully subdued three of them, all of them were different kind sea creatures.
The first one was more of a worm like sea creature, possessing no eyes but a great hearing. Right next to it Alec had trapped with his rope was a two headed shark creature, with two tails fins and was likely one that had yet to grow to it's full size. Last one was much like an angler fish, as it had a bioluminescent bait coming out from it's head. Rest of it body was slimmer and much longer than the ones he has seen pictures of.
Each of them having been tied by him, were then forcefully fed into their open mouth. This task was much easier than the finding and subduing one. Feeding them all of his catches and other foods he had cooked. Out of which he fed the two headed shark a little more, then doing so he made a command to them.
"Swim forward!"
Pushing all of them deeper into the water he loosened the rope bind, that was connected to the tear shaped boat. Which was carried by them to go straight forward, until the whirpools came by then each of them took a dive downward.
Right then Alec seperated himself, and all the stuff he carried, from the soon to be underwater vessel. Without wasting any time, he quickly made a platform to place the mast on with the help leftover materials. Standing on top of which he carried the mast to be at the very front of it, then using ocean drum he raised the tides under him.
He made a really quick jab with drum forward, that led to all the beads in to turn into dust but still kept the ocean drum intact. The force generated while not throwing the makeshift platform as fast, allowed Alec and the mast pole to go at fast speeds. This was his idea of hurling himself through the air, so that he could catch up with the rest of the boat he had sent ahead.
After travelling a large distance through the air like that he soon began to descend slightly. Before that happened Alec ran off to the end of the mast pole, and pushed it forward with his kick while falling off it. Using the Invocation to make this action more significant, increasing the speed at which the mast moved again.
Meanwhile his fall did not last long as his leg was tied to the rope, having long tied it to the mast pole's front. Suffering through this discomfort for the sake of passing through the whirpools, that he fortunately was able to do so. Landing on the water with the mast pole, taking a moment to shake off the nauseating feeling.
Then he tried to located where the rest of the boat was, it being a little distance from crossing the distance. One of the three sea monsters was eaten by the other two, it being the angler fish like monsters.
It was the one on whom the effect of his Invocation was the weakest, thus Alec kept it's range of movement less than the other two. The worm like sea monster had a better hearing so Alec took advantage of that, meanwhile the shark's two head meant he could influence it even better.
Soon enough his boat reached under him, and right before it was about to pass him Alec made the ropes untie themselves. Setting the two sea monsters free of their bindings, a short distance from that a tear shaped boat also rose up from the water.
Calling on it Alec was able to bring it towards him, thanks to close distance and the mast which he was on. Getting on the streamlined boat he rebuild it, reverting it back to it's original shape as much as possible. Though it was much smaller due to the lack of parts, it was still very much sea worthy.
Having crossed the most dangerous portion already Alec knew he had less than a day of journey left before he would reach the sea's boundary. One that he was equal parts nervous and excited to be to see soon.
