Giving focus to his meal entirely, Alec seemed to enjoy it fully. Only taking big gulps of water if his bites were too large.
The seafood were the first to be finished by him, following after that were the vegetables. All of which he ate easily, except for making a face at cauliflower. That he ate as well, only chewing it slower, and eating something else to dilute it's taste.
Completing his meal Alec gave his gratitude to the keeper, who then started to pick up the empty dishes. The rest of which were left Alec gathered himself together, and got up from his seat with them before asking.
"Can I follow you to the kitchen?"
The keeper soothingly replied to Alec.
"Of course."
On their way to the kitchen, they crossed the many seats and cutlery on the table. A few moment of that Alec had a question build in his mind, that had felt take root since he finished eating that apple. Which he gave voice to finally
"How do you get these fruits, if every living thing turns to stone after six months?"
He could understand the vegetables, since many of them grows as fast as within hundred days or so. The sea food could have also been possibly acquired, due to any unsuspecting fish may wandered near the vicinity. Or might have just been hunted by the keeper of the tower.
But for a fruit tree especially like an apple, to grow and bear fruits it takes three to four years at the bare minimum. He was curious about it so he ended up asking, to which he got an answer fo.
"This came through the processes of natural selection, selective breeding, and a portion of alchemy. Being an alchemical creation myself it was less difficult to perform than someone uninitiated."
Having his query resolved and completely piece of information to chew over. Alec quietly followed as they got to the kitchen, a number of various things coming to his notice, and a few even standing out.
There were various shelves for a number of root vegetables, fruits, and a couple leaf greens. A large box that felt cold to touch, he believed to be the refrigerator storing the seafood. Other than that there were a few more items he recognised, such as a stone over, and even an iron grill. Next to which logs of dry wood were piled.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
Lastly below the sink there was a compartment, where the spire's keeper put all the dirty dishes inside. That Alec followed in doing so, and put the ones he had held there too. Doing so the keeper then closed it shut, and began speaking pointing at the tap on the sink.
"This is where you can get your drinking water. Harder you press it in, the hotter the water would come out. There are a few rules of this kitchen you have to follow, always clean up after yourself, put the untensils back to where you picked them from, and at minimum eat the last meal of the day sitting on the dining table."
Understanding all the rules, and feeling like he could follow them, Alec gave a nod. That the other party understood, and spoke further.
"You can access it at anytime you want to, only do so until tomorrow though. Then I'll help you build a workout routine, and a dietary plan to assist alongside with it."
The latter half of the statement took Alec aback slightly. As he couldn't help but ask.
"Wait, what kind of workout?"
The spire keeper easily responded to him.
"To build your physique, of course."
Alec looked like he wanted to respond, but the other party spoke first.
"I see that you're fit and healthy, but you yet to truly reached the peak of it. Trying to improve your ability as you currently are, would only take you so far. Perhaps you can solely rely on your mind, but that would make your body to be nothing than a shackle. A wholistic improvement would only ever increase the chances for your survival."
Understanding the logic behind the statment, Alec could no longer being himself to object. Standing in place with that reflective mood, the compartment under the sink then opened itself. Revealing all the clean dishes and cutlery, that Alec then picked up before heading back.
Setting them on the table he picked them up from, after which the spire's keeper spoke to him.
"There are rooms in the ground floor that are free for you to use. You should go and take rest now."
Feeling the yawn coming after having a full meal, Alec suppressed it and went to the staircase. Where he stood steadily in order to not slip, after it began moving when he put both his feet on the first step.
Soon reaching the ground floor he looked around, and saw a corridor with multiple rooms with full sized bed. Leaving his shoes outside he headed in to the closest one and just layed himself on the bed. The softness of the matress allowed him to fall asleep very quickly.
*****
The next day when Alec woke up, he just stayed on the bed staring at the unfamiliar ceiling.
Completely spent with his ability to start thinking, he rolled a few times in the bed. Playing with a button that had been tore from his shirt. Making it loop faster and faster in air with the help of index finger, he did so until the point it ended slipping from his control.
Not bothering to look where it went, he just waking up due to being unable to sleep. His routine forcing him to wake within six hours, regardless of how his feelings about waking up were. Leading him to procrastinate, but failing to do so especially without a smartphone.
'Man, I really miss playing those useless timepass games on my phone.'
With that he forced himself to then get up, and went to the washroom right next to the bedroom.
Doing all the necessary morning activities, and finally ending it with a shower. That to his pleasant surprise gave had hot water available from it. Once he finished showering, he got the problem of what to change into. Since he only had one pair of clothing on his person.
Giving his old clothes a long stare, he gave up on them and tried to look in the cupboard. Where he luckily found a ton of different clothes. All of which that were either his perfect fit, or just slightly oversized.
Most of them were in plain colors, of which he chose the brown pants and red shirt. Walking out of the room he saw a pair slippers right next to his shoes.
Recognising that it was the kindness of that kind alchemical being. Whom Alec also realised that he had neither introduced himself to, or asked the name of. This brought panic inside him, urging him to go and correct it.
Going outside the corridor, he quickly found the keeper. Moving forward in that direction, Alec closed the distance and then spoke.
"Um, sorry that it took this long. I am Alec Willows, nice to meet you. Can I please know your name?"
In following seconds after his introduction, a small chuckle escaped from the keeper. Who then responded to Alec.
"There's no need to be sorry for that. And hello Alec Willows, I am pleased to meet you as well. My name is Myr."
