Reaching this part of the sea, where he was usually seen off by the spire keeper, Alec just stood still there on the stone platform. Using the ocean drum he carried on his person, Alec turned the boat around to look at it in different angles.
Looking at the sail boat whose black sails were tied up, there were a number of leghold traps, or bear traps, as they were commonly called. A number of them were tied vertically to the sail boat's hull, which was the outer body of a sea vessel that kept the water from flowing in.
Beyond the hull and near the cabin of the deck that was in the centre, there was an assortment of multiple crossbows encircling it. That was it for the defenses though, since Alec's goal was not in testing the boat's might. It was to see how much and well it could survive without any person manning it.
Signalling to Myr who left rope which kept the boat at place, Alec then beat on the ocean drum while tilting it forward. Causing the tides to carry the boat ahead at faster speeds, he was soon unable to see it any longer. Turning to Myr he saw that the spire keeper had brought out a stone carved chess set.
Putting his focus on to it, Alec then had a long game of chess with Myr. Who had closed the skill gap with Alec very much, despite there being a low number of games played between them. It was partly due to there not being a lot of time in Alec's busy schedule to play, but the other factor that largely played a role in this was what Myr would do.
Whenever he lost the match Myr would ask for another game, but their chess match for the day would conclude as soon as he won. This was seen as Alec won their first round, and the chess board alongside it's pieces were reduced to dust.
Resting on the seat that was created for their chess match earlier, Alec then spoke to the other party.
"Can you list to me about all the most dangerous monsters in the sea? All the ones that you described to me briefly in passing sometimes."
To which Myr looked past Alec, and in the direction of the spire before speaking.
"The monsters that I prevented from nearly breaking the spire, and release it's curse are as such. First one is that monster you had called Kraken, when I described some of it's physical features to you. The small squid that I helped you deal with must have been one of it's younger spawns."
Alec completely remembered that recounting. Although it was extremely dangerous and far outmatching Alec, it was just one out of the many monsters that long ago attacked the spire together. Alongside being one of the few which had left the thousand step radius of the spire alive that day. With Myr listing the few that had successfully did.

"Another would be that long snake that you called a Leviathan. It was the most slippery one despite it's size, you would need to keep caution the most with it. The next one you have to be less cautious, but more careful as not to wake up. It's a giant tortoise that holds an island on it's back, where you could rest between your journey without the worry of any monster. Even if you wake it up the only thing that would happen to you is that it would shake you off and swim away."
This creature described to Alec was a truly peculiar one, as it would not attack him and rather serve as a safe point for him. To him it would have been better if more of such creatures existed in the sea. Sadly such was not the case, therefore he had to prepare better to ensure his own safety.
Meanwhile throughout all of this Myr had had continued describing more of the monsters that Alec took note of until Myr interrupted while saying this.
"Looks like your boat is out of the risky areas. The stone I had placed on it will help it come back to get here. Then you could see the result, and whether that the boat is intact or not."
A couple of minutes of wait after that allowed Alec to reunite with his sail boat. That had none of the bear traps on it's hull, and walking on the boat further Alec saw that the arrow and their launcher had been the most useful. Other than that the boat looked quite undamaged, bringing conclusion to one to Alec's conjecture.
That without the presence of another living being on the ship, there were far lesser dangers encountered but sail boat itself. Especially with no larger creature having capsized the boat or would have been proven the conjecture in different direction.
Now that Alec had gotten a proof he then asked Myr to carry the boat back, as he walked step by step on the stone platform. Reaching close to the spire's base where Myr had Alec and the boat, to be lifted utilising the lift from the stone platform.
Then fixing the boat outside Alec went into the spire with the keeper. He first destination was the kitchen, which he had made himself pretty used to by now. Utilising the ingredients and tools with precision, and leaving nearly no waste in cooking. With the taste having being adjusted in order to suit his own palate.
Soon after finish eating some food, and refreshing himself Alec then went back outside. All in order to fix the sail in few areas, while also making it so that he could remove the hull off easily. This was so that in the process of changing the sail boat's size and shape the outer part of the boat would not be an issue.
To solve this Alec made is so that the hull was fixed with a slide locking mechanism, that could be affected by pushing from the inside but not vice-versa. Doing so in a few days worth of time, Alec then fixed a few mistakes and finally settled with the current state of the sail boat he had made.
It might have been a long and arduous process, yet Alec could proudly say that he did everything in his power. The only part left was to sail with the boat, before that Alec took a complete day of rest. Not training for that day, and only taking a comfortable bath, roaming in the flower garden in the second floor of the spire, and then having a good meal after he slept again.
Sadly he had made it for himself, so that each of his sleep would not last for more than a few hours if not for recovery. So he just walked around this spire which he had been guest for so many months now.
Going to upper floors, even reaching the fifth floor and then the sixth floor. The former held all the parts from the various broken ships, some of that Alec had used to make and repair his own sail boat. Latter however had a room which was locked from outside, that when Alec asked Myr got told it was the room of the spire's creator. Long dead and having passed away due to old age.
Having spent an entire day in leasure like that brought Alec's mood to be up a notch again. As he then went outside the next day to practice sailing again. Trying out the various methods to avoid, and combat against the violent creatures of this stormy sea.
Alec kept with the preparations, until the day came for his final departure from the spire. One that he had prepared himself thoroughly for. With one goal kept above everything else. Survival.
