The difficulty of that last question was severe to Alec.
Especially upon comparing to the questions above, that each had a tick mark in front of it. Same as the one that appeared in front of it as well.
It made his internal thinking process to run, before and after giving the answer, and not be stopped for quite a while. This did not take him too long, still the sunfish next to him didn't say while he quietly thought.
Because as much as Alec might wished to say yes, and return home even in this very moment. He still remembered the feeling of being nearly shot twice, more so after he just saw it on a movie screen.
That entire altercation still held a significant impact on him, clearly present in the outer surface of Alec's psyche. As it played a not insignificant part as to why he chose guns, when he found himself to prepare for a fight out of the blue.
Simple yes or no choices like that, only appear look easy to the uninvolved person. Who have no stake in the outcome of the decision.
Anyone in a difficult or demanding position might say, 'if they could see go back and a live life simply'. Yet, other than just saying that they rarely actually do it. Not until they have been through the end of the carrier.
Of course there are quite few who might have, it's just that the few are not everyone, and is clearly not the most. Same went for Alec, where even though he felt inclined to say yes. He ultimately ended up saying no.
The safety it provided it to him with the result it showed, in a life and death situation from back then. Became the final nail in the coffin in him approving that answer.
While he did not know if something like that might again happen. It did not sit right with him to leave it up to chance anymore.
Although deep behind the all of that cause, and concern there was something else. A curiousity as to uncover as much as he possibly could, about this supernatural and yet to be uncovered world.
Only now after trying to remove his previous grim outlook. Did Alec truly notice for a second, about the level of strangeness of this very situation.
'Never thought I would be able to see a movie about myself. Especially not with me playing the star.'
With a small smile that he repressed, Alec's expression relaxed quite a bit moret. As he then grabbed a couple of popcorn to eat. Upon finish chewing, he looked to his left in the seat next to him. Where he seriously gave thought, as how there was a talking sunfish in its fishbowl. That then directly spoke to him.

"Yep, seems like the thinking is done. I wanted to thank you for cooperating well. And since you don't look that much down in the dumps anymore. Let me ask you this. Are you curious to know the reason why you are involved in all of this?"
Alec shook his up and down, expressing his agreement. That the sunfish caught, with it then further saying.
"The entire situation started due your power. That message in the mirror, encounter with that dangerous creature, and finally being forced to sit here. That is because the will of your world has sent you here. Now-"
Hearing this again, brought Alec so many questions. That before he could even put to word, the sunfish made a response. Clearly foreseeing what was about to come.
"-Of course you have questions about it. I can answer two of them, only able to afford that much. However, I will reject ones that are too costly for me."
"Is the world a living thing?"
"Of course! You went way too safe there, don't worry about it creating any trouble to me. If it's too difficult I will just say no, and you can then ask something else. You still have two questions left, shoot."
"What does this will of the world exactly do?"
"Ooh. Now that's a lengthy one, I will answer as much as it is possible. Think of it as an overseer who control everything except for what is happening inside. Meaning it can choose which factors to let inside, that can affect the very happenings taking place inside."
The sunfish went quiet, clearly waiting for Alec to ask. Who was in turn digesting the answer just given to him.
Recovering from the information intake, Alec then asked.
"Does the will of the world in my home planet has a name?"
"Can't tell you that."
The sunfish instantly gave the denial, that Alec did not mind much. But rather tried to think of the next to question to ask.
Tapping the middle of his forehead, Alec then figured out what to say.
"Can every planet have their will of the world?"
"Not every planet has it. Only the ones that inhabit life inside them, possess a will of the world. It is stronger in those planets, where many sentient life recides."
"Continuing with the reason behind you got involved in this trial. It was your ability. Due to which the will of world has sent you here. But don't feel too bad about that."
After the questions he got answer to just now, he really didn't feel as bad anymore.
"Rather think of it like one sending their kid to like an ivy league school. Going there might not guarantee one's complete success, but the chances for them achieve it gets pretty darn high."
"I will give you a moment to digest that. You must be feeling slightly off, knowing how it was this ability that got you in this."
"Just a little bit now, the half spider had told it to me earlier."
"What!?"
This was the first time Alec heard any rise in the volume of the sunfish's voice. Following that Alec saw it disappear for a moment, alongside its fishbowl. Then reappear right back in the seat, in less than half a minute.
"That sneaky invoker. Sorry for the disappearance there, I had to go and check. It seems like a problem has been created for me, that you can solve easily by giving your agreement.
The sunfish then levitated alongside the fishbowl. Positioning itself for Alec to see it eye to eye, while him not having to get up from his seat.
To which Alec sat straighter in his seat. Although being slightly nervous, he understood exactly why this was. That he summarised with one single thought.
'Important deals are made while facing each other.'
"I won't try to steal away from a novice such as you. So here's what I want from you. In the first round of the trial the participant forgets about this place. The reason behind I can't tell you, but know it is a secret far important than just being a spoiler. The authority I hold over this space , allows me to make information you recieved here to temporarily be forgotten."
The end of that sentence, gave Alec the insight he needed to connect the pieces. As his realisation was caught on by the sunfish, who then continued.
"Yep, I see you understand. This is where the problem comes. You can place your demand, although it seems like you know what to ask."
With almost a glint behind his eyes, Alec then spoke.
"Please teach me how can I better use this 'Invocation'."
