Chapter 31 Army

Chapter 31 Army

Leo laughed and said, "What's this little injury? Back when I was in the military, I got much worse and never even set foot in a hospital!"

Louis secretly admired him, thinking that this guy was not only righteous but also a tough guy. He said, "How about this? I think you guys should come over to my place, and make a friend, what do you say?"

Leo readily agreed. Louis and his group hailed a taxi, and once they were in the car, only Jack was still chatting with three girls. Louis shouted, "Jack, get in the car!" Upon hearing Louis's call, Jack reluctantly made his way over.

As they chatted in the car, Louis learned that the tall young man was named Leo, and his companion was Jerry. Both of them were veterans and lived in the same village. These past few days, Leo and Jerry had come here looking for work, but after three days, they hadn't found any suitable jobs. Today, their spirits were down, so they came here to have a drink, not expecting to run into this situation. The taxi soon arrived at Ghost KTV, and the four of them got out and went inside.

Louis led them into a private room and had someone briefly attend to the wound on Leo's head. Shortly after, the Ghost KTV waitstaff brought drinks. Louis asked, "Leo, how long do you plan to stay here?"

Leo sighed and said, "How long can we stay? We can't find work, and the money we brought is running out. We thought we could find a job, and earn some money for our families, but now it seems we'll have to go back home and farm!"

Jack, not agreeing with this, exclaimed, "A real man should strive and work hard when he's young! When else are you going to make your mark?"

Leo picked up a glass from the table, poured a drink, and downed it in one gulp, shaking his head. "I want to strive too, but I don't know anyone here."

Jack patted Leo on the shoulder sympathetically, then looked at Louis. Louis understood his intention, and he was genuinely interested in recruiting these two. He said to Leo, "Leo, if you're willing, stay and work with me! I need someone like you."

Leo was a bit surprised. "With you?" Leo had overheard Louis's conversation with Van and knew he was associated with Nightmare, which seemed to be a big gang. However, Louis appeared more like a student.

Jack laughed and said, "This guy right here is the boss. Being his right-hand man is no small feat!"

Leo looked at Louis in astonishment. "You're the gang boss? I didn't see that coming at all!"

Louis chuckled and said, "I like your character, and you have valuable skills. Going back to the countryside to farm would be a waste. Although Nightmare is part of the underworld, I genuinely hope you'll join me in this endeavor. What Jack said earlier is true - a man's worth lies in his determination. Even if you don't succeed, it's better than living an ordinary life. At least, when you're old, you won't regret not having truly tried!"

Leo looked at Louis in silence for a while, unable to believe that such words were coming from a young boy. Suddenly, Jerry stood up beside them and said to Louis, "You're right! I'm willing to join you in conquering the world!"

Louis nodded with a smile, looking at Leo. After a while, Leo asked, "How much money can I make in one month?"

Jack laughed and said, "It's the same amount!" He then extended three fingers.

"Three hundred, it's not much, but it's better than farming! Alright, I'm with you from now on!" Leo said loudly after taking another sip of wine, standing up.

Louis also stood up, shook hands with Leo and Jerry, and said, "Good! Welcome to both of you. But one thing you've got wrong, it's not three hundred, it's three thousand!"

"Three thousand?" Leo and Jerry looked at each other. Three thousand in a month! That's much more than they could earn from farming in a year. Louis and Jack both laughed heartily at their surprised expressions.

Then, Louis briefly explained the situation with Nightmare to the two of them. Leo and Jerry gained some understanding of Nightmare and were quite surprised. They hadn't expected Nightmare's strength to be this significant, which explained why Van was so respectful of Louis.

After Louis finished speaking, he asked them, "How knowledgeable are you two about firearms?"

The two exchanged smiles, and Leo said, "I've got the firearms covered." Jerry nodded and added, "Leo isn't just talking big; he knows a lot about guns!"

Louis was very happy after hearing this and said, "I'll take you to see some guns, and you can help me identify them."

When guns were mentioned, Leo was thrilled. He hadn't touched a gun since leaving the military, and for someone like him who loved guns, hearing that Louis had guns was too exciting. He rubbed his hands together and said, "Bring the guns now; don't wait any longer!"

Jack chuckled and said, "Louis, I'll go get one for Leo to see." Louis nodded, and Jack was also eager to find out if the guns they bought from Dragon were of good quality. Shortly after, Jack returned with a gun wrapped in a cloth and handed it to Leo. Leo took it and glanced at it, saying, "This is an AK-47, nothing special."

Jack hastily asked, "How's the quality of this gun?"

After carefully examining it, Leo replied, "It's decent. If I'm not mistaken, it should be Russian-made."

Jack let out a sigh of relief and said to Louis, "Louis, it looks like Dragon didn't deceive us!"

Louis shook his head, never thinking that Dragon would deceive him over such a small matter. It was just that Steven and Jack were overly cautious. At that moment, the door to the room opened, and Steven, Alan, and Henry walked in. Seeing Leo with bandages on his head, Steven asked curiously, "Louis, who is he...?"

Jack gave Steven a cold look and intentionally said, "Steven, next time, knock before entering. Didn't you see that Louis and I were having a conversation?"

Steven was initially surprised but then playfully said, "It seems like you've become more paranoid these past few days. Come on, let me help you relax!" He then cracked his knuckles.

Louis interrupted their banter, pointing to Leo and Jerry, and said, "These two are Leo and Jerry, my new recruits. They are now part of our group, so take good care of them."

Steven, Alan, and the three newcomers shook hands. They were all young people and were now part of the same gang, so they quickly became acquainted. In the evening, Louis invited everyone for a meal to welcome the two new recruits. Most of Nightmare's core members were present, with the exception of Eric, who was too busy to be seen.

Since Leo and Jerry had military experience, Louis appointed them as trainers for Nightmare's members. Louis knew that the strength of a gang depended on the leadership's ability and the individual's strength in combat.

And so, the school's playground became Nightmare's training ground. Every morning, all members gathered there, and Leo and Jerry served as instructors, using methods similar to those in the military.

On the first day, everyone felt excited. Over five hundred people stood on the playground, brimming with enthusiasm. Louis, Steven, and others were among them, while Eric and his group were busy collecting intelligence and didn't participate. Leo came to the front of the line, as Louis had instructed earlier that all training was to be as rigorous as military training, with no leniency. When everyone was in position, he shouted loudly, "Roll call!" The people in the front row began to count, "1, 2, 3, 4..."

After the roll call, Leo waved his hand and said, "Jog ten laps around the field!" A lap around the field was approximately 250 meters. After just three laps, Jack collapsed. By the fifth lap, half of the guys couldn't continue. After ten laps, fewer than a hundred people were still standing, including Louis, Steven, and Henry.

Leo shook his head and shouted, "Those who couldn't complete the laps, one hundred push-ups!" A chorus of sighs followed. "Those who completed the laps, also do one hundred push-ups!" After finishing the push-ups, they resumed their formation exercises. By the end of the morning, everyone was exhausted and lying on the ground. Jack pulled Louis aside and said, "This is like a devil's training method!" Louis laughed and replied, "I think it's great. Only through this can we all become stronger!"

From that point on, Leo and Jerry's training became even stricter and more brutal. If someone couldn't complete the training, they were scolded or even physically disciplined, bringing a military discipline atmosphere into the group. Louis had made it clear that during training, everyone had to follow Leo and Jerry's orders, including himself. People both hated and feared these two trainers, and Leo and Jerry were proud to earn the unanimous title of "Devil Trainers" from the group.

Within three days, Eric, who had been absent all day, returned with a complete set of intelligence. Smith, supported by Devil, controlled nearly ten criminal enterprises with around 350 subordinates. The White faction, supported by Dragon, had been excluded since Dragon had formed an alliance with Nightmare. Sam, supported by Tiger, oversaw eight enterprises with about 300 subordinates. Levi and Van didn't have the backing of major criminal organizations, but they had forged alliances with some smaller groups. However, the combined strength of the two couldn't match any of the three major factions mentioned earlier.

Louis carefully reviewed the intelligence and said to Eric, "Eric, gather the team for a meeting!" Eric nodded in agreement.

After everyone had reviewed the intelligence, Jack suggested that they should start by attacking Smith since he was the strongest, and dealing with the others would be easier afterward. Steven suggested targeting Sam first, citing his poor reputation among their peers. Eric proposed starting with the two weaker opponents and then concentrating their efforts on the stronger ones. Louis listened to everyone's opinions and lowered his head in deep thought. His mind raced as he mentally played out each of the options.

After half an hour, Louis finally spoke up, saying, "Let's start by targeting Sam."

Everyone seemed surprised by the choice. Although Sam wasn't the strongest of the five factions, his supporter Tiger was formidable. Louis smiled and explained, "As Steven mentioned earlier, Sam has a bad reputation, that's one reason. The other reason is precisely because his supporter is Tiger. That's why I want to target him first. Tiger, no matter how strong, is still an external force. Its sudden appearance here has caused a stir, and many gangs already dislike it. However, due to the lack of unity among the various factions, they haven't joined forces to deal with it, which is why it has been able to act so brazenly. Sam, in an effort to expand his influence, has been secretly pleasing Tiger, and no other gang is willing to help him! We should make him our top priority!"

Alan suddenly realized, "I understand what Louis means. In fact, no matter which of the other four factions we target, it will likely lead to discontent among the other factions. Only Sam's group is different. Not only will it not arouse suspicion from other factions, but it might even help us!"

At this point, everyone understood and thought that targeting Sam first was a good idea.

Louis continued, "Right now, no one else knows about Sam's secret alliance with Tiger, so we must 'help' him. Everyone, go back and have the guys in your respective halls spread the word throughout the city that Sam and Tiger are conspiring and planning to take over the entire underworld!"

Everyone agreed in unison. Louis then turned to Leo and said, "You two, continue training the guys in the morning, and as soon as we have an opportunity, we'll make our move. Additionally, select forty guys who are skilled in marksmanship and have them practice shooting in the afternoon."

Leo and the others nodded in agreement.

Eric, who hadn't met Leo and Jerry before, looked at Louis with a question, "Louis, who are they?"

Louis smiled and introduced Eric to Leo. Leo, hearing that Eric was in charge of the Ninja department of the gang, said, "Since you oversee the Ninja, everyone should be well-trained. Scouts are not to be underestimated; they can become deadly assassins in crucial moments."

Eric was surprised and asked, "Become assassins?"

Jerry added, "That's right. When scouts have an excellent opportunity, they should have the ability to assassinate important enemy figures, either individually or as a team."

Louis, deep in thought, turned to Leo and asked, "Do you know how to train scouts?"

Leo shook his head and pointed to Jerry, saying, "I don't, but he does! Because he was a scout!"
