Chapter 20 Rich

Chapter 20 Rich

"I know this gun, it's an AK47!" Steven said as he held a gun. Everyone else picked it up to examine it closely as well. They had all seen AK47 on TV, but having a real one in their hands was quite exciting. Someone asked, "Why does this gun look a bit different from the one in the movies?" Once this was brought up, everyone noticed the differences.

Steven chuckled and said, "You don't know, those guns in the movies aren't real, they're replicas. What we have now is a genuine AK47!" Steven played with the rifle, clearly enjoying the sensation.

One person asked Louis, "Louis, we might make use of these guns, but what about the rocket launchers and landmines?"

Louis thought for a moment and replied, "We can't bring these guns out now. If Tiger catches sight of them, we're done. Put the guns back and maybe we can sell them out of town in the future."

Hearing Louis' words, everyone reluctantly placed the guns back into the box. Jack whispered, "Louis, we should keep a few guns for ourselves too!" Louis nodded and said, "Even if we keep some, it'll be for future use. For now, we can only rely on knives, and we need to retrieve the shotguns as well!"

Jack was a bit unwilling and asked, "Why?"

Steven glared at him and said, "Jack, you're really slow on the uptake. Didn't you realize we used shotguns to kill Tiger's men just now? If they see us with shotguns, won't they suspect us?"

Jack finally understood and nodded, saying loudly, "I understand!" Before he could finish his sentence, he received a kick from Steven.

Everyone put the guns back into the boxes and sealed them up again. Looking at the four large boxes, Louis thought to himself, "It's not a good idea to keep them at Spring KTV. Too many people and too much attention, word might leak out." He turned to Steven and asked, "Steven, do you have a safer place? Keeping the boxes here isn't secure."

Steven suggested, "Why not keep them at my place? I'm renting a house, hardly anyone goes there, and even if they do, they're on our side."

After a brief thought, Louis agreed with a nod. Then he addressed everyone, "Alright, everything's settled now. If anyone's tired, you can go home. If not, you can head to Ghost KTV for some fun, and everything you eat or drink will be on the tab."

The crowd cheered, then bid farewell to Louis and rushed towards Ghost KTV together. The core members of the gang didn't leave; they knew Louis must have something else to say. As expected, once everyone else left, Louis addressed them, "Each of you must take good care of your fellow guys. In the coming days, we need to maintain a low profile. Watch the situation unfold and keep a close eye on Tiger's every move. Eric, I'm entrusting this task to you!"

Eric hesitated and said, "Getting into the 'detective business' now feels a bit unfamiliar!" His words brought smiles to everyone's faces.

Louis then turned to Alan and said, "Alan, you did well today and achieved a great feat. Alan, later on, present three 500$ as a reward for yourself, and 300$ each for the others." As Alan was about to speak, Louis waved his hand to interrupt him and continued, "The funds within the gang are still limited for now. Distributing this much is already stretching it. But as the organization grows in the future, I promise everyone will have a good life. I won't say much more. I hope all of you can wholeheartedly dedicate yourselves to the gang and lay a solid foundation for our future development!"

Steven and the others stood up together and said in unison, "We pledge to follow Louis to the death!"

Louis smiled as he looked at everyone, quite satisfied with this response. A gang without a strong sense of unity would crumble even without external attacks. Louis also understood that while the guys had joined Nightmare because of him, it didn't mean they could always contribute to the organization voluntarily. While money couldn't buy friendship and respect, sometimes it could deepen those bonds. Louis didn't place much importance on money; he hadn't taken a single cent from the gang until now. This fact earned him even more admiration from everyone below him.

At this moment, Louis remembered a black leather bag and asked Steven, "Where's that black leather bag?"

Steven smiled and said, "I hid it. I figured since it was a transaction, the contents of the bag should be worth as much as this batch of weapons." As he spoke, he walked out of the room and retrieved the leather bag from under the pool table. Everyone thought that Steven was remarkably quick with his hands; no one had seen how he managed to hide the bag.

Steven placed the bag on the table and saw Louis nodding in agreement. He picked up a screwdriver and skillfully opened the combination lock. Steven opened the briefcase, revealing stacks of brand-new 100$ cashes. Everyone's eyes widened in astonishment; they had never seen so much money before in their lives.

Jack rubbed his eyes and exclaimed, "How much is this?! It's like it's sparkling with gold! No, my eyes must be playing tricks on me!"

Steven picked up a stack and looked at Louis, saying, "Louis, one stack is roughly about ten thousand dollars!"

Louis replied, "Pour the money out, and let's count how much there is!"

Steven emptied the money from the bag onto the table, counting stack by stack. After counting the last stack, he said to Louis, "Louis, there are thirty stacks in total. That means this is a total of 300,000 dollars!"

For a while, no one spoke. They were all relatively young, and the sight of three hundred thousand dollars left them somewhat stunned. Louis was the first to react, he pulled Steven aside and said, "Steven, tomorrow morning, take Eric and Henry with you. Deposit this money into the bank, but don't use just one bank, split it up. It's best not to exceed twenty thousand in a single bank."

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

Steven nodded, saying, "I understand."

Louis addressed everyone, "It's best not to tell our guys about this money for now. Let's use it as our starting capital. The four crates of weaponry aren't something we need to rush to get rid of. The situation is probably tense right now, and leaking any information would be troublesome."

Everyone nodded in agreement. Glancing at his watch, Louis noticed it was almost 8 o'clock. He asked the group, "Does anyone have any other opinions?" After exchanging glances, they replied in unison, "Louis, no more opinions." "Let's end it here for today. Everyone's tired, so let's rest!"

As the group left Spring KTV, Steven stayed behind and told everyone, "I'm going to hold onto this three hundred thousand and sleep with it tonight. Tomorrow morning, I'll head to the bank." Jack felt uneasy in his heart and pointed at Steven, accusing him of being obsessed with wealth.

Louis returned home and lay on the bed for a long time, unable to calm down. The events of today had left him quite excited. Under circumstances that went unnoticed by anyone, he had stolen a batch of military weapons from Tiger, along with three hundred thousand in cash. Louis had been worrying a lot about lacking capital recently, so the sudden addition of three hundred thousand felt like a dream.

Quietly in his heart, Louis started making plans for the future. His next step should be to contact Finger. If he could establish contact, he would be able to trace the source of Crystal.

The next day, at noon, Louis arrived at Spring KTV. Steven wasn't there. Louis greeted them and entered the inner room. He picked up the phone and dialed the number on the business card Viv had given him. His heart was a bit tense, uncertain if the number was still valid. After twenty seconds, someone on the other end answered, "May I ask who you're looking for?"

Louis took a breath to calm his nerves and said, "Hello! I want to talk to Finger!"

"I'm sorry, you've got the wrong number. There's no one here by that name," the person replied, sounding like they were about to hang up.

Louis cleared his throat and said, "You'd better not hang up just yet. I'm a friend, not a cop. I'm calling to discuss a business deal with Finger – a big deal. If you hang up now, you'll miss a chance to make some money." The person hesitated for a moment. After a while, a different voice came through the phone, "Hello, I'm Finger. What kind of deal do you want to make with me?"

Louis was straightforward, "I want Crystal. A lot of Crystal."

"You've got it all wrong. I haven't been in that kind of business for a while."

Louis chuckled inwardly. Finger had been scared off by the police, clearly highly cautious. So, he decided to play a cat-and-mouse game and said, "Well, if that's the case, I won't bother you. There are plenty of people in the world doing this business. I can find someone else. Just that a friend named Viv told me to look for you!"

A hurried voice came from the other end, "Wait a moment. Did you just said Viv?"

"Yeah, the owner of Ghost KTV!"

"I see! How about we meet and have a chat? Since you're a friend of Viv's, you're a friend of mine too. Even though I'm not in the business anymore, we can still be friends!"

Louis snorted in a low voice. According to what he had heard from Viv, she wasn't very familiar with Finger either. It was uncertain whether Finger even remembered Viv now. In saying this, the intention was nothing more than wanting to meet him in person, to check if he was an undercover cop. With this in mind, Louis smoothly went along and said, "Alright then! Tell me the time and place!"

This response aligned well with the other person's intention, and he immediately replied, "How about this? Tomorrow, you come to County H. At 5:00 p.m., come to the House KTV in the county. What do you think?"

Louis felt a sense of relief, but he didn't reveal it in his words. "Alright, then. You better be on time. I don't have the patience to wait for someone!"

The other person said, "We're always punctual. By the way, how many people will be coming with you?" After a moment's thought, Louis replied, "Just me."

"Well, what kind of clothes will you be wearing? We wouldn't want to mistake you for someone else!" "I'll be wearing a yellow casual outfit. Also, I'll be carrying a book!"

"OK, and what's your name?" "Louis!"

"Alright then, that's settled. See you tomorrow!" "Okay, see you tomorrow."

Louis hung up the phone and smiled slightly. Things had a beginning, and the rest wouldn't be difficult. With a pleasant mood, Louis strolled to the school. Just as he entered the classroom, Jack ran over, "Louis, Emily was looking for you just now. Seems like there's something going on!"

Louis responded with an "oh," thinking to himself, what else could that girl want from him other than food or watching movies? Despite this thought, there was a trace of joy in Louis's heart. Shaking his head, he took his seat.

Jack asked, "So, Louis, aren't you going to see her?"

Louis replied, "I managed to get in touch with Finger. I'll go over it tomorrow afternoon. Right now, I need to calmly think about our strategy for tomorrow."

"Great!" Jack knew how successful Crystal's business was, and it seemed like the gang was finally about to make big money. After being excited for a while, Jack continued, "But I noticed that Emily seemed really anxious when she came to find you. Could something have happened?"

Louis stood up and said, "Alright then, I'll go find Emily now and ask her!" With that, Louis went to the doorway of Emily's classroom and asked someone to help call her out. As soon as that person saw it was Louis, they happily rushed into the classroom.

Not long after, Emily came out of the classroom. Upon seeing Louis, she exclaimed loudly, "Where have you been these days? I've been looking for you several times, and you've been nowhere to be found. Tell me, have you found a girlfriend or something?"

Louis felt a bit dizzy for a moment, and he said softly, "I've been busy with things in the gang these days. We just established it, so there are a lot of things I need to take care of!"

Emily listened and felt secretly delighted, but she said, "Who believes your nonsense! Who knows, you might have been fooling around somewhere these past few days!" As she spoke, she moved closer to Louis. Louis was so scared he shivered, thinking his arm might be in trouble again.

Louis laughed and said, "How could that be? Emily, did you call me just to ask me about this?"

Blushing, Emily said, "Would you like to come to my house today? I've learned to cook a dish these past few days. I want you to taste it! Both my sister and brother praised how delicious it is."

Louis replied, "Sure, if there's nothing else, I'll definitely come. I'll taste Emily's cooking."

Emily laughed and said, "You better come, no slacking off!"

Louis assured her, "Don't worry, I'll definitely come!" Louis's response made Emily burst into laughter.

The day went on uneventfully. Around 6:00 p.m., Louis left his house and took a car to Emily's house. He felt somewhat nervous. Because at Emily's house, he might run into her brother, the legendary guy in the underworld, Dragon's leader - Emmanuel! Although Louis was a bit nervous, he was more filled with anticipation.

In less than ten minutes, Louis arrived at Emily's house, where Emily welcomed him inside. Louis looked around, nodding inwardly. Emily's house was like a townhouse with three floors. Such houses were quite rare. The living room was luxuriously decorated, and in Louis's eyes, it was even grander than a palace, although he had never been to one.
