I woke up way too early, it was about 5 am I needed to be at the Ceremony at 8 am but I was just too excited I couldn't sleep any longer! After eating and getting ready I went to James's house since we were planning on heading to the Ceremony together. I was still a bit bummed out about Scarlett but that didn't matter anymore since ill be getting my Gift or on rare occasions more than one Gift. It was about 7 am when I got to James' house, I knocked on the door to get him out I knew he was probably still getting ready since that's who he was but I could hope. To my surprise, he was at the door immediately. I guess being passionate about something can change you for the better.

"Good morning"

"Morning" James said still a little groggy

We then walked to the Ceremony I didn't even know how the Arch mages even granted powers. They say it just waking up something that's already there. But if I thought I was excited about this James was ten times as excited, I've never seen him twitch and look nervous my whole life it was quite the spectacle if I did say so myself.

"Why do you look so nervous"

"Well maybe because this day will dictate our whole lives?!" James almost shouted

"Ok ok I get it but we'll be fine, You and I will for sure get awesome abilities!"

"I hope you're right"

"I am" Speaking with confidence I didn't feel, that to speak the truth I was just as nervous as James.

Walking into the building where the Ceremony was held left me in awe at the size and beauty of the place, I couldn't put it into words. It felt like I just walked into the Royal Castle or something. If this was just the Ceremony I didn't want to think of how amazing the Castle was. I saw a lot of my classmates here as well including Scarlett... no, I couldn't get down on myself I need to stay focused. They say you could get a better ability based on your mental at the time so I had to keep it together. Waiting in the line behind James I couldn't help but think what would happen if I got a terrible ability, It really could ruin my whole life. I shivered thinking about that. After waiting for about an hour since the line was so long it was finally time for James to get his Gift I was excited and nervous for my friend since if he got something bad and I got something good or vice versa it could tear us apart. But just as he finished I saw a huge smile on his face so I could only guess that he got a good Gift, i felt happy for him but it was my turn now.

Walking up to the Arch Mage I could not help but feel a sense of dread but also excitement it was the strangest thing I've ever experienced. The Mage smiled at me as I walked up to him, which for a weird reason put me at ease. A magic ability? It had to be this was not natural but I had no more time to think about it since I was already right in front of him. He gently touched my forehead, but it felt anything but gentle as a strange power instantly flowed through me I felt like I was about to scream just as it stopped. It was done I had my Gift, it was time to look at what I got.

I blinked very confused I thought it was impossible getting physical Gifts. How did I get four Gifts? Only nobles get two but I somehow got four. So many questions flooded my mind, I knew I had to keep this a secret or something was going to happen I don't know why I thought this but I just had a feeling if I told people about my Gifts something would happen to me this feeling was terrifying. The Arch Mage asked me to please move because the next person had to go, and that's when I realized I was still standing in front of the Mage. I quickly apologized and moved out of the way towards where James was waiting for me with a huge smile on his face.

"You won't believe what I got!" James was so excited about what he had he was screaming at this point

"Shh, people will start looking."

"Oh yeah sorry about that but I just have to tell you what I got it's amazing!" Still talking louder than I would have liked

"Go ahead tell me"

"I got TWO gifts! One is called Mana storage and it's ranked at LEGENDARY can you believe it!? The other one is called Mana Power ranked at Unique. My Talent rating is an A rank as well! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT this could easily make me in the top fifty strongest mages in the country if I train it properly!"

"That's awesome James, I, unfortunately, was not as lucky as you were"

"That's not good what'd you get?"

"Well I got a gift called Mana Power ranked at Uncommon," I said trying to make my face look as disappointed as possible.

"That's terrible!" James said not hiding his disappointment at my 'Gift'

"Uhh yeah I think I might head home to think about this a bit"

"Yeah alright"

But just as I was walking out the Arch Mage suddenly screamed in excitement, I tried getting a closer look. What I saw was Scarlett standing there engulfed in blinding gold light. Everyone in the room instantly knew what that meant. She got a Talent rating of Perfect... I felt a bit of jealousy flood over me but then remembered my strange abilities and the fact that I got four Gifts. I left soon after, as much as I tried telling myself I got something good I couldn't help but think back to Scarlett and James. I had to test out these Gifts and see what they were about before I judged anything. Also, have to see what's going on with this weapon of mine.
