Chapter Three

I was instantly questioned by my parents when I got home and told them about the same fake gift I told James about, to put it lightly they were thoroughly disappointed as evident on their faces at that moment. I felt bad lying to them about this but the sense of dread I felt when I thought about telling the truth about my Gifts was enough to justify it. When I got back to my room I immediately tried looking deeper into my soul to find out why the weapon was just question marks. I chose to try to find the answer to that first since I felt some kind of draw towards it and since the Gifts were sort of self-explanatory I still plan to test them later though. As soon as I was in my soul I found all the information about everything

I focused on the Weapon trying to decipher the code or whatever it was I had to do. I was still extremely confused but it felt second nature trying to find the sword. After about ten minutes of focus, I felt something shift.

I felt at my limit just from that but at least I now knew the first bit of my Weapons name. It was strange its still only 9 am but after doing what I did to find the first few letters of the Weapon I felt exhausted, so I went to bed.

I woke up in a pit of sweat breathing heavily, I had no idea what was going on. I felt more confused than I've ever been in my life I hated feeling like this. I looked up at the clock and saw that it was 5 pm, so 8 hours of sleep just confused me more. I had only been busy at the weapon for about 10 minutes but it made me tired enough to sleep for 8 hours. There was something about the sword that drew energy from me. Wait sword? Since when did I know it was a sword? I guess learning the name of the sword helped with that. Ugh, I hated this feeling but I had to keep trying. I went back to my soul to try and find out the full name of the sword. This time I felt like I could go a bit longer so after about 20 minutes I felt another shift.

As soon as I read the name I felt all the energy from me get drained.

"What the he-" I collapsed after that.

A Swordman stood on a mountain of corpses looking out at the distance wondering when the suffering would end. Why do I still fight? I have nothing to protect everyone's dead. What's the point? What's the point of still fighting when you fight for nothing? What's the point of being the strongest when you have nothing to be the strongest for?

These questions went through the head of the man as he jumped down the mountain of corpses to continue fighting, destroying what seemed to be an orc the size of a house with one strike. Continuing to be a cog in the wheel that can't be stopped.

"AHHHHHHHHH" I screamed as I woke up from that dream. What was that? Or the better question was who was that? I was still in my thoughts when my mother ran into my room

"What's wrong? Did something happen?"

"No Mom I'm fine sorry was just a bad dream"

"Oh ok sweetie food is ready downstairs if you want some" With that she walked out of the room and back downstairs. I knew my mother had a good intuition about when there was something wrong with me. Suddenly I felt a terrifying feeling of dread so much so that I almost screamed again. I knew I had to go tell the Mages about this but I didn't know what to tell them about. I quickly ran out of the house as my mother screamed behind me asking where I was going, I ran and ran until I got to the Mage Center

but the moment I got there I knew something about the place felt wrong. I smelled a weird scent... It smelled like blood. Walking into the Centre i saw a woman fighting the Mages all alone. I knew i was outmatched here so i ran, ran as fast as i could.

I heard screams all around me as I ran, feeling a powerful presence following me. I just had to get to my house. My parents would protect me, right? Yeah, they would my father is strong. I was in when i heard my parents running out of it, probably sensing the mana emanating from that woman.

"Get inside Arthur!" My father screamed at me

"Okay!"

"Get in the Magic nullifying basement she won't be able to sense you in there," my mother said

"But I-"

"No buts go!" my father interrupted me

I felt like I was about to cry but I listened to them anyway since I knew they were right I'm the safest if I'm in that basement. But I just hoped they'd be alright. When i got in the basement I just sat there praying they were alright.
