Chapter Twenty-Nine

Scarlett and Michael were rushing toward the Demon Capital to get the orders from the King and inquire a bit about these soldiers that killed the Dwarf King. Walking through the courtyard of the Castle they saw soldiers sparring and speaking strategy, it seemed to them like the Demons were preparing for a war. Scarlett got even more curious about the plans of the Demon King after seeing all the action. She had an appointment with the King in 10 minutes so she made her way over toward the throne room, it was then that she saw him. Arthur standing next to the king with two other demons.

"Hello Scarlett and Michael, I have killed the Dwarf King and am planning to advance into Akippe to press my advantage, so will you finally join my army and help me to Akippe?"

"Yes, we did indeed say we would join when you started the Official War." She was feeling uneasy, Arthur was staring at her like a predator looked at his prey. She thought he was a brainless soldier, why is he looking at her like that? It was as she finished that thought that he disappeared.

The King has requested Arthur, Seifer, and Luna attend a meeting he was having with humans. They gladly accepted thinking they were going to be used for intimidation. After waiting a few minutes the humans walked in. Arthur instantly recognized them. Scarlett and Michael. Something inside him was telling him to kill them, but he didn't know what, he was struggling to hold himself back at this point when the King started talking.

"Hello Scarlett and Michael, I have killed the Dwarf King and am planning to advance into Akippe to press my advantage, so will you finally join my army and help me to Akippe?"

"Yes, we did indeed say we would join when you started the Official War," Scarlett answered

Arthur was starting to twitch. These people have to die. They were the reason he was here in the first place. 'Why am I thinking like this? I never cared for the humans after getting the eye. But now this feeling is almost overwhelming.' He tried calming himself to no avail. So he decided to give in to this primordial feeling, and he attacked Michael first.

'Gift of Speed, Flash step' Appearing behind Michael with his innate blade already in his hands. He tried cutting him down with all his might, when suddenly a hand gripped him behind the head, smashing him into the ground. It was the Demon King.

"Now now Arthur, I didn't say you could attack them now did I?" Michael was holding his neck in fright and Scarlett was just as surprised by the speed at which Arthur got behind him. Arthur didn't answer, continuing to stare at Michael with hatred. "Wil you behave yourself now little Arthur?" Arthur continued to ignore him. The Demon King frowned and started hitting Arthur's head against the ground over and over until finally Arthur answered.

"Fine" Arthur realized he gained back all his previous hate and emotions because of the event that transpired, he didn't know why but he did. He hated the Demon Queen, The Demon King, Michael, and Scarlett, he wanted to kill them but he knew he had to hold himself together to escape the Demon Realm first.

"Good boy" The King released his grip on his head and walked back to the throne calmly. "Now shall we continue with our conversation before it is rudely interrupted? Oh and before I forget Arthur you're dismissed, leave this room immediately." Arthur left with a calm expression on his face but inside he was raging more than he ever had. "Luna and Seifer follow him and make sure he doesn't get into any trouble"

"Yes, Your Majesty," They said in unison, quickly following Arthur before he could get far away. After about five minutes of walking through the Castle Arthur finally confronted them.

"We're you sent to kill me?" Arthur said

"No we were sent to keep watch on you" Seifer was the one who answered Arthur.

"I see, but I do plan to kill the Demon King." Luna and Seifer both jumped a bit at the huge claim.

"Well, then you'll have to die by my hands," Seifer said

"I'm stronger than you. I'll just kill you if you get in my way Seifer."

"We'll see about that" Seifer challenged.

Arthur and Seifer faced each other just outside the Castle in the courtyard. Luna watched on, not helping Seifer or Arthur. Arthur's sword could absorb any magic it touched, making it a deadly weapon against any spellcaster. Arthur used flash step which allowed him to move at incredible speeds, leaving behind a trail of afterimages.

Seifer was a powerful axe man, who wielded a massive axe that could cleave through anything. The axe was enchanted with a spell that increased its weight and force, making it a devastating weapon against any armor. Seifer also had a gift of super strength and fast reflexes, which made him a formidable opponent in close combat.

The two warriors charged at each other, clashing their weapons with a loud clang. Sparks flew as metal met metal, and the ground shook with the impact. They exchanged blows, parrying and dodging each other's attacks, trying to find an opening.

Arthur tried to use his Flash Step to confuse and outflank Seifer, but Seifer was not fooled by his illusions. He followed Arthur's movements with his keen eyes, and swung his axe with precision and speed. He managed to graze Arthur's arm, drawing blood.

Seifer grinned, and taunted Arthur. "Is that all you got, you pathetic human? You think you can beat me with your fancy tricks and your toy sword? I knew holding back against you in the sparring matches was the right call or I would have straight-up killed you!"

Arthur ignored his words, and focused on his strategy. He knew he could not match Seifer's strength and endurance, so he had to rely on his speed and skill. He waited for the right moment and then activated his sword's magic-absorbing ability.

He saw Seifer's axe glow with a faint light, indicating that it was charged with magic. He seized the opportunity, and slashed at Seifer's axe, hoping to drain its power. He succeeded and felt a surge of energy flow into his sword and into himself.

Seifer felt his axe become lighter and weaker, and realized what Arthur had done. He cursed and tried to pull back his axe, but it was too late. Arthur had already absorbed most of the ax's power. Seifer's confusion gave Arthur an opening.

Flash stepping behind him he aimed for Seifer's neck and sliced through it with his sword. He felt the resistance of flesh and bone, and then the release of blood and life. He watched as Seifer's head flew off his body, and landed on the ground with a thud.

He had done it. He had killed Seifer and won the fight.
