[ECHO]: Stage 37 - 97%
"It seems to be quite consistent..."
"Based on the technique. It should be finished at stage 2,500."
Visdre knew that he needed to wait years for it to finish. Luckily it made progress in his subconscious constantly.
Visdre also noticed a new change in himself.
He could always feeling the rotation in the back of his mind. It was always rotating in his sea of consciousness.
"Should I read ahead?"
He dismissed this thought. But his thinking was no longer as simple as it had once been. He started to get some unique ideas.
"If someone is able to write such a technique... where exactly did they get this information from? What have they experienced? Can I modify the technique?"
Visdre remembered that his version of the technique had deviated from the original.
"I am losing consciousness upon rotating my key. That is inconvenient. Is there a way to rotate it manually and..."
"What if I can keep both the consciousness of my body and my dream body in the white room..."
Visdre was unknowningly seperating his spiritual body and physical body. He started to try to use his eternal thread and the one he was born with at the same time.
This was easier said then done. He tried hundreds of times. But each time he rotated the technique, he failed to keep his body conscious.
There was three states he had. One where he was conscious in the white room, one where he was conscious in his body, and one where he was conscious in nothingness.
Visdre decided he wouldn't rely purely on this technique. He would do his own research and modify it. It had said he was destined...
He figured that meant he was qualified to make changes.
So he opened up a search engine on his computer and began to study sleep. But there wasn't much useful information. He tried searching about the "Path of Somnus". But the only result was related to the god 'Somnus' as well as the book he was already reading.
"The personification of sleep?"
[ECHO]: Stage 78 - 1%
Time kept on passing him by... by now he had read a lot of information on sleep, but found nobody talking about his experiences.
He tried searching "white room dream" as well. This yielded far more results. But it was stuff related to astral projection...
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
"Astral projection?"
Visdre remembered something. Something he hadn't thought about.
"All those books I've read! Aren't they similar in a sense to what I'm experiencing!?"
Visdre read many webnovels with MC's that started ordinary and somehow acquired supernatural power.
"Is the white room my golden finger? Or is it ECHO? Or the book?"
Visdre shook his head.
"That isn't right. Others can read this book. If I was unique, this book never would have appeared. I should've started with the contents of the book in my dream."
Visdre remembered the 'current universe' on the main page of the book.
"F555."
"What does this mean?"
Visdre had witnessed the rise of MC's in books and his heart was racing just thinking that he had truly stumbled upon something that could change his fate.
"But I am unique... others dream of randomness. I always have the same dream."
"Dreams..."
"Who am I?"
Visdre laughed and stopped thinking about this. He was having some truly ridiculous thoughts. For a second, he thought he was a god named Somnus.
But his entire life... he had been bullied and an outcast. He didn't have any supernatural power. He was just an outlier in society. On the bell curve, he was simply on the left.
He had wished to be smarter.
He had wished to be more popular.
He had wished to be successful.
But you don't always get what you want in life. He had long accepted this.
"I will never become smarter."
"I will never understand others."
"I will die alone."
Visdre remembered his childhood. The alienation and the lack of understanding. A new type of resolve was brewing in his mind.
"I can do what I have always done in life. The bare minimum. I constantly tell myself not to do something because it will never be 'enough'. I put the outcomes of my situation entirely on the environment and cards I have been dealt."
"I never thought to myself that it was my fault that I am in this situation."
"I never thought to myself that I could go further if I just took some risk."
"I have blamed the world for not accomadating me."
"But why should the world support me? Just because I exist?"
Visdre on the surface was living a life most would envy. He was born in a first world country. He had some education. He had a job and was even able to support himself and live independently. There were many that hadn't been able to do this in life.
But underneath the surface. He constantly compared himself to others. He always felt like he was an imposter in his own body. As if he was wasting his potential. Despite being constantly told he had none.
While others dreamed... he was alone in a white room. He was never allowed to grow or experience the fantastical.
Visdre decided to do something he had never done before.
He decided to take a risk.
"I could merely follow this technique made by 'HASHARAHHA14'."
"Haven't I always followed the path others have made for me? Have I learned nothing?"
Visdre opened up his browser and started typing with resolve.
'Astral Projection'.
He planned to use "Path of Somnus: God's Death" as the cataslyst to change himself. He didn't want to be 'below average' anymore.
He wouldn't listen to those that told him he was limited.
He would break his limits!
He searched up 'astral projection'.
He found a lot of things related to religion... it was just pseudoscience. There was no evidence to suggest that consciousness with functions could exist without the brain.
Visdre smirked as he had flashbacks to his memories of entering and exiting his source castle.
"How can I take the pseudoscience and incorporate it into the technique?"
"An out of body experience?"
Visdre had increased his visual simulation limit initially from creating the chess program in the early steps.
He left his house and went on a walk in the middle of the night at a park. He imagined himself exiting his body and veiwing his body from outside.
He was successful in his visualization.
But information was missing. His brain was just creating a fake experience.
"This won't do..."
"What I'm trying to accomplish... it isn't possible."
Visdre was smiling for some reason.
"This entire time... I've been following the technique incorrectly. No, I have been handling my entire existence incorrectly."
Visdre gazed upon his sea of consciousness and looked at the insane image that had been constructed.
"Let's begin."
