2: Chapter 4: Matter and Space

"Now that I have functioning time..."

"I need space!"

Somnus focused on 'Universe #01'.

"If you look at the solar system of my original world. The sizes were quite spectacular. A single earth can fit over a million of itself in one sun."

"Just like how Time has past, present, and future. Space can have three attributes. I suppose I can have length, width, and height."

"Exactly how big should I make a universe?"

"If it is too small. There is the problem of those that live in it finding the boundary."

"If it is too large. There will be too much empty space."

Just like how Somnus redefined what a second was in his universe. He then used the past familiar names to keep track of time. He was doing something similar here.

"There is also the speed of light or lack thereof..."

"In my reality. There is no such thing as particles."

"I suppose before I figure out space. I need to first design the maximum travel speed of information in my universe. Just like how sound and light have limits to their speed. Should I make things instant? Am I even capable of that?"

"How I determine this will affect a lot of the physics of my universe..."

"There are three things I must focus on."

1.) The base measuring unit for space.

2.) The information travel speed.

3.) The size of the universe.

"Everything is relative..."

"The world that an ant comprehends is different then that of a human. The scale and image seen are entirely different."

Somnus observed the node 'Universe #01'. He placed a simulated object. He then pushed this object in a random direction as fast as possible. After a tick. He compared the distance covered by calculating the starting and end point.

Since he did this calculation based on self generated momentum.

He named this unit 'motem'.

If one were to compare this to the speed of light.

Light can travel roughly 300,000,000 meters a second. Or if you were using old measurements. It can travel at 7,200,000,000 meters a second in his reality.

There are 60,000 ticks in a second (24 seconds/other universe).

That means that data is able to travel 120,000 meters a tick if it is going at lightspeed. This is if you are using math from other realities.

But such logic breaks down here.

There are two versions.

1.) A second from his past reality: 120,000 meters/s

2.) A second from his reality: 5000 meters/s

The second version is assuming that light adjust to his time stream. That is the version he uses to calculate a 'motem'.

But that version was based on the speed of light. Somnus was able to move the object far faster then the speed of light.

3.) A second from his reality: 15000 meters/s

The speed of data transfer is about 3x that of light.

So the motem's true base is 15,000 meters.

So 15 kilometers was a motem.

So he he now had the data travel speed and the base measuring unit. The thing he hadn't decided was the size of the universe.

Universe #01 blueprint was designed to be a cube.

He called this cube the boundary.

Inside of the cube was a double layered sphere.

This meant that much like the earth. When one traveled around the world. They would find themselves back where they started. It gave the illusion of being infinite.

But it was nowhere near close to infinite.

The radius of the sphere was 450 motems.

The height, width, length of the cube was 900 motems.

The sphere was perfectly centered in the cube.

You could think of the universe being only a bit bigger then the earth.

There was no stars.

There was no atmosphere.

There was nothing. Even the 'ground' wasn't matter.

"Now that I have the speed of information travel and time and space. My universe can process events. I just need to introduce various systems..."

Somnus couldn't exactly have evolution like that on earth.

1.) His universe lacked atoms.

2.) There were no elements.

3.) The universe was empty.

What he had built was essentially the 'skeleton' of the world. The actual sphere that would be in the center of the main sphere would only be a few motems in diameter. The rest would be the 'sky'.

"I need two systems. Much like energy and matter. Yin and Yang."

"I need to have a substitute of matter."

"Or redefine matter."

"Everything arises from the energy of heaven and earth."

"The five elements..."

Wood -> Fire -> Earth -> Metal -> Water

"My original world was a very technological one. There wasn't spiritual energy or supernatural power."

"But my reality doesn't have to follow such rules..."

"Everything must have a birth."

"Wood gives birth to Fire."

"Fire gives birth to Earth."

"Earth gives birth to Metal."

"Metal gives birth to Water."

"Water gives birth to Wood."

"Everything must have a death."

"Water kills Fire."

"Fire kills Metal."

"Metal kills Wood."

"Wood kills Earth."

"Earth kills Water."

"The cycle of life and death of elements has been constructed."

"The yin and yang of the heaven and earth must exist in harmony."

"Yin is the skeleton of my universe."

"Yang shall be the energy..."

"Life and Death."

"But what is the foundation of the elements themselves? What is it that they are made of?"

"There are no atoms in my universe. But there does exist the elements."

There was no big bang.

There was no blackhole collapsing.

There was no infinitely small point.

There was simply nothing.

Then there was 'something'.

That 'something' was Time Stream. History. Space. Elements.

A large amount of every element randomly appeared in a constructed world by Somnus's design. Since there was no microscopic organisms or hardly any atmosphere. Besides plants, there was no living thing in this world.

The inside of the cube. Along the walls was a moving data panel. This was generating his version of light waves. It didn't rotate around the world like a sun. But it moved up and down the walls of the universe. It was part of the skeleton of the universe.

A day/night cycle was created.

"Now that I have time, space, and matter."

"It is time to work on the spiritual side of things."
