Despite Tuu hiding well. Visdre was able to locate his coordinates. He soon found him and tried to get him to perform the ritual.
Thanks to Mark. Tuu disliked players.
The game did have hidden attributes. So relationship values could impact how NPCs treated you. Especially if you had a bad reputation.
But due to the NPCs being conscious. These values only affected their subconscious.
Originally, before getting killed. Tuu would perform the ritual for free. But the materials for the ritual were limited.
But when Mark killed Tuu. Tuu lost most of his supplies.
These items didn't just appear from nowhere. Tuu had traveled around the world and collected them.
These items were special.
They are called quest items.
A quest item isn't so important to NPCs. You need to understand exactly how the quest item mechanic works.
For players. Quest items didn't literally need to be collected as part of a quest. They were mini-quest in themselves.
For example.
If you went into the mines. You could look at ore veins and mine them using tools. You would then acquire that ore. That ore is a quest item.
A NPC can mine forever and collect an infinite amount of this quest item. But a player only gets one chance.
So despite the item being infinite. For players. It was a rare resource.
So if you mined a ore vein once. You wouldn't be able to do it again. Despite it reappearing.
Another example would be looting a chest in the wilderness. If it wasn't a quest item container. Looting it meant the future players that stumbled across it wouldn't be able to get anything. It would be empty.
But the permanent chest and containers in town. Some of them were indeed quest item containers. So you could loot a chest and acquire say a 'red gem'.
You would only be able to ever collect one in your lifetime. But if another player opened the chest. They would also be able to collect the 'red gem'.
Because this gem is a quest item.
Another characteristic of quest items was that most of them couldn't be put on the market. So if you wanted to acquire them through the auction house. You would find it to be impossible.
This mechanic was slightly evil. Because, if a player lost or traded a quest item. They could potentially lock themselves out of a quest permanently or at least until they tricked another player out of theirs. This meant if it was an access quest. They would be screwed.
The location of quest items, especially important ones was a secret.
If Visdre didn't have constant fragments of information being loaded into his brain. He might have to spend weeks collecting these items for the shaman.
The 'bag of holding' wasn't a quest item. So it could be sold on the market. But it was rare and people sold it for millions of gold coins.
You could check the auction history. So far, not a single bag of holding had been sold. Nobody had built up enough capital for it among the hundreds of players.
Visdre had already visited all known spawn locations for it. He had acquired one, but lost it.
So he had to deal with using regular containers for now.
Visdre skillfully collected all the quest items for the shaman and successfully blessed the stake. He now had a legendary item!
The blessed stake, despite the process requiring quest items. It wasn't a quest item itself. So it could be sold on the market.
But Visdre had no plans of doing this.
This was the benefit of being the creator.
Even Mark didn't bother with hunting vampires due to their immortality. He had tried using a stake. But that hadn't worked. He knew nothing about the quest Visdre had done.
This blessed stake was the perfect leveling tool!
Mark had trouble raising his level past 99. Visdre himself was only a level 21.
But vampires gave a lot of exp and due to being hard to kill. He could rapidly raise his level.
In Visdre's backpack. He had empty needles and flask and various items to help him with the quest. It was time to truly begin!
He went to the crypt where he had grinded ghouls before. He went to the back where there was some rubble blocking the descension down.
Using a shovel, he revealed a hole.
He took a hook and set up a rope to descend.
Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
Soon he found himself in complete darkness. He had a special mining helmet. There was a magic gem embedded on it. So the area was lit.
There were no enemies. This was like the calm before a storm. There were various coffins around. He opened some of them and got a little bit of loot.
Like a stealth ring.
Some health potions.
A bit of gold.
None of these were quest items.
He then opened up a coffin that was fake. Inside was a boarded up stairway. He took a crowbar and pried it open. He then descended down.
The area wasn't very big. It was suffocating.
Soon he reached the bottom and found a path. He followed this path through the cave and found a door that was stupidly big.
It was at that moment. His light shined on a group of bats.
But these weren't normal bats.
They transformed into vampires!
In one hand. He held his blessed stake. He also had a garlic necklace around his neck.
The enemies in this world were a bit unique. Some respawned and had no consciousness. They weren't like the NPCs and weren't too intelligent.
Some were bosses and had more intelligence.
It was actually rather hard to find a spot to grind vampires. Visdre just happened to have a lot of knowledge about this world.

Visdre charged at the group of vampires!
Unfortunately. This was a death sentence.
He lacked fighting skills and had no class or abilities. Relying on raw strength was rather cocky. To put things into perspective.
This group of vampires base strength value was 50. In all aspects they were 50+. They were as strong or stronger then a level 250 player!
This meant Visdre could farm these guys until around level 250!
They didn't seem to suspect their 'prey' to rush at them. Enemies could roughly feel the strength of others. This was the same for some NPCs. This is why Ooo wouldn't talk to Visdre if he was too low level.
This also meant that enemies might avoid or even run away if they encountered somebody too strong.
So this weakling attacking them in this way angered them!
But in this gap of time.
Visdre tried to stab one of them in the heart. But his strength wasn't enough to push it through their defense!
"Fuck!"
Soon he was swarmed as the vampires pounced on him. He held out his hands.
All of a sudden. On the brink of death. The vampires retreated.
Visdre was in a puddle of his own blood. His eyes were bloodshot. One of his arms was missing. His backpack had been torn to shreds.
His potions had shattered.
For some reason the vampires had retreated.
Visdre had no idea why. He checked his attribute panel.

His garlic necklace had long fallen off him.
"I became an undead?"
"I mean... that was my plan this entire time!"
Visdre was curious. Race changing was a concept in this world. But it shouldn't have been so easy. The odds of transforming into a undead from a vampire attack was pathetically low.
He originally had thought grinding levels would've been easy with the blessed stake. But the vampires were stronger then he expected. Basically, he was a bit cocky.
The odds of becoming an undead.
He had won the lottery! It was probably thanks to location. If he had only been bitten by one vampire. He might of never changed. But getting swarmed by dozens likely made the impossibly low odds more likely.
He was missing an arm but luckily, his health had stopped dropping.
He crawled on the ground and started to lick up his own blood. But this didn't help him recover.
There were different kinds of undead.
You had things like zombies, ghouls, skeletons, and ghost.
You also had things like specters, vampires, greater vampires, and liches.
Visdre felt that his transformation wasn't complete. Unfortunately. When he had licked his blood off the ground.
It was mixed with broken mana and health potions. He had overlooked this.
Health potions are actually a form of poison for undead.
His health that was already low finally bottomed out.
It reached zero. He then lost consciousness.
The vampires dispersed and Visdre's body started to transform. Visdre was quite shocked at this development.
Because when he felt himself lose consciousness. He didn't get the death screen!
But there was no system messages...
He felt his thinking slow down. It felt as if he had entered sleep.
He then opened his eyes.

"What... the fuck."
"These stats belong to someone level 250+..."
He picked up his blessed stake. It was burning his hand. His lost limbs had regrown as well.
Visdre felt he had some racial abilities. He transformed into a bat and flew out from where he had came from. The sun was out and his health started to drain. He ignored this and flew back to Libra.
He tried to enter the temple. But the burning sensation was too much.
He transformed back into his human form. But he felt something blocking him from entering the temple. The priest did not look at him as fondly as before.
Luckily. The blessed stake was carried with him along with his clothes. He still had the ring of Ooo.
The other NPCS started to treat him like he was an enemy.
The guards were soon called.
