Chapter 1: A Weird Technique

Chapter 1: A Weird Technique

Visdre couldn't understand why this book was so weird. But he felt an attraction to it.

He clicked on the first chapter:

Foundation - Getting Started

The page opened up and he began to read the chapter.

But he ran into an issue right away.

'This technique is [redacted...'

There was a word called 'redacted' that was red and it was distorting as he tried to read it. He heard cracking noises in his head and it transformed from being redacted to 'forbidden'.

'Do not practice unless you are destined.'

This text was normal at first. But it deleted itself and changed to:

'You are destined.'

He felt conflicted... he wanted to continue. But this book definitely wasn't normal. He thought to himself whether or not he should even be reading this.

His life is fine now, right?

No...

He was too intrigued.

But he felt that he was being greedy. There are people that would kill to be in his situation, even with his shortcomings. This book said it could make one eternal...

Wasn't that a curse?

He steeled his resolve and continued to read the book.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

It warned that those with aphantasia would find the book completely useless. While he was disabled mentally... at the very least. He could still visualize.

He felt a weird sort of hope for some reason. He wasn't sure why...

The first chapter talked of changing the default mode of the brain. Visdre was a bit skeptical... but he felt like it was worth trying.

The length of the chapter surprised him. It was incredibly short and simple.

He followed the instructions of the book and imagined a black square in his sea of consciousness.

"I will name you 'A1-B'."

It was in the middle of the night. So he needed to go back to sleep either way. But he felt he could get a headstart with the technique.

He visualized the black square for exactly 30 minutes and then went to sleep.

When he entered his familiar dream. Everything seemed to be fine. He walked up to the podium and flipped through the book.

There was a HUGE change.

The book was no longer blank.

It was filled with moving text that was shifting constantly. But that wasn't all.

The first few pages were readable!

It matched exactly word for word what he had read while awake!

"This... how? What sort of connection does my dream have with that book?"

Visdre woke up and meditated for 30 minutes on 'A1-B'.

He then got ready for work.

He was quite horrible in the past with interviews and such. So he was very grateful to have landed a job, even if it was simply moving boxes in a warehouse.

As he was working. He became distracted thinking about the book and his pretty good efficiency was thrown out of whack.

The others that worked with him thought he wasn't feeling well. So he got sent home early.

All he could think about was the book.

"I have to make a choice..."

He needed to decide something important.

"The book says to wait a week before continuing the inheritance..."

"Do I listen to the book? Or read ahead?"

Visdre figured the book was something supernatural. There might be a punishment for not following its instructions. But his curiosity was at an all time high.

"Alright... I'll read ahead a little. But I will properly follow the technique."

He opened up the website he used and found the book. He clicked the next chapter.

Step 2: Increase Complexity

'Thank you for dedicating an hour a day to meditating on such a simple image. Everything has to start somewhere.'

Visdre felt a little too guilty for not faithfully following the technique. He closed the chapter without reading further and decided to dedicate more time to it.

He meditated to 'A1-B' for an entire four hours.

From his job, he was quite good at doing repetitive task.

He found that shifting his focus to the black square was oddly relaxing. The stress and paranoia from finding the book seemed to vanish.

Instead... he was looking forward to the future.
