Atesh healed people all day. His energy was almost limitless thanks to his direct connection to the water dimension.
The time passed in a flash. Soon it was curfew time. The originally bustling streets became desolate and empty. Before he knew it, he was standing alone in front of the clinic.
The guards approached him.
"Do you have a pass?"
It was then that Atesh remembered the rule. You needed to be a permanent resident to remain in the town during the night. Even those that were residents, they couldn't wonder the streets at night unless they were an official magus.
Official mages had benefits that acolytes and normal people didn't.
"I don't have a pass... But I am an official magus!"
The guards knew they wouldn't be able to enforce this rule against an official magus. But one of them received a message from the wizard tower.
"Kutesh request an audience with you."
"Kutesh?"
They seemed surprised he didn't know about this person. They were the current operator of the wizard tower. Their influence touched all corners of the mortal world.
"He is the rank 1 wizard. The operator of this towns tower."
"I see..."
"Take me there."
Soon Atesh was taken to the wizard tower. His sovereign mind and soul felt as if someone was observing him.
His surroundings blurred and he found himself teleported into an office. He was facing Kutesh.
"I heard you are able to heal wounds and hidden injuries?"
Atesh didn't hide this ability at all. He had already publicly healed dozens of people in this town.
"That is correct."
"That's not all I heard. I hear you are a water mage. But your body doesn't radiate any energy particles. Are you even a mage at all?"
Atesh frowned, neither confirming or denying it.
"Is that all? I'll be leaving."
Atesh stood up and prepared to walk out. But he saw no exit. He turned around and saw Kutsh with a smile on his face.
"Why in a hurry to leave? I would like to buy the water treasure off you!"
"I'm sorry. I don't have any treasures on me."
Kutesh stood up from his desk and slammed it.
"Do you know who I am? I am part of the Scarlet family."
The magical fluctuations increased. The aura being given off from a top rank 1 official magus spread towards Atesh. But he didn't react.
"5,000 magic stones. I'm sure this will be worth the deal. Right?"
Atesh started to laugh.
He continued to laugh.
Kutesh's face started to twitch.
"Even if you offered me infinite magic stones. I wouldn't agree. I don't have any treasures on me."
Kutesh then spoke:
"A shame. I suppose I'll have to kill you and extract it from your body."
Atesh felt spatial fluctuations surround his body.
He directly covered his body in a layer of will. Resisting the banishment!
"It seems this tower allows you full control of its rules..." Atesh smiled. Kutesh was confused.
"How did you resist? You... aren't just an acolyte with a water seed after all. You are an official magus!"
Atesh used sovereign soul.
SOUL WORLD
The entire way he saw the world changed in an instant. Everything he saw vanished. All he saw was a world of souls. He could see the soul of Kutesh.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
He saw threads extending from the soul to thousands of nodes.
Atesh reached out his finger and 'cut' the thread.
Kutesh coughed up blood as he felt the connection between him and the tower destroyed. The tower for the first time in thousands of years became ownerless.
Throughout the millenniums. The Scarlet family would always pass the wizard tower on like a relic of history to their descendants.
Atesh split a hundredth of his soul.
[ECHO]: Soul stability is at 99%
He then split this part of his soul into threads and connected them to the nodes while Kutesh was confused. The tower's network went back online.
Kutesh looked at him like a monster.
"You! You!?"
"What are you?"
Atesh smiled.
"I've avoided searching souls this entire time because of how much stronger an acolytes soul is. Not only will it cause damage. But the bans may alert other existences..."
"But since you planned on killing me. I'm sure it'll be fine to turn you into an idiot."
"You! My family has a rank 4 magus! They will never let you off! You can't kill me!"
"Who said I would kill you?" Atesh sighed.
He forcefully searched this magus's soul.
The backlash from doing so started to damage Atesh's soul.

[ECHO]: Soul stability is at 96%
[ECHO]: Soul stability is at 95%
Kutesh started to laugh and drool. The intelligence had left his eyes.
"I see... you weren't allowed to 'ascend'. They needed someone to control this preparation stage for wizards."
"Well... this tower is mine now!"
Atesh felt the blessing of the tower.
"Oh? There is something similar to internet. Just not as much information. It seems you found out about me through it."
[ECHO]: Soul stability is at 99%
Atesh sat down on the chair and snapped his fingers. Kutesh's body was banished from the tower.
"The operator of the tower can control all functions. This tower was built by a rank 4 magi."
"Let's kick out everyone except me!"
Soon everyone found themselves booted from the tower. There was chaos and confusion.
"Unfortunately... the tower itself cannot teleport."
"Once people realize what I've done... I'll be fucked."
"Their family won't let me off. I could handle a rank 1 magus. But definitely not someone stronger."
"I'm no mage. So the spell models and database are useless for me... Perhaps the formations could be useful. I need to get to a safe space first however."
Atesh teleported using the blessing of the tower. He appeared on the roof of the entire structure.
"My will is limited. Normally, I wouldn't be able to do this. But if I use the tower like how I used my mental energy server. If I use it as an amplifier."
"It might be possible!"
Will wrapped around Atesh. It then extended down to the roof of the tower. It took an hour for him to cover the entire tower with will.
There was a vein popping out on his head. He looked as if he was about to have a stroke. But he started to lift the tower!
The acolytes and wizards looked at the tower in shock. Just what sort of strength does one need to directly take such a big structure!?
10 kilometers
20 kilometers
30 kilometers
40 kilometers
50 kilometers
Atesh was grinding his teeth as he felt as if he was going insane. He hadn't pushed himself this far before.
Atesh's body had been transformed by the inheritance of a water magus. It could withstand the pressure at the bottom of the ocean.
100 kilometers
150 kilometers
200 kilometers
Soon Atesh was deep in space.
It became far easier to manipulate his will once the gravity had weakened. He didn't stop. He kept going higher and higher. He used souls to determine his position and push it further and further.
"Kutesh has become an idiot. They don't know who I am. All they know is that I stole the wizard tower."
Atesh's will shattered as he relaxed slightly.
He wrapped it around his body again and spent some time flying towards the side of the tower.
"I'll transform this tower into a satellite!"
Atesh was no longer lifting it. He was pushing it with his body as he propelled himself forward with his will.
300 kilometers
400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1000!
For days he continued to go higher and higher. There was no atmosphere to breathe. He felt cold. But he had energy from the water dimension.
At around 10,000 kilometers.
He looked down at the world.
"This world's constants are different from my original universe. The speed of light is faster, the gravity is weaker. The world is larger."
"If I can get it to orbit around the world. I could potentially design a device that'll allow me to connect to it from space."
"I know nothing about real runes and magic."
"But this entire tower is like an academy in itself. I have time to study it. I think I'm high enough that no official wizard would be able to safely find me."
"My closed door cultivation starts here!"
Sovereign mind interrupted Atesh's plans however.
"Why do I feel such a sense of impending doom!?"
Atesh focused his sovereign soul and saw the largest soul he had ever seen flying towards him. Despite them being 9,000 kilometers away. He could detect them! This was thanks to their massive soul power.
"Dangerous!"
"Well... not everything goes to according plan."
"Do I stay and fight? This wizard tower I spent so much effort stealing..."
"Is he tracking me, or the tower?"
"Wait... where did the soul go-!?"
Atesh felt control over the tower get disconnected from the nodes. Somebody instantly connected to it and teleported in front of him.
This person looked like an old man. Peppered hair with a beard. Their robes were black, and didn't look like the type to belong to someone powerful.
Atesh tried to talk to them through soul.
But they flashed in front of him and punched him in the chest. The tower was made of magical metals. But he crashed through these as if he was crashing through foil.
His will shattered. His tempered body had a fist print in his chest.
Atesh lifted his head and coughed up blood.
"Wai-!"
He was hit repeatedly into the metal. He was going further and further into the wizard tower. Soon. He crashed through the wall completely and fell into a huge room.
An explosion went off with him at the center of the room and he was sent flying through multiple walls.
"I might've made a mistake..." Atesh sovereign mind told him to get the fuck out of there.
But he wasn't given a chance to recover. He was getting beaten into a bloody pulp.
Atesh couldn't teleport without the help of the tower. This master had already taken control of it back again. He lacked the blessing of the tower.
