‘My record in my past life was 6 minutes 15 seconds. My body isn’t as fit as it was previously so I’d be lucky if I can hold my breath for 2 minutes.’
The water smashed against his body as he tumbled about but he could be considered fortunate. The sides of the underwater river were smooth and not jagged or sharp. When he hit into the riverbank, besides a bit of bruising there was nothing to worry about.
‘67, 68…’ He counted the seconds as they ticked by. Slowly he had reached his limit at 104 seconds. He coughed out the air from his lungs and the water rushed in. He coughed again as his body contracted and tensed.
He was slowly losing his vision as he felt his body slam into the side of the wall, forcing him to cough once again.
Swoosh
He felt a desperate need to breathe but there was nothing he could do. The river turned and he smacked his head into the side, the force was hard enough to knock him unconscious. The last bit of air remaining in his body was flushed out as his vision faded into darkness.
He thought he was going to die but against his expectations he felt something slide down his throat, it sucked out the water from inside his body and then let his lungs fill with air again.
“Cough, cough, cough.” He spit out a few more mouthfuls of water as he opened his eyes in surprise.
“You’re alright? Good.”
As he looked in front of him, he opened his eyes just in time to see a long tongue being withdraw into a mouth. It was the same tongue he had felt shoved down his throat.
“You saved me? Thank you.”
“Yes, I did. Don’t mention it, and seriously. I mean it when I say, don’t mention it…Ever…”
The man had a very stern look on his face, in an almost threatening manner he stared at Lucif. But his reaction made sense, for a heterosexual male to shove his tongue down another man’s throat was pretty gay. Even though it saved his life, it wasn’t something he would brag about. If Lucif was a beautiful girl on the other hand, his reaction would probably be completely different.
“How did your tongue do that?”
“Don’t ask…”
“Okay…What’s your name?”
“My name is Sora Hebi. You know you were pretty lucky, over the last few years we have pulled 10 or so dead bodies from that river.”
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
Gulp, Lucif knew that he would’ve been the same if he hadn’t been pushed onto the shore where he was able to recover.
As he looked around he saw various humanoid creatures, they were human but they were also not. Some had animal like features while others were animals with human like features. They walked passed without saying a single word, all they did was make animal noises and bite the leaves. Their eyes seemed to lack any self-awareness and high level intelligence at all.
“What is this place?”
“You came to the Northern Jungle without knowing about its inhabitants? Are you an idiot?”
Sora stood up and his tongue flew out of his mouth once again. It was a forked tongue like a snake but underneath it, there were various small holes up and down its one meter long body. The small holes were glands used for lizard spitting but he could use them to drain water.
His tongue lashed about as the water was excreted from the glands. “The things I do for others, pfft.” He spat out all the water he had drained from Lucif with an expression of visible disgust.
“I only enrolled yesterday so I don’t know my way around. Are you guy’s human or alien?”
“Alien? Are you a country bumpkin? We are genetic experiments, also known as the outcast. Do you know who we are now?”
Sora was waiting for Lucifs expression of disgust but he never saw it appear.
“Never heard of you, sorry.”
“You’ve never heard of the ruthless, blood thirsty, impure, filthy and disgusting outcast?”
Lucif stopped for a second and raised his finger into the air like he had finally clicked on to what he was saying, “Ah, you have a fetish for being insulted and humiliated? Okay then, since you helped me out, I will satisfy your desires you disgusting piece of shit.”
Sora looked at him with a blank face and then turned around, walking out from the river bank back towards the jungle, no longer paying him any attention. ‘This kid has a few screws loose.’
Lucif quickly followed behind him as he made an attempt to catch up, “Kid, why are you following me? Go home, if the others see you they will kill you.”
Lucif reached out his hand and put it on Sora’s shoulder. Sora’s natural instincts kicked in and his fangs extended from his mouth. His circular pupils turned into straight slit like snake eyes as he bit down into Lucifs hand.
“Hiissss. Oh damn, sorry.” Sora quickly apologized but it was too late, he had already injected his deadly venom into Lucifers hand.
“Okay, okay. I’ll leave, I just wanted to say I was only kidding and I didn’t mean any…Wahh, what is that?”
As Lucifer was speaking he saw his hand growing purple and swelling in response to the bite.
“Did you just poison me?”
Gulp, “Ah, I may have accidentally done such a thing. But don’t worry, as long as you get the cure within 3 minutes you won’t die.”
“3 minutes? Well then, quickly hand it over!”
Sora scratched his head as a guilty expression appeared on his face, “So about that, um… Well, it would turn out that a cure doesn’t exist yet. My venom is a bit special, I’m really sorry about that.”
Lucif frowned as he felt the pain spreading through his arm, “What kind of hero kills the person he saved?”
Sora turned away bashfully, no longer looking at the dying Lucifer. “What’s your name kid? I’ll be sure to mark your grave so that your ancestor’s spirits can find you and carry you home.”
Lucif stared at Sora, his heart beat accelerated as he thought of a plan. With his good hand, Lucif reached down into Sora’s pocket and pulled out his knife. Sora almost had no time to react as the knife cut through the air.
