The buzzing sound grew louder the further he crawled into the cave. ‘There must be a bee hive or a wasp nest ahead. As long as they aren’t hostile bees I will be able to navigate away from them without being swarmed and attacked. But with a plethora of alien species it could be anything, I hope it’s not too dangerous.’
It was pitch black but his sharp senses allowed him to maneuver through the tiny cave. Up ahead he could see a flashing red light but it was still quite a distance away. The red light seemed to originate from the buzzing sounds.
“Glow in the dark bees? No way…” His first thought was that the light was being emitted from bees’ bodies something similar to glow worms. But as he made his way through the cave he realized he was completely wrong. What he thought was buzzing was actually red lightning. The buzzing was the echo from crackling red lightning that was currently bouncing off of the cave walls.
“Red lightning? Not good!”
He instantly turned around and tried to make his way out of the cave but it would take too long to maneuver through the small cave again. He started to look around, trying to keep himself from panicking as he exhaled all the air in his lungs.
‘Red lightning is formed when there is an abundance of nitrogen; this is a pure nitrogen environment. That means there is no air! It is also known as the silent assassin. It is odorless, tasteless and invisible. It is almost impossible to detect without the right equipment.’
Lucif had arranged meetings in the past with other high ranking leaders, mafia bosses and dons he wanted dead. He would drain the oxygen from the room and fill it with nitrogen creating a pure nitrogen environment, so he was quite familiar with it and its uses.
‘When you breathe it in, you don’t even notice it or feel any pain. You feel the same as if you were breathing normally. Then you pass out from hypoxia and die. Invisible, tasteless, odorless and silent. The worlds perfect killer.’
Lucifs mind started working at twice the speed as he tried to find an escape route. The red lightning danced around the cave almost endlessly. As the light shattered and spread out, it illuminated the room. As his eyes scaled the walls he saw nothing. The entire chamber was closed in and there seemed to be no escape. He could try scale the wall and see if there were exits above the ledge but it was 40 meters high. It would take quite some time to climb the wall using his bare hands and he didn’t know if he could make it in time.
Beyond that, there was still the problem of the lightning. If he was struck by that fearsome red lightning, there was no doubt in his mind that he would fall to the ground and die. Either by the lightning strike or the fall itself, the result was the same.

The situation was dire, a triple death threat was staring him down. He had been in many perilous situations before but this was one of the worst. He couldn’t find a way out, his only hope was to try and maneuver through the cave and go back the way he came. He didn’t know how far the nitrogen extended so hopefully he could make it out and breath in the pure oxygen that his lungs would soon desperately crave.
But just at this moment, another bolt of lightning shattered and lit up the ground. In the corner Lucif saw something that sent adrenaline up his spine.
“Is that a manhole?”
There was indeed a manhole in the corner, hidden by the shadow of a rock that was almost impossible to see. He didn’t know why it was there but now wasn’t the time to ask questions. He didn’t know how long he had been breathing in the nitrogen so he had to hustle ass.
He ran through the field of lightning, disregarded everything else and made it to the trapdoor. There were a few close calls as he was nearly obliterated by the lightning but in the end he made it there safely. He opened it up and looked down. There was a ladder that led into the darkness. He didn’t know where it went but it seemed to stretch on forever.
“Tsk, time to go.”
He climbed on the ladder and was about to slide down when a fresh bolt of lightning was attracted to his body and went straight toward him.
“No…!” His voice echoed across the chamber, but the lightning was fierce and moved at a speed that was invisible to the naked eye. Seeing the shadow of a bullet was one thing, but lightning moved over 300 hundred thousand times the speed of a bullet. If he made an attempt to dodge the lightning it would be futile because its speed was a third the speed of light. It had the ability to travel around the entire earth over 9000 times in a single second.
In fact before he even had time to yell out ‘no’ he had already been struck by the lightning and his yell was but a delayed reaction. The red lightning struck his right arm and started to spread through his body.
It quickly exited out of his left arm and flew back into the cave. His hands were red and there were Lichtenburg figures all over his two arms from the busted blood vessels.
‘What, I didn’t even feel anything?’ When the power shot through his body and quickly exited it left marks but it didn’t hurt him at all. He didn’t understand what had happened. But as he thought of this his eyes suddenly closed and he lost consciousness then fell down the manhole.
The nitrogen had overcame him as he fell like a puppet with cut strings towards the ground.
Splash…
After an unknown amount of time had passed, Lucif felt his head throbbing. He was incredibly light headed but he was glad just to be alive.
“Where am I?”
As he opened his eyes he felt himself being pushed down. Someone was on his chest, pressing down and then giving him mouth to mouth. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t open his eyes. It was like he was stuck in a dream land.
“Open your eyes….”
He heard a familiar voice echoing into his ears, but the sound was almost ghostly like it was nonexistent.
“I said, OPEN YOUR EYES!” Her next words were a yell that shocked him awake. As he felt his consciousness returning to reality he felt an incredible power rush into his body. Trees withered and animals turned to dust. The sky churned and the clouds collapsed from an unknown pressure the stretched across the entire world. The surroundings changed rapidly as all life withered away. She continued to cry and hold him as she urged him awake.
“MY SON, OPEN YOUR EYES!”
