An Immortal? What was an Immortal? It was a being that could live forever. It could live without the fear of death. The Immortals were beings above others that weren’t confined to the mundane things like time. An Immortal could do whatever it wanted. If it wanted it could spend ten thousand years learning all the knowledge in the Universe without worrying about growing old. The idea itself was a living fantasy.
Did such things exist? As Lucif thought over this he recalled a jellyfish from the deep oceans. It was biologically immortal; by reverting back to its younger self it had found a way to live forever. Were there other creatures in the Universe, perhaps alien species that could do exactly the same?
What kind of implications would that bring to the world? A tyrant that never dies, never sees his empire fall. A tyrant that lives forever, conquers forever and bathes in riches forever. What would have happened if the great conquerors of the past had lived until today? Would their empires have toppled over after their deaths or would they have lasted forever. Would they have formed massive space armadas like the UCA and branched out into the Universe? Conquering every alien species they came across.
It sounded like a fairy tale but Lucif had a feeling that this is what really happened. If they had the same leader for all those years that means the balance of power would never shift. As long as he continued ruling with an iron fist, no one could stand against him. If he suppressed all his opponents before they had time to sprout then his empire would continue to expand until one day, the entire galaxy is unified under one great ruler.
A person that stands at the pinnacle forever, a sovereign of everything under and above the heavens. No longer a mere man but a true Immortal God. Walking this path was no longer breaking the shackles but a godly ascension. From mortal, to immortal, to God.
He didn’t pursue the matter any further; he would research this information himself. Once again, he felt like a small bird lost in a wide ocean. His knowledge was seriously lacking, in both range and depth.
But for now, Lucifer was glad. The tests weren’t on general knowledge or something similar. He had to admit that this world’s educational system was a lot more relevant. They tested three areas; the first test was a simple test of memorization and comprehension. It was the simplest of the test but also one of the hardest.
The second was a test of determination and willpower; in that same test they also tested the user’s ability to process and implement new information. It was a true test of one’s problem solving ability.

The fitness test tested a student’s coordination, physical endurance, agility, deduction and martial ability. It was a giant leap from the standardized test of his own world.
The fourth and final test was a lot different; it was called the future prospects test. They wouldn’t force you into an area you didn’t want but according to your personality they would offer you a list of suggestions and career paths. You could choose which one fits your ideals the best. Because the test didn’t count towards his final score he answered the questions honestly. He wanted to see what the results were and what this system would suggest for him.
Funny enough, Lucif was given the ‘Great Commander & Chief’ as his first suggestion which was a near complete match with 91%. Second on the list was ‘Business Tycoon’ and the third was ‘Harsh Tyrant’. The first two made sense but how could one possibly pursue a career in being a harsh tyrant? The idea itself was silly and made him chuckle.
After a long discussion with the exam proctor he chose to study History, Robotic Engineering and Biology. They were three subjects he was completely ignorant about so no doubt he would struggle desperately for the first few months of learning.
Why did he pick these subjects? It was simple. He needed to know more about this world. Only an idiot goes out into the world without knowledge and understanding. History could teach him what he needed to know.
He chose the second subject after being completely impressed by the prowess of the robots. If he had an army of bulletproof robots, who could possibly stand in his way? And finally, he chose biology to learn more about the various alien races throughout the galaxy.
Although he cheated the memory test, he could still choose which class he was put in. He would choose classes appropriate to his level of learning. The main thing was that he passed.
Now all he had to do was wait for Aruna and Ambrosia to finish and hope for the best. He wasn’t confident they could pass, but he had been training them in the way of martial arts. They were intelligent but he had no idea how good their memorization skills were.
“It was a pleasure meeting a student as brilliant as you, my name is Adela. Here is my card. You are new here so if you need anything or need to know anything, then please don’t hesitate to ask. Although, your status is only that of a transfer student, this is only temporary. Once the principal returns we can upgrade you to your proper rank.”
She handed him a business card, this was the second one he received today. In fact, even the design of it was similar to the other one that he had received. Now that he took a closer at her face, she looked quite similar to Maria, the ISTC ticket lady. Maria meant eminent lady whilst Adela meant noble. Even their name origins were similar, perhaps they really were related.
He bid farewell and then flew out through the open wall.
“Ah, done already? Did it go well? Did you make the cut?” Her expression was full of anxiousness. She really wanted him to succeed but he came out of the first level examination room, not even 2 hours after he went in. That was definitely a bad sign and it could only mean one thing.
He failed, and he failed horribly!
