He quickly escaped their encirclement, he didn’t want to get trapped and then flanked from all sides. They pulled out their guns and started shooting but Lucifer ducked in-between another group and they were shot instead. Trying to use guns in an area like this was useless, there were way too many people and it was far too crowded.
Many of the people here also carried melee weapons with them. This group in particular had a set of duo knives. They were knuckle buster knives with a circular curve on the edge. They glimmered in the light and there were even faint blood stains on them, obviously they had tasted blood before.
Bullets flew through the air and the sound of clashing weapons sounded out.
Normal guns couldn’t pierce through their guard suits but the special guard weapons were like powerful, high caliber rifles squeezed into a little hand gun so it was understandable that they could break their armor. But these were just normal knives, how were they planning on breaking through armor that can handle 50 tons of pressure?
Lucifer didn’t know the answer and he didn’t want to take the risk in case the weapons themselves held some kind of secret. At the moment it seemed like every group had paired off and were now fighting viciously against the other groups. Lucifer ducked and weaved through the crowds and started striking them from their blind spots.
The team that were chasing after him were finding it harder and harder to get to him. They were trying to move as a group and were attracting attention, while he was keeping a low profile and striking from the shadows.
1…2…3…4…5…6…7… The numbers slowly tallied up.
As he jumped around he noticed that their weapons were capable of tearing through the guard armor but he didn’t understand how this was possible. He was only glad that he didn’t blindly rush in and attempt to go head to head.
His claws worked beautifully. They pierced through their underarm easy and he was even able to pull their heart out if he wanted to. But he chose not to, it was extra effort and he was trying to conserve energy.
As he jumped around he recognized some fighting styles, a lot of these guards knew martial arts. A lot of them were crude and their moves were sloppy but there were about five thousand or so at the level of a first degree black belt.
‘So I was wrong, martial arts do exist in this world.’ He was interested and wanted to challenge them to a fight but for now he had his hands full just killing off the normal guys.
Time passed and many had died, he cut his palm through the air and stabbed another person’s armpit but as he did that he lost his balance and slipped on the blood. He clenched his hand hard as he tried to hold on but the man’s heart was ripped out as Lucif slid down the stairs.
Doog, doog, doog, doog….
His butt bounced across the bloody stairs until he reached the ground. That’s when a siren sounded out.
Duuuuurrrrr….
Lucifer stood up and looked around, the staircases were slightly lower than the chairs platform and all the blood congregated towards them. From his position he could see, the 60 or so stairways had formed into rivers of blood. When he said he would make the rivers run with their blood he didn’t mean it literally but looking at the scene now made his anger completely dissipate.

His anger had been satisfied, for now.
Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap…. Raven walked forward and clapped his hands, “Good job everyone, lovely show of skill. Right now there are exactly 2501 competitors left.”
Suddenly someone fell to the ground and died. “Sorry, let me correct myself. 2500 competitors left, but let’s stop the killing for now. Each of you gathered together and killed an average of 10 people each, which shows you work well in a group situation and deal with problems well. Now to tell you what you were fighting for. Who here has heard of virtual reality gaming?”
“A virtual reality game? Hmph, I’ve played them. They were terrible, the quests were stupid and repetitive, the NPCS were like drones and the movement was annoying because I kept bumping into things at home when I moved around.”
Many people shared this person’s sentiment.
“Haha, don’t be silly. Do you think I would have held such a big competition for a game like that? No, what we’ve developed is a high tech, full dive virtual reality game. A game that actually brings your entire consciousness into the game, your body won’t be able to move in the real world but you will have perfect control inside the game. Not only that, but the NPCs Artificial Intelligence has been brought to a new level. There’s no point going on about this because you won’t believe me so I will let you see for yourself.”
He brought out a helmet that seemed to glow slightly. He looked around at the crowd, “Who wants to volunteer to go first?” As he looked around he glanced down to see ID: SATAN in front of him. “Heh, you’re an eager one. Alright then, you can come up first.”
“Huh…”
He was dragged up on stage where he was offered the Virtual Reality helmet. ‘Damn, if I put this helmet on right now everyone will see my face and know I’m an imposter.’
His hands didn’t move once he received the Virtual Reality headset and he just stood there looking for a way out. ‘Damn your fathers, your uncles, your aunties and your ancestors! Volunteer my ass, you just want to kill me. Tsk, I have no choice then.’
He suddenly ran towards the door with the helmet in his hand, dashing madly towards the exit. “What the hell? Stop him, stop him before he gets away!”
Raven hovered in the air, he personally didn’t chase him because he was the commander and chief. He could just order the men to seize him. As he dashed towards the exit, ten armed guards jumped out. “Hold on, don’t panic. Are you afraid of us seeing your face? You can’t be that ugly.” The guy snickered in contempt. Their blood was still rushing and they felt like doing some more killing.
Swish, swish, swish…. He easily ran passed them and fled out the door.
“What the hell?” Raven was confused by this development. How did he get passed the guards? Oh well, it didn’t matter too much. “Forget about it, let’s continue. Bring out another VR headset, who wants to go first?”
