Raven knew her new team would consist of people for other parts of the company. Those that do miscellaneous stuff and aren't yet in a team. What she didn't expect though was that there's gonna be just one. Just one person that was given to her team.
“Raven, meet Felix, he's gonna be your new teammate. I will try to talk with the higher-ups to put together a new team for 3D models, as well as some writers.”
“You can expect us two to program a whole game, right?” Raven said dumbfounded.
“I don't. I'm gonna try and see if I can get more people to join your team.”
Raven took a sigh of relief.
“So, Felix?” Raven looked at the young man in front of her.
“Yes?” He said as he smiled brightly.
“Let me show you the code that I've already done.”
They walked to Raven's desk, and Raven invited him to sit beside her. Then she loaded the code and went through the most important lines, giving a general description.
“Of course we would start over, with a new file and everything. But copying some code from this prototype would be quite useful.”
Felix nodded, as he tried to understand what was before him.
“So, what do you do in your free time?” He asked.
Raven struggled to think what does this have to do with the game, “I guess I mostly hang out with my friends.”
“So do I! We should hang out together sometime!”
Raven nodded, not really meaning it, “Okay, so what do you think about the game?”
This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.
“Could be better, so are you free tomorrow?”
Now Raven was starting to get annoyed, how did he manage to insult her game and ask her out in the same sentence?
“Well it is just a prototype,” Raven said, trying to avoid his question.
“Well, are you free tomorrow? We could go have a nice dinner, there's a restaurant that just opened up and I wanted to check it out.”
Raven sighed, co-workers don't go to a restaurant together, especially not for dinner! There was no doubt he was asking her on a date, except of course she's a lesbian, so it'd never workout.
“No, I'm busy.” She said, hoping he'd drop it.
“Then the day after?” He asked, with hopeful eyes.
“Can we just focus on the game?” She said, again hoping he would drop it.
“Just yes, or no?”
“I'm busy.”
“Okay, we can also do it somewhere else. Are you more of a coffee woman? We can go on a nice date to a coffee shop.”
He obviously didn't take hints well, so she just said, “No, thank you.”
“Why not?”
Raven looked at him as if he just said the stupidest thing. “Why not?” What kind of question even is that?
“I'm not interested.”
“Why not?”
Then thankfully Alexander walked by, “Dude, take a hint. She's obviously not interested.”
Felix rolled his eyes, “Okay.”
Raven felt so angry. He listened to Alexander, but not her? So annoying.
“I just need to check something,” Raven said to excuse herself, she needed to find Daphne, and she needed to calm down.
“Daphne, is there any way to get someone else?”
“What’s wrong with Felix?”
“Uh…” Raven tried to think of how to say it.
“He asked me out, and wouldn't let it go.”
Daphne made a sorry face, “I'm sorry, there's really no-one else at the time. But I'll for sure to try get someone new.”
“Thank you,” Raven thanked her. It's not as if it's her fault.
“In the meantime you can give him some boring tasks, you know, something to keep him from talking,” Daphne suggested to which Raven just nodded.
