Chapter 18: Concert

Chapter 18: Concert

It was 3pm. Everyone was gathered at the lobby once again. Some even painted their hair purple, or had that diagonal cut. And some, like Daphne, were wearing her merch.

Then all of them entered their respective taxis. And drove away.

Raven yet again got into a taxi with a random person she didn't know. It's not as if that were hard, with Daphne being the only person she knew here.

The ride there she just stared at the window, as she excitedly waited for the taxi to arrive. About a mile away from the concert she started seeing people wearing Aurora's merch, as well as having their hair cut and/or colored purple.

And then she saw it. The huge building with so many of Aurora's posters it was hard not to know that was the building she's performing at.

Raven excitedly stepped outside the car and waited to get further directions.

The CEO said, “We’ll be entering the concert hall in just a few minutes, we're just waiting on my son in law.”

Then the young man on his right got flustered, “He's my BOYFRIEND not HUSBAND. You can't call him your son in law! People will get the wrong idea.”

Raven looked at that guy again, and only after he said that she started to connect how similar he looks to the CEO.

“Oh, there he is! Now that everyone is here, let's go inside, you can find your places and please enjoy the show.”

The son-in-law took his boyfriend's hand and they, with the others, went inside the concert hall, which was already filling with people.

The stage was huge! With dark curtains covering the view from the crowd. Raven looked around, and she could see Tara, with the CEO, her boyfriend Grayson, and her bodyguard on a sectioned off part, which was higher than other people, just from their view if they weren't watching.

Raven looked around even more, yet she couldn't see a familiar face. Then everything went dark and you could hear the piano music start to play slowly.

The crowd cheered, as the curtains slowly lifted and revealed Aurora Reeves in the middle of the stage standing with a microphone in her hands. She was wearing a light purple puffed-sleeves T-shirt that sparkled under the stage lights as if it were made from thousands of little crystals. And a white knee skirt, with a petticoat intentionally peaking out. And to end the outfit she wore white block heels.

“Gather round gather round,” the music slowly started.

“Everyone hear this song,” her soft voice made everyone focus just on her.

“The blood is running through your veins,” the music's intensity started to pick up.

“Everybody scream the name of:”

“LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!” The crowd streamed in response.

“Wo, wo, wo!” She sang further, and then pointed with her hands back to the crowd.

“LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!”

“Wo, wo, wo!

I don’t know the lyrics of this song,

I don’t know how the melody goes

And it shows!”

Now even Raven was jumping with other fans screaming the chorus, “LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!”

“Wo, wo, wo!”

“LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!”

“Wo, wo, wo!”

The song continued, with Raven completely immersed in it, not even noticing how sweaty she's become from all the jumping in a room filled with people.

“LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!” Aurora sung the last lyric of the song, and everyone in the concert hall screamed, and cheered back at her.

“God, that song was so amazing!” Raven said to herself.

Then Aurora stepped to the side a bit, picked up a water bottle from the piano and drank it. Then the new music slowly started, and Aurora returned to the center of the stage.

Aurora's melodic voice filled the room once again, making Raven forget about whatever she was thinking just moments before and just follow the lyrics.

After a few songs, Aurora stepped away from the stage for a break. There was slow music playing, with a timer on the screen counting down fifteen minutes, which seemed right about enough for Raven to go outside the concert hall and to the bathroom.

On her way back, there was a stall selling food and drinks, and with a bit of time left, Raven decided to go check it out. She quickly scanned the stall, a few different flavors of Blue Lagoon, some fries, and burgers. And alcohol?

Raven knew she was exhausted, so drinking alcohol would make her drunk even faster than normally, but it's not as if they were selling it in large quantities or with a large alcohol percentage. Just one drink couldn't hurt anyone, right?

And so Raven paid for her beer, drank it, and then squeezed past people, trying to get to the concert hall once again. The timer had one minute left.

The timer slowly descended, as people started chanting numbers, “55! 54! 53!” And the lower it got more people joined in.

“ZERO!”

All the lights closed, and then the light on the stage opened once again, with Aurora on it. She started singing the next song.

By trying to get a better spot, Raven moved against the crowd, and once she settled in and started dancing again, her boss caught her eye.

Daphne's silky brown hair glittered from the lights that were coming from the stage. Her body was moving in rhythm, with the most beautiful smile plastered on her face. Her lips, moving as she sang along to the song. Her eyes, like two pearls, staring at the stage. She looked so beautiful.

Raven moved closer to her, but the crowd worked against her, and she had trouble moving forward.

The next song started.

Raven’s head was already spinning, she vastly underestimated what adrenaline, mixed with exhaustion, and alcohol can do, as she was already drunk.

Raven finally moved close to Daphne, who just realized Raven is here too. She waved to her.

“You look so beautiful,” Raven said, Daphne smiled and nodded.

“You're the prettiest girl I've ever met.”

Daphne nodded again.

“I really like you. Would you go out with me?”

Daphne nodded and smiled. Raven then turned her gaze back to the stage.
