Chapter 17: Lunch

“Ahh! I got to take a picture with her!” Raven said to her phone.

“I'm so happy for you! When you return back you'll have to show me all the photos!”

Raven furiously nodded, before remembering that she's on the phone, “Of course! Also Tara and her boyfriend are going to the concert with us!”

“That's so cool! What was his name again?”

Raven guessed, “I think that the CEO called him Grayson?”

“Oh, right. Now I remember! He is also going to star in that new movie, Life of a Butterfly!”

Hearing Bella say the name of the movie made Raven jog her memory, as she remembered seeing some promotional material for it. Guess Grayson wasn't that small of a deal, though he was in no way at Tara’s level.

After Raven finished with the call she returned back to her hotel room.

“Hi!” Daphne greeted her.

“Hi!” Raven said back.

God, that was awkward. Raven just sat on her bed, put on her headphones, and started watching some Void videos.

After a few minutes Raven was thinking too much about the concert she was going to today, and so couldn't really concentrate on anything else. She sighed. Maybe she should go to see when they serve lunch at this hotel. Sure, it was only 11am, but if they start at 12pm, she wanted to be the first in line. Since as soon as she ate lunch, she could start getting ready for the concert, because the last thing she'd want is to be late for something so important.

“Oh…” Raven disappointingly stopped after she saw the schedule for the lunch saying they start serving at 1pm. That's two hours from now, that's such a long time.

“Lunch is at one.” Raven told Daphne after returning to their room.

“Thank you for letting me know,” she said.

Raven couldn’t sit back down, so she started getting everything ready for the concert, so that after lunch she won't have to search for things.

After setting everything up, she sat back on the bed.

“Excited for the concert?” She asked Daphne.

“I'm looking forward to it, yes,” Daphne answered.

“That sounded so corporate.” Raven called her out.

“Well, I am your boss.”

Daphne was right, what was Raven thinking talking to her as if she were her friend. And then calling her out when she didn't reply as one? Raven sighed. Just because they share a room doesn't mean they'll become best friends or more… Raven shook her head at even the thought of that. No, Daphne was her boss. What was she thinking? It must be these weird circumstances messing with her head.

Raven went back to watching Void videos. Just a bit more and it's gonna be lunch time. She can wait that long.

Immersed in a video, Raven didn't even realize when it turned 1pm. But thankfully Daphne did.

“Hey, I'm going to lunch, will you go as well?”

Raven looked at the time. It was 1:07pm.

“Yes, I'll be there in a few minutes,” she said as she looked at the runtime of the video she was watching. It was so close to the end, and Raven already hated being disrupted, even if she secretly, in her mind, thanked Daphne for reminding her of the time.

“Hi, I'm here with the company. How exactly does this work?” Raven asked one of the waiters.

“Ah, yes. Your company already paid in advance, so please just show me your ID, and I'll check you off the list. You can select any one of the main dishes, a salad, and a drink.”

Raven scrambled around her purse for a second until she found her driver's license. The waiter nodded, and Raven then went to sit down at one of the empty tables and looked at the menu.
