Chapter 19
“Uhh..Yeah,” said Mark with a weird expression before turning towards the old man, “Hello Elder I came to request for advice.”
“Young one, I would love to give you advice,” said the old man kindly, “What might you want to know?”
I hope what Dylan told me works thought Mark.
“Me and my sister here,” said Mark tugging onto Riley’s arm, “Have traveled here from a faraway land. We do not know any of the customs of these lands. I would like your advice on what I should do to accustom myself to these lands.”
“Hmm...Yes it’s quite hard to find a polite newcomer such as you,” said the old man gesturing towards the other players with disgust in his face, “ I quite like how you talk unlike these unruly foreigners.”
The players that were closer and had heard him nearly lost all calm as the smiles that were on their faces dropped.
Yes it works! Thought Mark while jumping in joy on the inside.
“With a young man such as you, my heart has calmed knowing the future is bright with you,” said the old man seriously, “Come, come closer.”
Moving closer the old man firmly gripped onto his shoulder not letting go before whispering into his ear. “You may think I am a senile old man that cannot see a act but hehehe…”
Feeling his warm breath against his ear Mark coldly shivered hearing each word that came out of the old man's mouth.”I don't know what you’re talking about,” lied Mark switching into his old business persona.
“Hehehe..Good kid, You know what I mean,” whispered the old man letting go of his shoulder and stepping back.

“I truly don't know what you’re talking about, “ said Mark gravely grabbing onto Riley’s arm again.
“Hehehe,” chuckled the old man, “POLICE!”
“Shit!” screamed Mark pulling onto Riley’s arm, “Run!”
Running through the crowd he couldn’t help but think how unlucky he was remembering his old friend Dylan’s words.

“When you start the game find a old man and say the lines ‘I have traveled from a faraway land. I do not know any of the customs of these lands. I would like your advice on what I should do to accustom myself to these lands.’ There’s a 97% chance that the old man will think you are polite and then he will whisper a weird sentence. Then he will prompt you to go to the Job house. It’s the place in the game where you could learn skills and such. If you say the weird sentence you could get a pretty good skill in the beginning for free but it's totally random,” said Dylan.
“What happens if it fails?” he asked.
“That’s unlikely I mean it’s 97% unless you’re really unlucky I wouldn’t expect it to happen. Well if you do fall into the 3% he would call for the guards that will lock you up for a while. To be exact a month in game. Well if that happens somehow you better start running and escape the city and go to another city…”
“Wait, wait why the hell would he throw you into jail?”
“Apparently the players are kinda like foreigners to the NPC’s and the NPC’s are apparently programmed to be naturally biased towards the players. So even a little thing like lying would probably incite the hate of a whole town,” continued Dylan.
“What the hell..” he muttered.
“Actually it’s kinda impossible to actually escape the city,”continued Dylan ignoring his comment.
“What, why?”
“Well..The game is set into the future apocalypse. Even though it is a apocalypse they still have super fast vehicles like cars that could probably hit mach 1.”
“So..No escape.”
“Yep, no escape.”

“Mark, what happened?” asked Riley chasing after him.
“I screwed us over,” grumbled Mark twisting into a alley.
“What? How?” asked Riley following closely behind.
“Let’s just say you’ll know in the future,” said Mark
