What happened at the showers drove SolHi completely crazy. Because of this, she was punching the punch bag for about three hours already, making the gym powerfully resound because of her scream and heavy breathing that was similar to the sound made by a steam train.
She was in the gym of the police station for many hours already, but this didn’t make her feel better. She didn’t even feel that the tiredness from her bones vanished or forgot about what happened with DooSan. On the contrary, she started to see DooSan’s face more and more often, provocatively smiling at her as though he won a big battle in front of her. Then, suddenly, she felt even more powerless than she felt before entering the gym, something that made her scream eventually:
„He’s a prosecutor now?! What the hell does this mean? More than that, why did he choose my team to extend his power? What else does he want from me? I paid more than I should have paid that night. Even if I killed someone then, I paid more than I would have paid in a maximum-security jail. Yet, it seems that it doesn’t matter for Han DooSan. On the contrary, he’s asking for more. Like a hunting dog that is able to stub his teeth into the victim’s throat and never let him go. Not until seeing him lifeless.” While yelling this, SolHi felt more and more agitated. How not feel so when she knew well whom Han DooSan was in fact? She was his victim for more than seven years already, a rivalry and hatred that seemed not to end too soon between them.
Thus, feeling all this, SolHi shouted again, „Just let me alone, for God’s sake!” After that, feeling the blood boiling in her veins because of anger, she kicked the punch bag. She kicked it so hard that even the punch bag hit her too, throwing her to the floor eventually.
There, sitting on the floor while supporting her head with her palms, SolHi continued to breathe loudly, trying to calm down. Something that didn’t happen eventually. She even started to feel worse than before. She felt desolated and lonely as though the entire world had collapsed over her shoulders, making her understand that after that day when she met DooSan again, she wouldn’t be able to control herself anymore.
Actually, at one moment, she desired to have died that night. At least, this way, she wouldn’t have felt the pressure in her chest. A pressure that was killing her each time she was seeing DooSan. And, more and more often, she felt that she was about to collapse.
Even so, a different thought suddenly crossed her mind. „He’s so sexy, this motherfucker,” she surprised herself by saying this. A thought that she quickly chased away because it was impossible what she thought about. Moreover, it was the last thing she needed at that moment: to fall in love and suffer because of an impossible love. „No,” she finally said. „I loved once and I suffered. It was enough for me. Yes, I lost too much because of my heart, the same night when my life finished, and all this because I trusted the wrong man. The one who finally knocked me down and turned me into the monster I am today.”

THREE HOURS BEFORE
„Are you a dog or something, Ian SolHi? Because of this, you bite people just to take revenge on them? If yes, then you are wrong because he’s your boss now!” Kan yelled at SolHi as loud as he could. A scream that made the empty meeting room resound as though it was a ghost room.
„My boss? What the hell are you talking about right now, sombe? How can Han DooSan be my boss? As far as I know, the person in charge of the Homicide Department is you. You and nobody else,” said SolHi, staring at Kan while waiting for a logical response from him.
Thus, while staring at him, she understood that something in Kan’s behavior was making her nervous. That’s why she started to move her foot at one moment nervously. Then, understanding that she wasn’t able to stay in one place anymore, SolHi started to move back and forth in front of Kan.
She stopped eventually when she heard Kan saying, „You are who said that: I’ve been your boss, until recently. I'm not anymore. Why? Because our team has been disbanded. And, if we don’t want to beg in the street to have what to eat, we should move to the Prosecution, working under Han DooSan’s command.”
„What?” Yelled SolHi as if saw the devil. „To work with Han DooSan? I’ll better die. And… sombe, how the hell can you tell me to work with him? You know very well what this man did to me. You must be crazy asking me to work under his command when we hate each other so much. We hate each other, sombe! We’re lurking in the darkness for the other one to be alone and stub our teeth into his throat. A hatred that makes impossible a collaboration between us. Only if one of us badly wants to die.”
„Then… kill each other and stop this nonsense fight that will bury us all.” Saying this, Kan started to shake like an Aspen leaf. Why? Just because he started to hate the fact that everything was working badly lately. He started to hate everything related to his work after he found out that day that SolHi was the reason why his team had been disbanded. And, if he didn’t want to die because of hunger, he had to start working for the Prosecution, under Han DooSan’s command, like a special team, a pilot one. Yet, it was a safe working place for all of them. At the same time, Kan understood something else that day: that he’d been wrong to accept SolHi in his team. Thus, he gave DooSan the chance to make them enter that dangerous game he and SolHi were playing.
Even so, even if Kan knew all this, he still didn’t dare to tell her this. Yes, he couldn’t tell her that he’d been unable to protect her or his team. The only thing he could do was accept what others were telling him to do. Something not easy at all, especially because of that mindless person, Ian SolHi, who was staying in front of him, stubborn like a donkey, at all willing to accept that offer, even if both of them knew that it was their only chance to survive.
And… There was one more reason why Kan had to force SolHi to work for DooSan: he was 45 already, too old to be a candidate for another job or enter another team, not talking about starting something new in a different sphere. Thus, understanding that the only chance to convince her was to be a kind of butcher for her, Kan started to hate himself for this and the entire system that was forcing him to act like this. More than that, for the first time in those three years, since SolHi started to work for him, he once again understood that he’d been wrong in accepting her.
Yet, even if he disliked all this, he had no other choice than to convince her. He had to do this, at any cost, even if this meant that he had to be rude to her. That’s why he told her in a reproachful voice, „You know very well that you are the only guilty person for what happened, SolHi. You should take responsibility for all of us because of this. Especially for me, who has nowhere else to go if they fire me. Thus, if you respect me at least a little bit, you’ll accept to join the Special Group organized by Prosecutor Han. If not… I’ll live in the street because I’m too old to join another group or start something new. So, if you don’t want me to regret that I accepted you on my team three years ago, do as I said.”

Hearing him talking like that, SolHi froze: it was too much for her to hear what he said, it was even more than she had ever expected to hear from him. Yet, she was aware that Kan was right in saying that he’d been the only one accepting her in his team, three years ago when nobody wanted her for considering her an assassin. At that moment, she couldn’t pay for her food or an apartment because nobody hired her except Kan. Even so, listening to what he said, she felt disappointed.
Nevertheless, even if those words hurt her, she had to accept that only thanks to Kan she’d been able to stay on her feet and move on. That’s why she felt responsible for him. How not, when four years before entering the police and while still learning in the Police Academy, she lived at Pack Mina’s expense? And, even if Mina never said a word about this nor reproached her that she wasn’t able to pay for anything, SolHi felt like a nobody, someone unimportant to be called someone. That’s why, because she couldn’t accept living at her friend’s expense anymore, she decided to enter the Police Academy, turning into a detective.
Actually, the police station was the only place where she could work after being left free by the Supreme Court of Justice. Yet, even if she was free, she wasn’t declared innocent. She’d been released only due to a lack of evidence, something that didn’t help her to be accepted in society, still being considered the assassin of a good man. She was considered a nobody, someone guilty, who should have paid for what she did. Yet, even if she knew that everybody was blaming her for what happened seven years ago, SolHi never expected that Kan would judge her too for what happened then. This hurt her a lot.
Eventually, when Kan told her, „I know that’s hard for you to accept this, SolHi, but we have no other choice. More than that, it’s an order we have to accept and fulfill it,” she bitterly smiled.
After that, SolHi stared at Kan with eyes in which hatred and disappointment could be seen. At the same time, in her head, a thousand thoughts were running at the same time without being able to control them, just as she was unable to control the emotions she had. Even so, she was confused because, on one side, she understood that she had no other choice than to accept DooSan’s offer, but… on the other side… her heart was stubborn and yelled at her to run away, as fast as she could, or she’d be trampled under feet eventually. However, even if she understood all this, she said eventually, „Is this your last word, sombe?”
„I have nothing else to say.” And it was right because he decided to make her accept those conditions at any cost. Yes, he decided to force her to do that because he loved that mad person with all his heart, like a father, who loves a daughter, or a mentor feels for his pupil. He started to love her after he found out who she really was and he found out this while working side by side with her for three long years. That’s why he knew that he had to win in front of her because he couldn’t allow her to destroy her future and be knocked down again.
Eventually, he looked at SolHi when she said, „Then, if you have nothing else to say, I’ll say this: don’t complain when one of us turns into a criminal, sombe. And I assure you that the criminal, in this case, will be me because… maybe Han DooSan is a hunting dog, yes, but I’ll be the prey who’ll kill him in the end.” After that, she simply walked away, slamming the door behind her.

Out of the meeting room, SolHi saw DooSan sitting on one desk, with an ice bag on his left wrist. He also saw her next to the door. That’s why, to make her feel guilty, DooSan made those puppy eyes, who was suffering so much because of the wound she made by biting him. He even moved that bag to the side for her to see what she’d done to him. Thus, SolHi could see that red mark made by her teeth, which she deeply stubbed into his skin. And, even if she badly wanted to make him pay for everything, SolHi knew that it wasn’t the right moment. That’s why she decided to go away, passing by him without even looking at the man that made her suffer so much.
Nevertheless, when the devil wants to play, DooSan talks. So, he had the genius idea to say, „She has the devil’s eyes, with the eternal fire reflected in them,” right when SolHi was passing by. Thus, forgetting about her promise, because that commentary managed to drive her crazy again, SolHi looked at him with beast eyes. After that, she stopped, squeezed her fists, a movement that made the other detectives, who were also at the office at that moment, attentive. They even right away stood up and went away, knowing very well what SolHi was capable of when she was crazy. Only DooSan kept sitting on that desk, even if he noticed the „fear” of the other detectives. Something that didn’t bother him at all. He only kept caressing his injured wrist, blowing cold air to „calm down” his red skin.
Then, suddenly, a flying object - a chair - passed by DooSan’s right ear. Something that made him wince eventually and stand up. And, looking behind him, he saw the chair breaking down one of the computers. Something that made him murmur in the end, only to provoke SolHi, „Uff, it’ll be expensive to pay it back.” After that, he looked at her, grinning.
Yet, instead of a scared glance or seeing remorse in her eyes, DooSan really saw the eyes of the devil - SolHi’s eyes. Something that DooSan wanted in fact: to drive her completely crazy and attack him. Thus, she would have given him the chance to use it against her and judge her in a new trial, sending her to jail or closing her inside of a cage, like any other wild animal that didn’t know how to act among humans. Nevertheless, to his great surprise, after throwing that chair, SolHi simply went away.
Seeing her leaving, DooSan cooked his nose. „It’s ok, Han DooSan, let her go if she wants this. Anyway, she won’t escape from you so easily. Not now when she works under your command. Thus, as you have her in your paw, working for you, it gives you the perfect chance to make her crawl in front of you, begging for mercy.”
Eventually, seeing Yoon Suk approaching him and bringing another bag with ice, DooSan kept silent. Even so, Yoon Suk managed to hear what DooSan mumbled while he approached him but said nothing about this. He only threw the bag to DooSan, forcing him to catch it on the fly while dropping the other one. After that, Yoon Suk told him, grinning, „It’s something you’ll remember for a long while,” while looking at the red mark of teeth on DooSan’s wrist.
„Yeah, I must accept this: she has sharp fangs,” said DooSan, forcing a smile.
„The only Hunting Dog here, who’s actually very well known by others, is you, Prosecutor Han. Even so, I won’t deny that SolHi can also be a mad pitbull if she’s attacked and… I assure you that she’s not submissive. That’s why I allow myself to give you a piece of good advice: be careful while being here, Prosecutor Han, in the world of hyenas where you came alone. Here, where you’ll definitely regret doing everything to knock her down and forcing her to work for you, after everything you've done to her.”
Hearing Yoon Suk talking like that, DooSan cooked his nose. After that, when Yoon Suk turned his back to DooSan and went away, he looked behind him while murmuring somehow in an irritated tone, „Is he in love with her or what? Damn, I didn’t expect she’d have someone protecting her or… admirers.” A commentary that sounded more like something said because of jealousy. Thus, realizing that he was acting weirdly, DooSan shook his head to chase that thought away. Moreover, when he realized that Yoon Suk talked to him calmly and not threatened him. That’s why he smiled in the end, saying in his head this time, „Well, let it be as they want it to be. In a way or another, I’ll find out what’s between them and then, yes, I’ll do whatever I can to make them pay.” After that, standing up, he headed toward the exit door.

In front of the window that was separating the meeting room from the rest of the police station, Kan looked at DooSan, who was leaving. And, in the end, smiling, he said, „You’re the only one to blame for entering the wolf’s mouth, Prosecutor Han DooSan, even if you aren’t aware of this yet. Yes, you’re definitely blind and a blind person always makes mistakes. That’s why, I’m sure now that you have only two ways to get out of this: loving her or dying, and… I just hope not to zip another mortuary sac with your body inside it, Han DooSan. If this happens, then… I’m definitely cursed because it’ll be the second time investigating the death of a Han.” After that, Kan grinned, like a monster, the guilty one for everything that happened to SolHi and DooSan in the last few years, the real criminal that was lurking on them from the shadows. A friend with sharp fangs that was ready to stub them into their throat.
