THE DAY OF THE CASE „THE BOX”
When the doorbell rang, Mire was in the bathroom, preparing to wash her face. It was already late at night and she didn’t expect any visit. That’s why, hearing someone knocking on the door eventually, has been something amazing for her. Thus, looking at the clock and seeing that it was 10.50 PM, Mire frowned, hissing through her teeth, „A visitor? At this late hour?” Yet, even if she had liked to ignore that visitor and finally go to sleep, it had been something impossible because that one insisted, knocking so loudly on the door, something that finally made her leave the bathroom and open the door. Seeing Ha Ni in front of her apartment again, dead drunk and looking for a fight, Mire understood that the peaceful night she dreamt about was gone.
Seeing Mire’s sour face, Ha Ni told her in mockery, „Hi, idiot! Did you expect me? If not, bad for you because I’m here!” Then, without waiting for Mire to allow her to enter, Ha Ni pushed her from in front of her when Mire grabbed her by the clothes, trying to stop her from entering. Ha Ni even became aggressive seeing that Mire wasn’t letting her in, something that not only made her struggle with Mire but also shout at her, „I’m not leaving, stupid! So, stop pushing me and let me in, bitch!” After that, pushing Mire so hard that that one hit the door with her head, Ha Ni passed by her.
When the door hit her back, so hard that she heard her ears buzzing for a few moments, Mire felt the blood boiling in her veins. Thus, not being able to think normally anymore, she closed the door by slamming it and approached Ha Ni, whom she grabbed by the hair eventually. She caught up with Ha Ni right in the middle of the living room where there wasn't any furniture, a space that allowed them to fight at will.
Too mad to control themselves, the two women shared punches, and kicks, used their nails to scratch the rival, but also insulted the other one with the worst words that crossed their mind in such moments. Then, when they felt the adrenaline increasing in their chest, they started a real boxing match, something that injured not only their stomach when the other one’s fist hardly hit it, but also injured their knees and palms from so much scratching or in contact with the floor. They even pulled the other one from the hair, so badly that tufts of hair were seen flying through the living room.
And it was weird. Everything: why they were fighting and why the hatred from their heart. More than that, it was weird that Ha Ni, who was barely standing, resulted in being not an easy rival. On the contrary, she seemed only pretending to be drunk and more than eager to kill Mire, a reason why she was there that night. She came there determined to get rid of her rival and finally have Min SinJu, only for her. Thus, if she had succeeded in her plan, she could have set up everything as suicide. Yet, suddenly, she felt dizzy. Even dizzier than before coming there.
„What’s wrong with me?” Ha Ni wondered when she felt sick. „I only drank a cocktail. It can’t be because of this.” Then, suddenly, that she’d been surprised by this too, Ha Ni lost her balance and fell to her knees.
Seeing Ha Ni on her knees, Mire, who was sitting on the floor, only two steps from her rival, frowned. It was too much even for her to see that Ha Ni was looking so bad, sweating, and having symptoms that she wanted to vomit. She even saw Ha Ni crouching at one moment, touching the floor with her forehead while fighting with herself to stand up.
Eventually, understanding that if she had kept sitting would have worked against her in the end, Mire stood up, not losing sight of Ha Ni. She felt a little bit afraid and confused seeing the other one so dizzy, capable of anything at that moment. Thus, aware that it was better for her not to allow her rival to come back to her senses and gain the strength to attack her again, Mire asked, „Why are you here, Ha Ni? Why did you come when I clearly told you to get lost, once and forever, but you never listen?! He’s mine! Mine, and I don’t have the minimum desire to share him with you or give you my place.”
„Is he an object or something?” Ha Ni asked in a slightly mockery tone. „He has the right to choose whoever he wants by his side. Something that he has already done while he spends his nights with me.”
„His nights?! Of course, he did that… he's chosen a prostitute, with whom he does what I don’t allow him to do. Something that a normal girl like me won’t ever do.”
„Is this what he told you? That he needs… another kind of girl not to do with you certain… things? And you believed this? Ha-ha-ha, you are definitely stupid if so. Why? Because a man doesn’t choose a woman just because she has a certain… profession. He chooses her because he looks for what he doesn’t find at home while he’s with the other one. And you, as you are one of many, I’ll take care of you to get lost from his life. Only this way, he’ll be mine because… I’m tired of seeing you hanging around us. I’m sick of you, you make me want to vomit because… you are just a stupid cow that tries to take another woman’s man just because you aren’t able to find one for yourself.”
„What did you say?” Mire yelled, driven completely crazy. Then, unable to think normally anymore, she pounced on Mire, grabbing the other one by the hair. An elbow in her stomach made her crouch eventually. Then… she took a few steps back, trying to chase the pain away by doing this. Something she didn’t manage to do in the end because she finally stumbled over something and fell on the floor. At that moment, when her palms touched the floor, she saw her salvation… a bag with golf sticks… right next to her… Only an arm's distance from her. And, when she saw Ha Ni with her back to her, as though looking for something around her to hurt her rival, Mire made the final decision. Yes, she made it in seconds only: she grabbed a golf stick and hit. Only once she hit, but it had been enough because Ha Ni fell on the floor… unconscious.

THE NIGHT WHEN MIRE HAS BEEN ARRESTED
When she remembered what happened that night, Mire realized that she was still shaking like hell. She was right in the middle of the living room at that moment, with the luggage at her feet, left on the floor. Yes, she had everything ready to go, but… something didn’t let her go in the end.
Mire simply couldn’t leave that apartment. It was everything she had dreamt about since she was a little girl: to have a house only for her and, to have it, she needed so much time and effort for this. Actually, also because of this, she entered SinJu’s bed. She decided that with him she could have what she wanted: to earn more money and buy herself an apartment. Something that she got eventually, along with a lot of suffering and slaps over the years. Why? Because what she considered her happiness and her reality was just a fake dream of an innocent stupid girl. One that pushed her to the extremes eventually, killing someone and she did that understanding that it was the last thing she could do to survive, a decision that forced her to leave everything she fought for all those years behind her, looking for salvation again.
Suddenly, her phone rang, and its ringing made Mire wince. For an unknown reason, she feared that phone call. Nevertheless, even if she didn’t want to answer that phone call, she had to when she saw „HE” on the screen of her mobile phone. That’s why she rushed to answer the call but said nothing. She only listened to what HE said, „Get out of that apartment, Mire! Now!” It was SinJu’s voice the one heard in the receiver. A voice that made her decide to go away. And, grabbing the handle of the suitcase, she ran toward the door.
Out of her apartment, when she saw nobody in the hall, Mire breathed a sigh of relief. Finally, she was moving from that place where every single neighbor hated her. It happened because of Lee Ha Ni, who came to her door every single day in the last few months, making such a fuss each time she was coming there. Because of this, Mire’s neighbors complained so much. They even asked her to move away from that place if she couldn’t be quiet. And they would have managed to chase her away if SinJu hadn’t helped her, but… he couldn’t do anything to help her keep her apartment at that time.
At that moment, not even she could do something to help herself. She could only run and this is what she did: she approached the elevator and pressed the button several times. Yet, seeing that it didn’t come, Mire decided not to wait for it anymore and take the stairs. Thus, grabbing her suitcase, Mire dragged it behind her while running down the stairs. Because of the run, she felt her heart madly beating in her chest, making her feel as if lacking air, unable to continue to run anymore. Something she knew she shouldn’t do: stop and catch up her breath, not if she wanted not to be trapped by those who were coming after her.
However, the anxiety she felt while descending those stairs didn’t last long. Only until she got out, and the fresh air of the night reinvigorated her body. Yet, even if it was a pleasant feeling… the fresh air around and that freedom felt outside, Mire didn’t have time to enjoy it for long. She only left the suitcase on the ground, dragging it after her toward the main road where she intended to find a taxi. If she had gotten there, to the main road, she was safe. Nevertheless, that night the entire Universe seemed not to support her at all because, at first, one of the suitcase’s wheels got stuck between two boards and she’d been unable to take it out of there. Something that made Mire finally shout at it, desperate, „Come on, bastard, I don’t have all night to waste with you.”
Suddenly, she became alert when the noise made by a bike’s engine was heard in the distance. It seemed to Mire that the bike was heading toward her and not just passing by. And she’d been right because, soon after this, she saw the motorcycle driven by DooSan, who stopped not that far from her.
Right after seeing him there, Mire felt that she stopped breathing. That’s why she wanted so badly to shout what was inside her, but she had no force to do this as though her vocal cords hadn't listened to her command. This made her feel anxious again because she recognized the driver as being Han DooSan, and she recognized him only looking at his silhouette because he still had the helmet on while she stared at him. How did she know him? Well, because of Min SinJu, who really hated DooSan. Thus, she could hear SinJu often cursing and blaming DooSan for blowing down his neck. Actually, not only once Mire witnessed one of Min SinJu’s tantrums and fits of anger when SinJu said that DooSan was his worst enemy and that he hated him so much. A hatred that Mire found out that it was mutual because Han DooSan felt the same. And, realizing all these, Mire started to shake again. Moreover, when she remembered that he worked as a prosecutor, the single reason why he could follow her to her apartment… probably because he knew the truth related to Lee Ha Ni’s death.
Eventually, when she heard DooSan saying, „Did someone ask for a taxi?” Mire jerked from her place, leaving the suitcase behind her. She didn’t even look back to see if DooSan followed her. She was sure he’d follow her because she heard him hissing through his teeth behind her, „Damn, I’m too old for running! Especially at night!” After that, she heard his footsteps approaching her. He was closer and closer with each step while she felt powerless with each breath she was taking in. Even so, she was determined to run away from him and escape at any cost. A dream that remained only a dream because, at the next crossroad, when she turned right, she measured noses with Oh Yoon Suk.
Seeing him right in front of her, Mire froze. She tried to turn back, but DooSan blocked the pass already. Thus, spying on each other while accelerating breathing after that run, the three enemies took a short time to think and make the final decision. A decision that Yoon Suk took in the end when he spotted DooSan’s sign not to let Mire think more about what to do. Thus, struggling with Mire to cuff her, Yoon Suk read her the Miranda Amendment, something Mire had heard less than a quarter, being too focused on struggling, thinking that she’d release herself this way.
In the end, she had no other choice than to follow Yoon Suk to the patrol. And, while going toward the police car, she looked with terror at a taxi that passed by… her freedom that simply walked away, with her last hope for happiness inside of it. Thus, understanding this, Mire’s eyes filled with tears, aware that everything ended for her that day… her freedom and her happiness, and all this because she’d been stubborn, clinging to a man that had never been only hers.

PRESENT. INSIDE OF THE PROSECUTION BUILDING. INTERROGATORY ROOM.
Face to face with Mire, who kept silent since she’d been brought to the Prosecution, DooSan and SolHi looked at her, waiting for a reaction. Yet, for 2 hours since they started the interrogation, Mire said no word. She didn’t even blink when they asked her about the murder. Thus, as they couldn’t force her to talk, DooSan told SolHi in the end, „Call her lawyer, as she asked for! A public defender by the way, because… to be damn if someone else accepts her case.”
He didn’t finish his thought well when he heard his ears buzzing because of Mire, who yelled, „A public defender? Yeah, son of a bitch, who the hell do you think you are to call a public defender for me? Just call my lawyer, motherfucker! My… lawyer!”
SolHi ironically smiled. „Which one? A lawyer paid by Min SinJu?”
„It’s not your fucking business, bitch! And I don’t talk without my lawyer because I know my rights!”
„Really?!” Said SolHi in a slightly mockery tone. „You should have thought about this before mistaking someone’s head for a golf ball. Why? Simply because you wouldn’t have been about to spend your life in jail as you are about to do now. Why? Because your „lover” won’t do anything to save your ass. And do you know why? Because it’s so fucking convenient for him. Why? Because he’ll be free while you’ll live your life in jail because we have evidence of your guilt, but not of his. So, the criminals with the criminals and the „normal” people with the normal ones. And, by the way, he’s part of the last group, thanks to you.” After saying this, SolHi stood up and headed toward the door. She went alone, not followed by DooSan, who kept staring at Mire, trying to see if she’d react after SolHi’s words. Yet, seeing that Mire continued to look at him with empty eyes, at all eager to talk, DooSan also left the interrogatory room.
Left all alone, Mire deeply breathed in, trying to calm down. It didn’t help her eventually, but made her feel an even more painful pressure on her chest. Then… the anxiety returned. She was definitely confused because… she didn’t know what was going on outside there. She called SinJu, but he didn’t answer the phone. Then, when she asked the officer to call him for the second time, that number wasn’t available anymore. Something weird, which made her hiss through her teeth eventually. „What the hell happens there?” After that, feeling unable to control her emotions anymore, Mire scratched her face to the blood, having a temper tantrum, so suddenly. Yet, it was all that she could do at that moment because… for the rest… only the darkness that was about to swallow her kept grinning at her, telling her to be submissive or she wouldn’t ever escape from there.
***
„Do you think she’ll talk soon?” Yoon Suk asked the others while all of them were in the Monitoring Room, looking at Mire’s reaction.
„I doubt,” said Yu. „As we all know Min SinJu, who’s capable of everything, she won’t say a word. Why? Because she definitely knows what class of devil he is. That’s why she’ll keep her mouth shut even if she goes to jail in his place.”
„And you’re right. We all see what he is capable of. Last night when he’d been about to get rid of SolHi. Not in a very pleasant way, actually.” After saying this, Kan left the Monitoring Room, followed by Yu and Yoon Suk.
Left alone in the Monitoring Room, DooSan and SolHi kept looking at Mire through the window. They both had their arms folded on their chests, staring only in front and not at the other one. Yet, even if they were carefully looking at each of Mire’s movements, it seemed more as though they thought about something very different from what the other one was thinking. And it was right because DooSan was thinking about what else could he do to force Mire to talk while SolHi thought about her previous experience, something that made her say eventually:
Love what you're reading? Discover and support the author on the platform they originally published on.
„I’m not envious of her right now. She definitely reached hell by being here.”
DooSan looked at her, confused at first. Then, realizing what she was talking about, he smiled and said in a slightly mockery tone, „Are you talking about your past experience?”
„Absolutely,” responded SolHi right away, still not looking at him. „Because I know what it feels to be there, Prosecutor Han while you’ve never been there. That’s why you can’t judge one that passed through hell. More than that, you never experienced how it feels the anxiety on your skin, and neither did you see the unknown grinning at you while, all around you, are only those who you never saw. It’s something I want not even my worst enemy to experience because… here's Hell and not the one that waits for us after death.” After saying this, SolHi simply walked away, watched from behind by DooSan, who was waiting for her to say something more or do something in particular. Instead of this, he saw the door closed behind her, with a slight slam.
Seeing the door closed eventually, DooSan smiled. For an unknown reason, he was happy, hearing what SolHi told about what she felt while she’d been dragged to the Court or to the Interrogatory Room. Yet, it didn’t last long: his happiness. So soon after this, he felt his heart beating in a weird way, something that made him feel weak inside. Thus, feeling unable to stand anymore, he dragged a chair next to him and sat down. He still looked in front, at Mire, on whose face he spotted tears in the end.
Then, calm, because those tears seemed to have been a kind of sedative for him, DooSan grinned while saying, „Nobody ever told you to get involved with Min SinJu. Yet, you did that. It was your choice to trust that Devil that has no respect for a woman and never feels guilty for anything. More than that, I must accept that he’s smart if he's been able to send a woman to jail for what he did.” These last words made DooSan gnash his teeth, feeling the anger madly flowing through his veins, something that made him also squeeze his fists eventually. He was furious because he couldn’t send Min SinJu to jail, the one he was sure that had had something to do with the victim’s death. Nevertheless, even if he knew this, DooSan had no evidence and couldn’t prove that that one was guilty. Only if Mire confessed, but she preferred to keep silent, something that was driving DooSan crazy, slowly-slowly.
***
When he finally left the Monitoring Room, DooSan spotted his team gathered in the middle of the hall, not that far from the door. They seemed to be talking about something important. Yet, DooSan hesitated to get closer to them. Something he did eventually when he heard SolHi saying, „Sombe, did Min SinJu say something about Lee Ha Ni when he’d been here with his lawyer?”
„No, he said nothing about Lee Ha Ni, but about Park Mire, yes. He said that he met her at her apartment around 10 PM, they had some… fun and, after that, he left. Alone, according to his words.”
„He’s fast, the motherfucker!” Said DooSan in mockery, thinking that he said this for himself only. Yet, spotting the others’glance focused on him, DooSan frowned, asking through his teeth. „What? I said only the truth.”
SolHi, who found in his words the perfect chance to have a little bit of fun, said, „Prosecutor Han, you know, after such words I’m really interested in finding out how you found out that Min SinJu is fast. Or, don’t tell me: did you try to…?”
„Don’t even dare to say that he and I are lovers, Ian SolHi, or I swear that I crack your head,” DooSan threatened her, hissing the words through his teeth. Yet, even though he thought that after such a threat SolHi would walk away or apologize, he’d been even more amazed when he spotted her glance focused on him. She even smiled, ironically and provocatively while looking into his eyes, something that was definitely driving him crazy: that a girl like her could make fun of him. Yet, he had no other chance than swallowing his pride because he’d been the only one to blame for that joke: he shouldn’t have said those words about Min SinJu. Yet, too furious thinking about his enemy, he didn’t think about the consequences of such words.
Unlike him, SolHi thought about what those words could bring for her: victory. She was happy, seeing the sparkle of anger in DooSan’s eyes, who was more than ready to break someone to pieces. Something that made her want so badly to keep teasing him. Yet, aware that this could have brought more problems for the entire team, she decided to let the mockery for later and work on the important: the case and finding the real guilty for the victim’s death. For this, she took Kan’s phone eventually and turned on the video they looked at while DooSan was in the Monitoring Room: a video of Min SinJu and Park Mire kissing at first, then having some… fun later, and… how they started to do something more. A video she showed to DooSan later, to whom she said in a slight mockery tone, „I hope that after seeing this video, you’ll lose your interest in this man, prosecutor Han. Why? Because Mister Min has other… interests than you, it seems to me.” A remark that made DooSan want to yell at her, something he didn’t do eventually, but kept his mouth shut when SolHi touched her lips with her finger, whispering in a demanding tone eventually, „Now that you saw what your lover is capable of, what about following me, partner, huh?! We have more important things to do than… simply feeling jealous of someone.” After that, spotting DooSan’s killing glance, she shrugged and turned her back to him, leaving first.
Deeply breathing in, to calm down, DooSan stared behind her. He would have liked to catch up with her and tell her some truths in her face. Something he left for later when he spotted the others’glances focused on him. More than those glances, DooSan spotted the questions in them, questions he wasn’t that eager to answer. That’s why he told them, muttering the words, „If any of you says anything else about this, I swear I’ll kill him!” After that, returning the phone to Kan, he followed SolHi.
Behind him, the others burst into laughter. Yet, only Yu dared to whisper in the end while all of them were heading toward their office, „It’ll be hot this summer for sure!”
***
Walking into the club, DooSan and SolHi met the bodyguards’glances of hatred right away. Something that amazed DooSan a lot. Yet, when he remembered the night SolHi and Yu entered the club, he understood why the bodyguards were so furious. Even so, he said nothing but kept looking around, amazed to see so many clients there even if it wasn’t night yet.
What amazed him even more was to spot the motorcyclits’killing glance while looking at SolHi, who „dared” to come there after that night. More than that, at some moment, DooSan noticed that two of the motorcyclists wanted to get closer to them, but who’d been forced to stay quiet when they saw SinJu’s gorillas touching their guns. A movement that made DooSan smile and whispered eventually, „As far as I see, you’re a legend here.”
Frowning because she definitely didn’t know what he was talking about, SolHi looked around, also spotting the movement from around them, as though they were the assassins, who came there to kill someone. Yet, instead of feeling nervous as DooSan thought she would feel, he spotted her smiling, something that amazed him a lot as the words she said after this, „Let’s just say I love to be remembered. Just as you, partner, because… your lover is right over there.” Then, paying no attention to DooSan, who showed her his fangs for that remark, SolHi headed toward Min SinJu.
Eventually, when her words resounded in his ears again, DooSan shook his head, mumbling to himself, „Did she brag or confess by saying what she said?” Yet, he had to leave that thought for later, spotting SolHi making room among SinJu’s friends, to sit on a free chair eventually, right in front of SinJu. A movement that made DooSan slap his forehead, whispering, „It’ll end badly, I feel this already.” After that, he approached the group, determined not to lose anything from what would happen next.
Unlike DooSan, who seemed nervous eventually, SolHi looked pretty calm. She, after sitting on that chair, stared into SinJu’s eyes, at all bothered to see him squinting at her, at all happy to see her there. She even decided to tease him a little by saying, „Well friend, even if you don’t seem pretty happy to see me here, here I am. A visit that I think we’ll leave a bitter taste on the top of your tongue, I’m sure.”
„Nice to see you again too, Detective Ian!” SinJu murmured eventually, understanding that he wouldn’t get rid of her so easily. That’s why he decided to at least not give her the opportunity to feel comfortable there.
„If you say so?!” Said SolHi, grinning. „That it’s pleasant to see me. Something that I’m sure that’s not as you say, but… I must accept that it's pleasant to see your sour face again, watching me with the eyes of a puppy that begs to be left alone.”
To SolHi’s surprise, SinJu smiled. Then, glancing at DooSan, SinJu said in mockery, „The only puppy here is you, Detective! At least this seems to me.”
„Puppy, I? Why so? As far as I remember, you called me Hunting Dog the last time I’d been here. Or… have you forgotten this already?”
„Of course, he has forgotten this,” said DooSan, interfering in their talk. „Our friend here has the brain of a chicken for… certain things.” A remark that made SinJu’s friends smile.
Understanding that that one would be a long conversation that could humiliate him in front of his friends, SinJu made them a sign to leave him alone with SolHi and DooSan. An order his friends listened to right away. Then, when they’ve been left alone, even if his eyes were still sparkling because of anger, he looked at DooSan, to whom he said, „Take a seat, prosecutor Han! Or… are you standing in the hope that you’ll be able to accuse me of being inhospitable in my own club?”
Grinning, while he climbed the few stairs to SinJu’s table, DooSan said, „Ei, Mister Min, I’m not that mercantile. I can make the difference between being hospitable with a friend and with an enemy.”
„Does it mean you consider me your enemy?”
„At least I don’t consider you my friend. And I’m sure my partner also considers you this way, right, partner?”
„Absolutely because if you aren’t mercantile, prosecutor Han, I am. Why? Because I can’t be friends with someone who threatened me with death. Ups, sorry, to sue me, I wanted to say.”
„What I said, Detective Ian, is that you should come here only with a judicial order if you have questions to ask me, not that I sue you.”
„Really? Well, it’s not exactly what I remember, but… let it be this way. Related to the judicial order, well… I don’t think I need it while I’m here for another cocktail only. A special one, like the one I drank last night.” Saying this, SolHi threw a small package with white dust in it right in front of SinJu, managing to amaze even DooSan this way, who stared at her with pumped eyes. SolHi, however, at all bothered to see the two men staring at her, grinned.
Seeing her at all bothered and scared, DooSan looked around to check if there wasn’t anyone taking photos or videos. After that, he sat by her side, hissing into her ear, „Did you lose your mind?”
„No, prosecutor Han, I’m even more normal than generally. I just… want to see if I’m treated here as well as the last time when I was here, officially. Now, as I’m unofficial here, I think the cocktail will be even tastier than the last time, right, Mister Min?” She asked, pushing the package with the white dust toward SinJu, to whom she said, „Just do me this favor, Mister Min: prepare me another cocktail like the one I tasted then. I simply loved it and I’d like to drink it again.”
„I don’t really understand what you are talking about,” SinJu played the fool, understanding the hint. He was so calm that this amazed SolHi, who stared at him for a while, how SinJu sipped from his drink.
Then, so suddenly that even DooSan winced, SolHi burst into laughter. „Really, Mister Min, are you playing the fools right now?” She asked him in mockery. „If so, I’m really sorry that I wasted my time coming here because… it’s not exactly what I expected from the owner of such an important club. So, don’t make me waste more time than I wasted already because I’m sure you know what I’m talking about because… I have evidence about this, Min SinJu, that you drugged me that night.” After that, pushing a sheet of paper toward him, not losing sight of him, SolHi hissed through her teeth, „It’s written here, black on white, that I’ve been „happy” that night, „happiness” which I felt after being here where I drank something. A cocktail, prepared by you, by the way.”
„Are you sure, Detective? That the only cocktail you drank that night is the one prepared by me? One that I don’t really remember to have offered to you, honestly. Thus, as I don’t remember this, you can’t accuse me of drugging you because… I’m not really into this. So, if you „took” something for courage that night, It hadn’t definitely been here.”
Leaning over the back of the chair, SolHi deeply breathed in. After that, understanding that SinJu said what he said to intimidate her, she decided to do the same. For this, she crossed her legs, supported her elbows on the knees, and, looking straight into SinJu’s eyes, looking „calm” even if she wanted to break him into pieces, she told him, „I must accept that I’m impressed of your cold blood, Mister Min. Actually, why am I even surprised? You didn’t even blink while serving me a „special” drink. Why will you blink or accept this when the prosecutor in charge is right next to me? Well, if I accept this, you must accept that I’m a damn crazy dog too. So, what about calling the Anti-narcotics crew here, huh?! I’m sure they’d love to search your club for „happiness.” Should we do that, prosecutor Han or not?”
„Of course, we should do that because… I’m more than sure that our boys will simply love tasting such „drinks.” What do you think, Min SinJu: am I right?”
„As I said: you’re trying to punish not the guilty person. So, if you have nothing else to say, what about you two getting lost off here, huh?!”
„Not that fast, Mister Min,” SolHi hissed through her teeth. „Even if I can’t prove that I’ve been drugged here that night, we still can prove that you killed Lee Ha Ni.”
This made SinJu burst into laughter. Yet, it wasn’t his natural laughter. He was just playing, forced to do that while two pitbull were standing right in front of him, more than ready to stub their fangs into his jugular if they’d been unable to send him to jail. Then, understanding that he overreacted, he suddenly calmed down and said, „That I killed Ha Ni? And, how do you want to prove this? Asking Tooth Fairy for help?”
„Why play such a foolish game when we simply can ask a witness?” Said DooSan, managing to surprise even SolHi by saying this. „A witness that saw you leaving the box next to Ha Ni’s door that night.”
Hearing DooSan talking like that, SinJu thought at first that he was bluffing. Yet, spotting SolHi’s hands shaking, even if barely noticed, he understood that they had something against him. What exactly they could have against him, SinJu wasn’t sure because… he didn’t remember someone seeing him doing this. Or… wait, there was someone there. The neighbor from the right. He remembered that he saw that door half-open that night, a door that had been closed right away. And, when he remembered this, SinJu yelled in his again, „Again that frog!” After that, while sipping from his drink and forcing a smile, he wrote a simple message to someone. „Kill her!” He wrote that message, widely smiling in the end.
***
Driving in total silence, DooSan looked through the front shield at the crowd of cars seen in front of them. Yet, even if he said no word, he wasn’t calm. He felt how the storm from inside him was squirming him and making him nervous because… once again SinJu managed to slip from his hands.
Then, suddenly, when SolHi yelled, „He’s a fucking chameleon!” DooSan looked to his right, confused. He saw her nervously moving her leg while crumpling the sheet with the blood analysis results in her hand. „I can’t believe we have nothing against him. Even if I’m sure he drugged me that night.”
„Don’t rush! He’ll fall soon! He must do it!”
„Yeah, when?! When another victim is sent in a gift box with a red bow on it?”
„Why are you yelling at me now? I’m not to blame that we have nothing against him. We could have forced him to talk, but this wouldn’t have helped her in anything because such a confession can’t be used in a trial.”
„And now it’s my fault that you can’t force him to talk? That’s why you’re arguing with me?”
„You are the one who started this. And, if talking about this, what the hell were you thinking about when you accepted that cocktail? If it was stronger, you would be dead by now.”
„Wasn’t this what you wanted actually? To see me dead? If this had happened, he would have done you a favor.”
„Of course not! Why? Because he would have only ruined my plans. I want you in jail, not dead. We simply think differently.”
„For me, it’s the same. Getting rid of me in one way or another, it’s the best for you, right?!”
„You deserved it, ok?!”
„Just like you. So, don’t complain about being an idiot.”
„Now I’m an idiot? Idiot and not turkey or Mopsic? What a big jump from one creature to another. You’re definitely good at insulting people. A genius.”
„At least I’m not as idiot as you to say that idiots are creatures.” Saying this, SolHi stared at him with the eyes of a beast, ready to break him into pieces. Actually, she even felt a bad desire to punch him. Yet, she was aware that if she had done this, she could have provoked an accident. That’s why she only yelled in the receiver when her phone rang, „Tell me, Yoon Suk!”
DooSan had heard what Yoon Suk said too because the young detective simply yelled while saying, „They have Yun Shi Yon! We’re after them! Move toward the main bridge over River Han! Now!”
Hanging up the phone, SolHi cursed. After that, opening the window, she grabbed the flashing lights from the glove compartment, which she put on the car, yelling at DooSan eventually to press the gas pedal to the brim because there wasn’t time to waste in vain.

SolHi was damn scared… she was running… She ran as fast as she could toward the black van stopped at the entrance to the bridge. There she saw two masked men taking Shi Yon out of the van and heading in a run toward the railing of the bridge.
Her breath stopped for a few seconds when she finally heard DooSan yelling at the police officers that were rushing toward the bridge, „They’ll throw her into the water! Do something! Now! Now! Shoot them, now!”
Yet… everything ended too fast… the moment Shi Yon had been thrown into the water eventually. Then… a deafening bump was heard all around when one of the police officers shot the two criminals to make them stop. SolHi, however, didn’t see any of them. Stopped a few meters from the bridge, where she stopped when she saw Shi Yon thrown over the railing, she remembered only the fact that the poor woman was unconscious, with her legs and hands tied with blue adhesive tape. The same adhesive tape SolHi saw on the victim’s mouth. Thus, thinking about nothing at that moment, before anyone present there could realize what she was doing, she climbed on the railing and jumped into the water, followed by Yoon Suk, who also jumped behind her.
