The entrance to the former nightclub „The Black Sun” apparently seemed abandoned. It was because the club’s front door was opening into a dark narrow street. Because of this and the blind street lamp, it was almost impossible to see something around.
It was actually so dark that if two men had stuck their fingers into their own eyes, they would have sworn later that the other one did that to them. Even so, it was seen, at both ends of the street, two other blind street lamps. Their weak light outlined eventually the silhouettes of two cats passing by there, waving their tails and making everybody shudder because their shadows seemed the one of the devil itself.
That comparison wasn’t at all an exaggeration because, looking in front, DooSan saw a shadow. Nothing and nobody appeared after this, although he had also seen the two cats before that. Because of that, he spat to the side eventually, showing his fear this way, although he wasn’t there alone. Even so, even if he knew that he had his back secured, he still shook the moment a slight movement, made by one of the masked agents that accompanied him there, was heard. Only then, did DooSan understand that the shadow he had seen not long ago was probably of another agent. Because of this, DooSan reproachfully shook his head, scolding himself this way, and calling himself an idiot for being such a chicken when he had a team of about 50 people with him at that moment.
Eventually, DooSan closed his eyes when the light of an electronic wristwatch was seen to his left. Even so, before closing his eyes, he saw that it was 2.3 already. „More than 3h of waiting,” DooSan told himself. After that, he looked at the masked agent, who was a few meters in front of him and was spying on the entrance with a front mirror, which he stole from one of the motorcycles parked there. The mirror wasn’t big, but it still allowed the agent to see the entrance clearly, even with the weak light seen around.
All the time they had spied on the entrance, the door of the club remained closed. Not even a sound was heard behind it. Not until a deaf sound, of a car engine, wasn’t heard in the distance. Soon after this, a black sedan stopped in front of the club, and, after two minutes of waiting, the door that had been closed by then opened. Yet, while they waited for the door to be open, the driver turned the engine off, although the car had black windows and nothing was seen inside. Even so, he probably did that, afraid to make others pay attention to them.
The door opened with a bang eventually, something DooSan didn’t expect to hear. Yet, it was clearly heard when that door was opened as though someone picked a very old latch. This meant only one thing: someone had things to hide in that club and, to make sure they wouldn’t be caught, they locked that door with such a latch.
Although he understood this, DooSan decided that it wasn’t time to intervene. They only stood and watched the entrance. Thus, they eventually saw two men about thirty, very tall and chubby, approaching the sedan. This made DooSan attentive. What caught his eye, in particular, was the fact that both men were bald and had the tattoo of a scorpion on the back of their heads.
Seeing the tattoo, DooSan looked to his right where he knew SolHi was. Yet, because of the darkness, he didn’t see her eyes. Even so, he knew she was there because he could hear her hissing breath as it was heard each time she was resentful or furious about something.
Understanding that saying something to her could drive her crazy and blow the operation up, DooSan decided that it was wiser for all of them if he kept his mouth shut. Yet, he didn’t stay next to her for longer. Soon after this, he tapped the masked agent’s shoulder, who was in front of him, and, after the agent changed places with him, DooSan got next to the agent with the mirror.
The agent, feeling DooSan next to him, made a sign for DooSan to say nothing. After that, he pointed toward the mirror. Looking at it, DooSan saw the two men worshiping in front of someone who didn’t even bother to step out of the vehicle. Even so, it was clear that he was in the back right seat where the two individuals were seen in front of the door. Then, the agent and DooSan saw those two men carefully listening to something that looked like instructions, given by a voice that barely whispered the words. Eventually, they also received a big yellow envelope, given to them by the „boss.” Soon after this, the driver stepped on the gas pedal and the black sedan left the place at a not-that-high speed.
Stranger than this, DooSan found the fact that the two individuals, who seemed to be bodyguards because wore black suits, and white shirts, and the physical reminded him about a bodyguard, were just staying and watching the content from inside the envelope, which seemed to be photos. After this, afraid to lose them when he saw them turning their back to them, DooSan gave the order, „Let’s go! Now, go, go!” This made the agents move and get in front of the club just in time, catching up with the two bodyguards before entering the place.
When the agents were two steps from them, the two men suddenly turned and intended to shoot. Because of this, a small fight between them and the agents started. Eventually, the agents, who were better trained than the bodyguards were, put them down and cuffed them. And, to make those two keep silent, the agents had been also forced to threaten them with the gun. After that, lifting them off the ground, they pushed the two men toward the black van that was parked down the street.
Once the entrance was secured, DooSan looked at the photos that were scattered on the ground, photos the two bodyguards dropped when they fought with the agents. In those photos, DooSan could recognize the photo of Kim Ha Na, who wore only a few clothes on her and looked like a prostitute. From the photos, it was also seen that she looked drunk or drugged. Seeing this, DooSan frowned and demanded the agents, „Let’s enter!” Then he looked at SolHi and made her a sign to pick the photos off the ground.
SolHi obeyed right away, picking the photos off the ground and putting them inside the envelope eventually. After that, she gave the envelope to Detective So and told her to give that envelope only to Prosecutor Iun, who was waiting with another team down the street. After that, SolHi followed DooSan and the rest. Behind her entered detective Gi, Mo, and other detectives who worked for Kanam police station, who waited for her to make sure she was fine.
***
At a slow step, somehow on the sly, DooSan’s group advanced on a poorly lit corridor. They walked like this to make sure the operation wouldn’t fail in case someone had seen them there. Yes, they were afraid of being discovered there, although they left a few agents outside to watch their backs. At the same time, they tried to be careful and not be caught in an ambush inside the club. After all, even if they didn’t see surveillance cameras there, they couldn’t be sure that there weren’t some because, in the criminal world, nothing could be taken as a sure thing.
Entering the old club, DooSan cooked his nose. He did that when he realized that for a club that seemed to be well guarded, there was dust and spider webs all over. It even seemed that nobody had cleaned that place for years because, besides the dust and spider webs, there were a lot of old things thrown everywhere, to make sure nobody would suspect that inside that club things were different than it was seen at first glance. A clever movement in DooSan’s opinion, but not the smartest because it was clear that there was a hideout of a gang. There wasn’t a hidden place of a random gang but of one with important clients, judging by the red carpet on which the agents and DooSan were stepping at that moment. On that carpet, no dust or stain was seen, something that caught their eye right away when they entered that place. „The perfect mask!” As DooSan suddenly mumbled, taking a small lantern out of his pocket, intending to check the place.
Understanding what he tried to do, SolHi covered the eye of the lantern with her palm. After that, she hissed into his ear, „Are you trying to kill us all? If not, turn off this damn lantern! You can make a critical analysis of the place after this.” After that, she turned her back on him. Even so, DooSan was sure that she did that to make sure she wouldn’t pounce on him and break him into pieces because he heard her slowly puffing through her nostrils.
This well-known sound made DooSan smile. He smiled in his head only because he didn’t want to let the other agents know that they had a closer relationship, other than the one that could exist between a boss and his team member. Then, he decided that it was a wise thought to listen to her and turned the lantern off. Eventually, SolHi had been working as a detective for three years and knew better how to act in such cases. More than that, he felt with his heart that he had to trust her.
Eventually, seeing SolHi venturing in front of him, DooSan frowned. He even grabbed her by the coat and pulled her back, hiding her behind him in the end. Thus, he tried to give her the feeling she was at the shelter. Something SolHi didn’t appreciate because she squinted at him eventually. She did that because maybe he was the Prosecutor in that case, but she knew better how to protect herself in such dangerous cases.
Thinking about this, SolHi understood that if they had been there alone, she would have told him something sweet for sure. Yet, there were too many eyes and ears ready to listen and see just to have their mouths what to gossip about. That’s why, once they were in the middle of an important operation, she decided not to endanger any of them and just kept her mouth shut.
After a few more meters taken in front, they met a big iron door, one locked from the inside. They saw that door because of the infrared light of the masked agents. Because of this, the commander suddenly said into the headphones, „Dead end.” After that, the same commander looked at DooSan, asking him in a whisper, „What to do? Should we ask for the „bull?”
„No, it’s risky,” DooSan responded also in a whisper. He was right in denying the idea of the „bull,” which was a huge metallic bar, used to kick down such obstacles as the one they met there. Yet, thinking about this for a few more moments, he understood that he had no other choice than to probably accept the commander’s idea.
Eventually, he stood quiet when he saw Gi passing by him. Once next to DooSan, Gi stopped and slowly tapped on his shoulder to make the Prosecutor move away. After that, he whispered, „I have a better idea than the „bull.” Just… trust me!”
DooSan didn’t have any reason not to believe in Gi because, besides he was about 1.87, the detective also looked like a barrel, although he wasn’t fat. He only loved to eat well and go to the gym often. Because of this, Gi often bragged about his „sweet boys” as he used to call his muscles. Actually, he was counting on the same „boys” at that moment too because, once in front of the metallic door, he knocked three times.
Nobody answered even after about two minutes had passed since Gi had knocked. Because of this, Gi knocked once again. Seeing that he again received no answer, he was enraged. And, furious, he insistently knocked on the door, letting those from behind it understand that they had pissed him off.
Seeing the detective’s arrogance, the agents smiled. They even pulled a little back, understanding that the detective would make a scene. Thinking so wasn’t a bad idea because, soon after this, Gi stood right in front of the door, with his hands on his hips, and swearing „sweet words” about the idiots that didn’t want to open that door.
Not even mumbling and swearing as though arguing with the devil, could Gi make the enemy react. This outraged him and made him punch the door. Only then, did the small window with bars, which was seen on the door, open, and a tousled head, with two black eyes stuck on both sides of an eagle nose, appeared behind the bars. He even hissed through his teeth when he saw Gi, „What happened to you, dude? Why do you punch the door?”
The tousled head didn’t have time to wait for the answer because, right after he saw him, Gi put his hand through the bars. And, grabbing the big nose, the detective pulled it toward him so hard that his rival hit the door with the head, making the empty place resound weird… like an empty head. After that, furious, Gi hissed through his teeth, „Wrong question, idiot! It’s not: why you hit, dude, but may I help you, sir? If not, I’ll blow your brains by turning this empty head into a nutcracker. Now, open the fucking door, and don’t make me wait for longer here! I hate staying here where it is cold and, if I get a cold, I swear I will kill you because I’m worse than a fighting dog when I’m ill. And… What are you waiting for, dude? Open the fucking door, I said!”
The eagle nose, feeling Gi’s fingers squeezing around the nose and that it hurt like hell, had no other choice than to open the door. Otherwise, he would have remained without his nose for sure. Yet, opening that door, he was probably cursing his days because what he did was known as betrayal in the criminal world. Actually, he was there for this: to watch the door in case a „lost crow” would have appeared there. Even so, he failed with the „crow” named Gi. That’s why, still grabbed by his nose, Big Nose looked around as much as he could, trying to ask for help from the other bodyguards, who were generally helping him in such cases. Yet, the guards, who were generally taking the „crows” out of there, to beat them to death once they were in the street, weren’t seen anywhere.
Gi, understanding what Big Nose was looking for, made a sign to the masked agents, who cuffed him right away and took him out of the place. They did it so quickly, afraid that the Eagle Nose would start peeping, trying to give the signal to the others. Thus, taking him out of there, they thought that the surprises were over that night. Yeah, right: once they entered the secret room, they widely opened their eyes because not what they were seeing at that moment was what they expected to find there. That place was a real paradise of gambling, pole dancers, who weren’t wearing much at all, drug addicts, and lovers of free wrestling, for what the former night club „The Black Sun” was well-known in the past: for organizing illegal fights. Something they continued to organize even after the authorities closed that place. At that time, what DooSan and the others found there, was worse than when the club was legally operating. Actually, it was something difficult to watch, especially in the boxing ring where two giants were punching and kicking each other, although both of them were badly bleeding and were barely standing.
Seeing all this, Yoon Suk asked in a shaking voice, „What the hell is this?”
„The Glory of Old Times,” DooSan jokingly replied. After that, he made a sign to the other masked agents to enter. Then, he looked at Yoon Suk and SolHi, who were on both sides of him, and told them, „Let’s go! I’m in the mood for gambling today!” And, smiling, he headed toward the first card table. The players, who were too focused on their game, didn’t even realize that the police were there. More than that, when one of them, who bet on Black 13, won, all of them started to yell like crazy people, clapping, and whistling, congratulating him.
Nevertheless, the moment the one who won received two cuffs as a reward instead of money, all of them looked at the agents with wide-open mouths. Not the same as the one cuffed did: he started to yell like a desperate soul, „Let me go! I did nothing!” Instead of being released, he’d been taken out of the place as though he was a child about to be punished for being a spoiled and picky creature.
Arresting the gamblers, a really big fuss broke out that the poor agents’ears suddenly started to buzz. Even so, none of them stopped threatening the gamblers with their weapons, demanding them not to move because the police were there! They even asked them to lie on their stomach, but it didn’t help them too much because the majority of the clients, feeling the danger close, started to run up and down like rats, trying to run away.
Yet, although it was well seen that the agents and the detectives did their job well, something started to bother SolHi. Not even she knew why she felt that. Even so, she kept looking around, trying to understand what bothered her about that place. Thus, she saw one of the waiters writing a text message. That one, seeing her, ran toward the furthest of the corners of the room. Seeing him running, SolHi yelled at Yoon Suk, „Follow me! The cat is running away!” She’d been the first one to follow the waiter, in the end.
The waiter wasn’t also stupid. Right away he saw SolHi running after him, he changed course. While running, not to be caught, he threw everything he could in front of SolHi to block her away: a gambling table, two chairs, and even a few boxes he met in his way. Even so, he couldn’t avoid being followed by SolHi and Yoon Suk, although it was hard for them to keep up with the waiter because of the crowded place and the scared clients who were trying to run away from there.
Seeing SolHi and Yoon Suk running after the waiter, DooSan told Gi, „A secret door! Take two of your men and follow them! No rat should escape this place!”
„Got it!” Gi responded from the middle of the club. After that, followed by the detectives Mo and So, who understood the message right away, ran after SolHi and Yoon Suk, who had passed through a kind of door seen in the wall.
***
The place where Gi and his two colleagues eventually got wasn’t a usual room or a corridor like the one they crossed to get there. It was a kind of hall carved in clay, pretty gross, with lamps that were weakly illuminating and hanging directly from the ceiling. Then, on both sides of that hall, booths made from „blind” glass were seen. Even so, curtains were covered on those glass walls to make sure the clients who chose those private rooms had more privacy. And there weren’t only two or three booths, but around twenty, placed along that long hall.
„Damned!” Gi thought, carefully looking around. „This place is perfect for evil things. Especially, the closet as a door - damn genius.” Seeing his younger colleagues staring at him, Gi made them sign to follow him. After that, they headed in front where they heard a thud that made them attentive. Then, with the guns ready for shooting, Gi jokingly said, „Just in case!”
Advancing on that corridor, Gi found it impossible to understand where Yoon Suk and SolHi disappeared. This thought started to spin even faster in his head when they got to a crossroads where the corridor split into five other halls. This made the detective cook his nose because that place really gave him chills. It was too quiet, winding, and secret.
Eventually, hearing a gunshot from the right, Mo yelled, „There!” The three of them ran as fast as they could, along that corridor that was about 50 meters long, dug right in the soil. Because of this, it really looked gross, a hint that those who decided to build that „secret basis” had rushed a little to finish it. Only the expensive carpet of a red color onto which the detectives were stepping on gave a little bit of color to that place.
At the end of that corridor, they had another surprise: they saw in amazement two more halls leading in two different directions. This made Gi hiss through his teeth, „Damn labyrinth of the Minotaur!”
Detective So burst into laughter. „Don’t say his name, sombe. You can meet him here.”
Gi sneered. „I’d rather prefer to measure noses with the Minotaur than to kiss a bullet shot God knows from where. So, before finding out where the gunshot was heard from, check every booth! Even if you find the Minister there, I don’t care: pick him up!”
„Got it, boss,” the two detectives said at the same time. Then, they started to open each door, checking if there was someone inside.
They eventually found nobody in the private rooms. Only the last two booths from the end of the corridor remained unchecked. This happened at Gi’s command because something seemed strange to him about them. It was because of the moaning heard from inside of the booth from the right. Because of this, at a slow step, he approached the door and touched the doorknob. He opened the door eventually only after his colleagues were in firing position.
Entering the booth, Gi found it a little hard for him and hesitated. Only after he found enough courage, he finished opening the door completely. It’s when they froze for a few moments seeing SolHi knelt by Ha Na, who was lying on the floor, convulsing while SolHi was trying hard to impede her from swallowing her tongue.
Feeling someone behind her, SolHi grabbed the gun and turned, ready to shoot. Seeing her colleagues there, only staring at her but doing nothing, SolHi yelled at them, „Don’t just stay and watch! Do something! Help me! And you, Detective Gi, follow Yoon Suk! He headed north, following the waiter through the booth in front of this one! It seems that’s a straight path outside.”
Her words made Gi rage like the lion in the cage. „Damn you all! You are always around us! Like rats!” After that, he entered the booth in front where he found another door, blocked with a mobile closet, which eventually led toward some stairs that led outside. Stairs Gi climbed right away, as fast as he could, when he heard fires from the street.
***
„Put the gun down!” Yoon Suk yelled at the waiter, who was stopped in front of him. The waiter, instead of stopping, kept stepping back and back on that narrow and dark street where the secret door of the club overlooked. He wasn’t only trying to find a way and escape, but he was also threatening Yoon Suk with a 9 mm gun, which he took from one of the boxes kept in the last booth. That gun had been there since he started to work in that club, three months ago, in case he’d need it.
That night, as soon as he saw the detectives and the masked agents, he understood he would be forced to shoot. To make sure he’d escape, he took the secret door. Then, getting to the last booth, he took the gun from one of the boxes with alcohol and aimed at the door. Thus, when SolHi and Yoon Suk appeared in the doorway, he fired the first bullet. Then, without checking if he hurt someone, the waiter ran toward the stairs that led outside.
Yoon Suk, although feared not being shot eventually, didn’t move from his place. SolHi instead entered the booth in front when she heard moans from there. Thus, she found Ha Na convulsing, lying on the floor. Yet, although he saw that she needed help, Yoon Suk didn’t stay with SolHi but followed the waiter at her command.
Running out in the street, right after stepping over its threshold, Yoon Suk was forced to lean back when a second bullet shot by the waiter hit the wall to his left. Bouncing off, the bullet hit the window of one of the cars parked on that street. Even so, Yoon Suk didn’t hide. He, making sure he wouldn’t be taken by surprise again by shooting another bullet, got from behind the door and followed the waiter at a slow pace.
The waiter, although badly wanting to shoot once again, preferred not to do that because he realized that he had only one bullet left. This didn’t impede him from threatening Yoon Suk although he had a full charger, enough to riddle him with bullets. Then, the moment he passed by a pile of old boxes from under which two vagabond cats bounced off, the poor waiter also jumped to the side. Because of the fear, he’d been about to shoot his last bullet. Before doing this, he had to protect himself because Yoon Suk shot the first bullet in the air, demanding to the waiter later, „I told you to stop!”
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
„And I told you to go to hell!” The waiter said through his teeth. „You too!” He yelled at the two cats this time, which continued to meow. Because of his scream, the felines ran out of there as fast as they could, understanding that it wasn’t a simple joke to meet two idiots with guns.
The fact that both of them had a big scare because of the two cats made the two men precocious. Because of this, while one stepped back and the other one in front, they carefully looked at each other, trying to anticipate the movement of the other one. Eventually, seeing that the waiter wouldn’t stop, Yook Suk told him through the teeth, „As far as I see, you are damn eager to have a bullet hole in the middle of your forehead, right? Because of this, you don’t stop! Something that will happen if you don’t put the gun down and surrender.”
The waiter burst into laughter. „Do you consider me stupid or what? Put your gun down! I… am not in the mood to allow you to grab me. If this happens, I won’t ever breathe fresh air again.”
It was Yoon Suk’s turn to burst into laughter. „Why? Do you feel guilty for so many things?”
„I? Of course not! Yet, this doesn’t mean I see the light of the sun tomorrow if the cops catch me. Why? Because if this happens, others will break me into pieces not to talk.”
„Others? Who exactly? Your boss?”
„Maybe… I don’t know… Find out alone if you think you are that smart!” The waiter shouted the last part of the sentence through his teeth. After that, he shot the last bullet. Yoon Suk moved aside just in time and the bullet passed by him, injuring Gi’s arm, who was stepping over the threshold at that moment, knocking him down eventually.
„Idiot!” Yoon Suk growled, seeing the waiter running as fast as he could down the street, trying to escape. The young detective didn’t follow him but approached Gi, dragging him to the shelter of one of the cars. „Are you alright, sombe?” He asked Gi eventually, seeing the deep wound that was badly bleeding. Even so, Gi was still awake.
Gi furiously hummed through his teeth after Yoon Suk took a handkerchief out of his pocket and put it on the wound, „Catch that bastard, Yoon Suk! Don’t let him escape because I swear I’ll kill him today!” After that, pressing alone on the wound, he spurred Yoon Suk to follow the waiter.
Yoon Suk didn’t wait for a second invitation and ran after the waiter. He did that not because he didn’t care about Gi, but because he noticed that the waiter was far away already, heading toward the main road. While running after him, Yoon Suk kept yelling at that one to stop or he’d shoot.
Arriving at the corner of the main street, Yoon Suk saw the waiter turning right and continuing to run down the street. The young man was far enough from him and this gave Yoon Suk the feeling that he could lose him if he hadn’t done anything to impede it. Yet, the moment he spotted a black off-road car appearing from a side street, he stopped due to a hunch that suddenly pierced his chest. He did well stopping because, seconds after this, he saw a gun’s barrel getting through the half-open window of the car. This made Yoon Suk throw himself to the ground, behind a car.
Not the same happened to the waiter, who didn’t see either the car or the gun. He spotted them only when it was too late. Yet, he didn’t have the chance to react because the one who was in the backseat of the car shot two bullets into the back of his head, knocking him down. None of the shots had been heard because of the silencer. Then, closing the window, the driver stepped on the gas pedal, leaving the place at full speed and turning right the first chance they got. While turning right, the driver didn’t bother to decrease the speed. Because of this, an unpleasant shriek of tires had been heard all around.
„No… no… no,” Yoon Suk shouted when he saw the waiter lying face down. After that, making sure that no danger was lurking on them anymore, he ran toward the victim. He passed by the waiter eventually, intending to see where the off-road car headed eventually. Getting to the corner of the street and looking along it, he saw no car there.
„Damn!” Yoon Suk swore. After that, he looked at the waiter but was afraid to approach him and check if he was still alive. He was afraid not to be shot because the waiter still had the gun in his right hand. Because of this, Yoon Suk shouted at him, aiming at the young man with the gun, „Raise your hands!” The waiter didn’t move, something that seemed weird to the young detective. Because of this, he carefully looked at him and saw the wound on the back of the waiter’s head. „Damn it!” Yoon Suk hissed through his teeth again, seeing the blood dripping off the waiter’s neck. Then, approaching the waiter, he moved the gun with his leg away and, squatting next to him, the detective checked the waiter’s pulse, which wasn’t at all felt. „He’s dead! Damn him!”
Eventually, Yoon Suk winced when he heard DooSan’s voice behind him, „Your merit?”
„I wished it would have been my merit, but no… he’d been shot from an off-road car.”
„Did you see the registration number?”
„No, everything has been too fast, Prosecutor Han!”
„Got it! The important thing here is that you are fine. I hope,” DooSan whispered. After that, he looked at the waiter while approaching him and Yoon Suk. Seeing the wound, he said, „I think his people have gotten rid of him.”
„I also think so. Yet, how did you find me? I thought…”
„SolHi told me where you and Gi left. Then, I saw Detective Gi while the paramedics took him and he gave me some directions.” Seeing that Yoon Suk was nervous after he heard about Gi, DooSan told him, „He’s fine! He’ll live! Now, let’s call an ambulance for this one too!”
„It’s too late already: he’s dead! Better call your friend because he’ll be more useful than a paramedic!” DooSan smirked. Then, he sighed when he saw Yoon Suk frowning. „And… It’s too bad because he was still young. I don’t think that he was older than twenty.”
„I know! Yet, he looked for it when he started to work for criminals. I think he’d like to surrender, but… it’s too late: the one with the scythe is waiting for him at the doors of the other world!” After that, he gave a phone call to GhiYon, to whom he said, „Move your ass to the address I’ll text you, Pack GhiYon! I’ve got a job for you!” Then, without waiting for the forensic doctor’s answer, he told Yoon Suk, „Call the others here! This one won’t run away! In case this happens, I’m here: watching him!”
„Yeah, take care of him not to be bothered by vagabond cats! For the rest, it’s already too late. And… Why should I bother to go and summon the others here when I can give them a phone call?!” After that, seeing DooSan smirking, Yoon Suk grinned and took a few steps away to give the phone call.
DooSan squinted at Yoon Suk until that one turned his back to him. After that, he looked at the waiter, who was lying at his feet and he was really sorrowful for him because he was too young. Yet, as he had said to Yoon Suk before: the waiter looked for the Death while working in the criminal world and DooSan was more than sure that he knew for whom he was working once he had a gun with him.
***
A similar car to the one from inside which the waiter was shot was parked about three hundred meters from the entrance to the club. And, looking through the tinted window while squeezing a cigar in his hand, SinJu gnashed his teeth. Then, because of the force applied to the cigar, he broke it into pieces. He was really pissed off that even his eyes were slowly sparkling while his lower lip was shaking.
Eventually, he looked to his right when his driver said, „We have guests!” Thus, SinJu saw a motorcycle stopping not that far from them. Who was the driver, SinJu didn’t see because of the helmet. Even so, he asked his driver, „Do you know him?”
„You also know him, boss. He is no one other than Iun Dja Iun. He’s a friend of Detective Ian. And, because of him and his gang, the police found this place and arrested one of our couriers.”
„Whom exactly?”
„Gu SilGi. He was one of our Premium Couriers, but he’s useless now.”
„Where do they keep him?”
„Kanam Police Station. Even so, it’ll be challenging to have him and all this is because of the Organized Crime Department. They arrested him, at Captain Lee Do Hun’s order. I think you also know him.”
„Of course, I know that rat Lee Do Hun. I also know that all this has happened because of Han DooSan, who has known the Captain since long ago, and that they have a damn good relationship.”
„I think they met through Prosecutor Han’s father, who had a good relationship with Captain Lee. I didn’t know he was friends with the son too.”
„Their relationship isn’t something important for me as long as they stay away from me. Something that doesn’t happen as far as I see because these two have started to hover around me lately more often than before. This is something I hate already.”
„What should we do then?”
„Get rid of them, starting with Han DooSan!” SinJu hissed through his teeth. Saying this, he was really furious. „Let’s go now!” He gave the command, and his driver nodded. After that, they headed to the opposite street from where Dja Iun appeared.
Although SinJu didn’t want this, Dja Iun still saw his car leaving that place. Because of this, squeezing the helmet in his hand, he looked for a long time behind the black vehicle, trying to understand where exactly it would head. Yet, seeing SolHi approaching him, he stopped frowning and smiled as though he saw an angel and not an old friend.
„Ooo, Detective Ian,” Dja Iun cheerfully shouted. „You look so proud of yourself! Is it because you caught someone important? As far as I see, it is so. You have even brought with you the entire cavalry.”
Hearing him talking like that, SolHi smiled. „Thanks to someone in particular. Even so, you didn’t tell me what you were doing here.”
„I? Nothing important. I just wanted to check how you are doing without me,” responded Dja Iun in a cheerful voice, shaking her hand and slowly hitting his shoulder from hers. „I see that you are doing great and that’s nothing I should be worried about.”
„Something I think it’s exaggerated… you to be worried about me. Better… tell me: what’s the deal with the car with 728 as the registration number?” Then, she pointed with her head to SinJu’s car, which turned right at that moment and she could see only the end of the plate.
„No one important… I think. I don’t know him. I was just looking behind the car because it seemed pretty,” stuttered Dja Iun drily. Then, seeing DooSan approaching them, Dja Iun cooked his nose.
DooSan did the same, seeing SolHi alone with Dja Iun. Because of this, he even decided to tease the two by saying, „Romance under the clear moon?” Seeing SolHi’s sour face, DooSan smirked eventually.
SolHi reproachfully shook her head, and then murmured, „The wolves like you always howl when the moon rises. You instead… are blowing down my neck. Why?”
„Because… I hate when one of my people does nothing.”
„Really?!” SolHi ironically asked, squinting at him.
„Yeah, really! I always know what you say. And… I didn’t know we had new detectives in our team,” DooSan reproachfully responded, staring at Dja Iun this time.
„Detective? I? Not in a million years. I’ve just come after one,” Dja Iun said, smiling, understanding that if DooSan reacted like that it was because he was jealous.
„After one? After whom exactly? Aaa, you came after the invisible man,” DooSan jokingly said. Then, suddenly, he put the hood on SolHi’s head, covering her eyes too, as though he tried to hide her from the other man’s sight.
„Ia!” SolHi shouted. Then, she suddenly turned toward him, intending to hit his ankle. She failed to hit him because DooSan, used to her way of being, jumped to the side. Thus, he released SolHi, who furiously growled through her teeth eventually, „Worse than a child!”
„Nea, I’m not a child. I’m just acting like one with… other children. So, what plans do you have? If I can know, of course.” After that, he suspiciously looked at them.
Dja Iun smiled. „I’m just trying to take my revenge on Grunny. While I still have the chance.”
SolHi furiously squinted at him. „Are you that eager to die?”
„No, but I’m sure I’ll die one day because of you.” After that, Dja Iun sweetly smiled, making DooSan nervously move while smirking. He even stepped in front of SolHi, as though protecting her from Dja Iun.
DooSan’s reaction amazed SolHi a lot because she had never expected such behavior from him. Only Dja Iun didn’t seem amazed, but nervous. He even forced himself to smile, although he was worried because, at the corner of the street, much in front of them, he saw another motorcyclist with the helmet on, spying on them.

„No way!” DooSan hissed through his teeth while staring at SolHi. Then he grabbed her hand and pulled her toward him when she tried to climb on the moto although he disagreed.
„May I know why you are against this race?” SolHi asked him in an irritated voice. She even frowned after this while her eyes seemed like sharp blades of knives about to cut DooSan.
„Because… it’s not something usual for a woman to be on the street at night, dressed like this, on the moto, and competing in an illegal moto race with a stranger.”
„Illegal race? Stranger? Ia, Han DooSan, it seems to me that you have completely lost your mind. Why? Because… on the first hand, this isn’t an illegal race while the road where we’ll compete is closed to make repairs. Secondly: the speed will be a lot under the permitted speed on these streets. Three: with a stranger? Dja Iun? I think you are confused now because the only stranger and dangerous person here is you. Why? Because, otherwise, I can’t explain how I’ve been able to let you in my house and feed you with meat each time you are hungry.” While saying this, SolHi seemed about to blow up. She was damn furious with Han DooSan. „And… yeah, I trust him more than you! So… get lost!” She yelled at him eventually. After that, pushing DooSan away from her, she climbed on the moto and took the helmet in her hands, intending to put it on.
By doing this, SolHi underestimated DooSan a lot. He, suddenly, grabbed the helmet and, using force, he got her off the motto. He even stepped in front of her when he saw SolHi trying to climb on it again.
„Ia, Han DooSan, what the hell do you think you are doing?”
„Showing you that you have to listen to me,” DooSan hissed through his teeth. „So, if you don’t want to see me mad, I suggest you stay calm! Otherwise, I’ll show you for real what Han DooSan can do when he’s furious.”
„I understand now why it’s said that jealousy can kill,” Dja Iun teased him. He did that, looking around. Yet, seeing nobody spying on them as it happened before, amazed him, although he didn’t calm down. Even so, he said nothing about his concern.
He winced eventually, seeing DooSan showing him his fangs. „Jealous? I? On you two? Yeah, right! If I’m here and I’m taking part in this circus, it’s because I hate to be left behind. That’s all!” After that, opening the top box’s cap, he took a leather coat and the second helmet out of there, which he put on him eventually.
Outraged, SolHi stared at him while he put the coat and the helmet on. Then, she said through her teeth, „Should I understand that you’ll compete with Dja Iun in my place?” Then, looking at Dja Iun and seeing him smiling because their game seemed funny to him, SolHi smirked, telling herself that she’d kill DooSan after that for sure. Then, upset, so suddenly, she sat on the sidewalk.
Seeing her acting like a child, DooSan smiled. And, teasing her, he said, „Are you sure you won’t come with us? Well, I think I might eat your friend if you stay here!” A remark that made SolHi squint at him, hinting him to keep his mouth shut if he didn’t want to be killed.
Dja Iun laughed with all his heart at that time. Then, without caring about SolHi’s killing glance, he said, „Come on, SolHi: you can kill him later! I permit you! Meanwhile, I say to have some fun and it’ll be funnier for sure if racing the three of us together.”
„Yeah, right! I’m sure the „prosecutor” will take care to spoil our fun.”
„Only if you break the law!”
„Are you looking for your death?” SolHi asked him, boiling inside because of anger. DooSan only shrugged, like an answer to her question. Yet, not even this made SolHi stand up.
Only when Dja Iun said, „If you don’t come, I assure you I’ll abandon your leash somewhere and you won’t ever be capable of finding it,” SolHi stood up. „Or… you won’t ever see me again if your pitbull pounces on me.”
„Was the „pitbull” about me?” DooSan growled, hating the remark. His question had a different meaning than the one he openly sent to Dja Iun before that, „If I put my paw on you after the race and SolHi isn’t around, I assure you’ll ask me for mercy on your knees for sure.”
Dja Iun comically shrugged, fighting with his laughter. Then, he whispered to DooSan, „If you can, of course,” hinting to him that he understood the hidden message. This made DooSan sigh because, although he was more than eager to twist Dja Iun’s neck just to show who the „boss” among them was, he decided that it was wiser for all of them to keep his mouth shut. He just stood quiet until SolHi put the helmet on again and climbed on the same motto as he was, behind him. This made DooSan triumphantly smile, spotting Dja Iun cooking his nose. And, to rub more salt on Dja Iun’s wounds, he grabbed SolHi’s hands and forced her to hug him from behind while happily smiling because… she was there, so close to him, and only his.

Aligned to an invisible starting line, the two motorcycles were powerfully shining in the light of the street lamps. Both motorcycles weren’t new. Even so, being loved by Dja Iun, a great lover of vehicles on two wheels, they looked so neat and clean.
As much as Dja Iun loved motorcycles, he also loved SolHi. Because of this, he forgot about everything else at that moment. Yet, he didn’t forget about his rivalry with DooSan, something that killed him inside because he couldn’t bear up with this while seeing SolHi stuck to his rival’s back. And, having the visor lifted, the same as DooSan, Dja Iun looked on the sly at the woman who stole his heart a long time ago, but whose heart he hadn’t been capable of stealing. His rival did that so soon, something that enraged him the most and made him look at DooSan like an eagle at his tasty prey. He knew that he wasn’t ready to give up on SolHi and that DooSan wouldn’t do that either. Because of this, the two of them accepted to participate in that crazy race. Even so, the two men had a single thought at that moment: that they would have liked SolHi to stay away from the race and from their madness.
If he hadn’t seen SinJu in front of „The Black Sun” and hadn’t known that he could do something against SolHi and the Prosecutor, Dja Iun would have insisted that SolHi not participate in the race. Yet, being sure that leaving her alone could have been dangerous for her, Dja Iun decided to take her with them. Why? He was determined not to allow anybody to die because of someone else’s stupidity and avarice. Actually, also because of this, he came to the club they checked that night, having the perfect excuse to be by their side and protect them if necessary: an old beat he and SolHi had and when he lost. That’s why he told SolHi that night that he wanted to take revenge until it wasn’t too late.
Nevertheless, at that moment when the race was about to start and he saw SolHi’s hand slowly shaking because of fear, Dja Iun started to regret having her with them. He had no other choice than to continue. Moreover, when SolHi yelled at them, „Come on, just do it! Why are you spying on each other like two in-love pigeons? Or… should I leave you alone to feel deeper your love?” Her remark drove Dja Iun crazy because he couldn’t understand how SolHi could not understand who they were loving in fact.
He would have told her their secret that night if DooSan hadn’t anticipated his intention. And, putting the visor on, DooSan told SolHi, „You are an impatient mouse for sure! We got the point, no need to yell or threaten us! And, hold me tighter or I can lose you on the way!”
Hearing DooSan talking like that with SolHi, Dja Iun smiled. „I must accept that this man has some blood in his veins,” he thought. „Yet, why am I lying to myself? To deal with a woman like SolHi and control her, one must be like him.” After that, rotating the hand clutch so fast, Dja Iun made the engine of his motto yell so loud, and an unpleasant smell of burnt tires was felt around too.
DooSan did the same. He wasn’t eager to lose in front of Dja Iun for nothing in the world. And, looking in front at the smooth road with no obstacles on it, the two motorcyclists smiled. They were really happy because the race had to be a very exciting one once the road was in repairs and it was clearly informed by the plaque „Road on work.” This meant that nobody would bother them and that they could act up as they wanted, with no fear that they could hurt someone. What none of them took into account was the open trench seen somewhere in front which the workers didn’t cover because they still had to change the pipes. Yet, neither DooSan nor Dja Iun seemed to care about this or the red flags seen on both sides of the trench.
Because of the same inattention and the adrenaline felt boiling in their veins, both men allow themselves the luxury to go faster than the speed limit they had decided before the race: 80 km/h. They did that because of the mad desire to win. At the same time, none of them took into account SolHi’s wish. She, feeling the speed increasing, closed her eyes and pulled her body closer to DooSan’s, clenching her fingers into each other.
Her unexpected reaction made DooSan attentive. Then, he looked at her hands. After that, for a moment only, he looked back. He couldn’t see her face though and this made him frown eventually. He was really worried and understood that he’d been wrong in allowing SolHi to be on the same motto as him. Yes, he should have insisted on her to wait for them in the car once she was afraid of speed. Yet, it was too late for regrets.
Not only DooSan noticed SolHi’s fear. The same happened to Dja Iun. And, seeing this, he told himself, „Foolish girl! Why does she take the risk if she’s afraid?” Thus, because he loved her and was preoccupied with her, Dja Iun decreased the speed, intending to give up on the race. Something DooSan didn’t notice and continued to advance.
Eventually, Dja Iun winced when he heard the voice of one of his friends in the headphones. „Truck, Dja Iun! There is a truck on the right! It’s heading straight toward you!” A scream that made the young man shudder from top to toe. This happened because of SolHi and DooSan, who were approaching the mentioned crossroads at full speed.
Seeing this and that they weren’t aware of anything, Dja Iun increased the speed again, starting to send up flares to make them attentive. He even honked several times. DooSan instead, too focused on driving the motto, didn’t notice them. Only SolHi heard the honk and looked back. Thus, she saw the desperate signs Dja Iun made toward her, but she couldn’t understand the meaning of those signs.
Seeing the light signals, SolHi slowly tapped on DooSan’s shoulder. Then, she told him, „Dja Iun tries to warn us about something!” DooSan didn’t hear what she said and turned his head toward her. Thus, he also saw the signals Dja Iun sent up to them to look to their right. Looking over there, DooSan finally saw the truck coming straight toward them. Yet, it was too late to turn left. At the same time, it was dangerous to advance because he entered the area of the red flags without realizing that he did that. The last chance to survive was to increase the speed more, pass right in front of the truck, and turn right after passing by it.
His thought was suicide though. The same had Dja Iun’s friends thinking because they kept yelling in the headphones, „Dja Iun, do something! They’ll die if you leave them alone! Do something! Now!”
His friends’screams made Dja Iun swear because it wasn’t what he planned for that night. At the same time, „I didn’t want to end like that,” he murmured. Even so, knowing where he was heading at that moment, he did that with a light heart. And, in the last possible moment, he managed to pass by them, forcing DooSan to pull the hand clutch to the left and fall into the ditch while the truck entered right into Dja Iun’s motto.
Upon impact, the young man was thrown up at first, falling on the hood of the truck after this. Eventually, he was thrown on the road, far behind the truck. Because of the force, Dja Iun rolled enough meters on the asphalt. And, when he stopped moving eventually, he continued to lie on his stomach, both arms under his body and with his head facing the place where DooSan and SolHi fell off the motto.
Looking toward the heap of earth, Dja Iun saw SolHi lying on the wet soil, with her eyes closed and her face turned toward him. DooSan wasn’t seen anywhere. Yet, this didn’t bother Dja Iun but to see SolHi unconscious. Then, when a long creak was heard around due to the truck’s wheels after the driver stepped on the brake pedal to the brim while trying to avoid impact with the heap of earth, Dja Iun closed his eyes for a few moments. Even so, although he didn’t see what was going on, he still heard how the truck, whose front bumper stuck into his motorcycle, continued to push the vehicle in front, on the asphalt, making an infernal shriek and splashing with fire sparkles all around.
Eventually, when the madness was history and the truck finally stopped in that heap of earth, Dja Iun opened his eyes again. He heard the ambulance somewhere in the distance, probably called by his friends… about ten young men, whom he eventually saw riding their motorcycles at full speed while approaching them. „The same friends who never betrayed me,” Dja Iun thought. He was absolutely happy to know all of them there.
Arriving at the crash site, the young man, who warned Dja Iun about the truck, left his motto fell with a bang after he got off it and ran toward the injured one. He kept yelling his name, although Dja Iun seemed not to hear him. Dja Iun saw only how his other friends ran toward the truck, trying to avoid the driver to escape because they saw the man about forty getting out of the truck and intending to run away.
The nine young men surrounded the driver at the last possible moment. Thus, seeing that he wouldn’t be capable of running away, the driver sat on one of the truck’s stairs, with his head bowed. He had a deep wound on the right temple and his arms were injured too. Yet, he was conscious, and his life wasn’t probably in danger once he tried to escape.
The other three victims didn’t have the chance to leave on their feet. At the same time, it wasn’t clear how many of them would survive that night because SolHi was unconscious, DooSan wasn’t seen anywhere, and Dja Iun felt that his life was leaving him. Because of this, after his friend raised the visor to see his eyes, Dja Iun looked past him, at SolHi. And, with tears in his eyes, Dja Iun murmured, „I’m sorry, SolHi! I always wanted more time for us! Yet, I’ve lost everything today!” After that, Dja Iun closed his eyes… probably forever…
