Re: Chapter 8.3 - First kill

Re: Chapter 8.3 - First kill

Now that I have some alone time, I went over the battle today in my mind. It was a pretty bad defeat no matter how I looked at it…the main problem was my arm…no my body…

Even when fighting the worm the reason that “arm lance” failed was because the slime like body is completely useless in attacks….I am not sure if this can be hardened…but I need to add substance to my punches….

I begin setting up the undead bone structure in my body. So far the bones have just been floating inside me. I haven’t used them since they hinder my slime like movement but the glaring weakness of the slime body have finally been brought to light. While it is a good body it doesn’t provide me with enough attack power.

After assembling the bones internally, I begin layering my slime like gel around it. Since memory blob was high enough, I could make the jelly like wrapping stick on with greater compactness.

New stat: Slime Layers!

New stat: Slime Compactness!

That is a first. Usually it takes a longer time to for me to gain stats…something like repeated action but these came pretty quick…I wonder if it is because of Memory Blob being a higher level or me being a slime…

Slime Layering: layering provides sturdiness to the skin. The number of layers you create depend on slime mass available to layer.

Slime Compactness: You can now compact your slime and store more in the same volume. This will increase the density of your slime muscles! The density of your slime depends on slime mass available to compact.

I smiled when I saw the stats, the practice of manipulating my body was finally paying off…seeing the stats, I had an idea…

I broke my arm into several tentacles and began to intertwine them amongst each other like a rope….and the result being I got back my arm; only it is more refined in terms of durability. Now had I used such an arm with Gustav, I doubt he would be able to yank it off.

New stat: Slime Stitching!

Slime Stitching: You can now stitch slime into more durable slime muscle. The refinement of stitching depends on your slime stitching level.

I cannot break my slime to a thread like level yet…but I have a feeling if I practice enough, I’ll get there…for now I stitch slime around the joints of the skeleton and begin to reinforce them with slime layering and compacting. With a dense bone grip to provide stability and compacting my slime around my body in layers…I am fairly certain my body is now hard….at least I can’t move fluidly like a slime…that is unless I dissolve the intricate slime structure I created…it took several hours to just make my new body. From the outside there seems to be no difference but it’s what on the inside that counts.

I press against the walls of my hole and push. Normally, my slime would be pushed back but now with something to grip on to and with the layering, the slime is only being squeezed…just how normal skin and muscle would react when being pressed against the wall.

Time for a punch…

My slime hand splattered all over the wall.

Still not quite there…

Nonetheless, I would say this is somewhat of an improvement. I could describe my hand as a water balloon layered several times like a … water balloon so it really wasn’t unexpected that it would burst if punched…if I could increase the elasticity of my membrane then maybe it won’t be as bad…

Next,  I try to stretch my slime like body as much as possible.  Placing my internal organs aside, I cling on the walls of my closure and stretch what remains of me….I try not tugging too hard since I don’t want to tear myself up…something like a hand gripper exercise…except I am stretching myself…

Slime Elasticity +1

I didn’t even know I had such a stat.

The reason my slime arm was yanked of today was because I didn’t know my own elasticity. I think it would be a good idea to understand my own bodily limits…I keep stretching till…I tore myself up…Now having half a body on one end and another half elsewhere is the weirdest bodily experience I have ever had.

After some level of difficulty and trial and error, I managed to fuse back with my body.

Slime Fusion +1

I really need to figure out how to access the menu bar…I keep seeing stats +1s without knowing I even had such stats…

I find myself drowsy and worn out from all my bodily experiments….it’s been a tiresome day…

Night 26

I haven’t displayed my new found powers i.e. layering and compacting my slime, to the Abbe or Gustav as yet…I don’t want to show them a half-baked technique. I have been taking my days to simply level the stats up.

Stitching, layering, compacting and training my elasticity are like workout exercises for me…like how doing push ups, sit ups , and pull ups would make a human stronger, these exercises make a slime like me stronger.

I still haven’t been able to figure out how to access my stats window, so I don’t know how much they have levelled. However, I am keeping track of my punch’s effectiveness. Right now, I can do about 2-3 punches before the membranes durability breaks down and my slimy-ness spills all over …

Thankfully, the punching exercise increases my membrane durability stat (also learnt I had this stat) and elasticity stat.

I spent an hour doing the exercises before I set of for my hunt.

My stealth is at level 10 and tracking at level 5.

I have graduated from insects a while back and am on to lizards and other small creatures of the night. However, today I feel like I can catch the desert rat.

My senses are sharp as ever and I have found a fresh print in the sand.

I followed the print for a few minutes before I located my dinner.

The rat looks up for a second as if it heard something but then resumes nibbling on the carcass of an unfortunate lizard.

I slowly peered up from my hiding spot. Good, he still hasn’t taken notice of me.

I take my time to spread my slime all everywhere. It resembles nothing more than spilt water to the unsuspecting rat. Thanks to compactness, I have been storing more water in my body. It takes me an hour to convert one litre of water into bodily slime that has motor functions. I have had 14 days to up my water intake.

The rat doesn’t even notice that he is surrounded by water on all sides.

I slowly make my slime move towards the rat.

The rat looks up. It can tell something is not right; where did all this water come from?

SoraChan’s imagination of the Rat’s POV

Where did all this water come from?

But it’s good there is water here, I was just getting thirsty.

*Sip*

Help!

Water has caught my tongue!! My legs!! I can’t move!!

No!!

What is this!!

I can’t escape this water!!

This is not water!!

Help!!

No!

It’s getting into my mouth and nose forcefully.

Its making me stand on my hind legs and do a tap dance!

****DEAD*****

Sora’s POV

Okay the last bit was excessive and cruel....I will never play with my food again.

New stat: Hunting!

And that is how I caught my first desert rat. I am not sure how other people catch it but I would like to assume that was an intelligent and efficient way of catching it. The poor “mousy wousy” drowned in me…

It took a week and a lot levelling up. However, I have finally caught one.

Sadly, these creatures give no EXP points so catching and killing them results in no level up. I don't know why they don't give EXP...but I have several theories on that point. I'll get the most ridiculous out of the way; killing creatures in this world gives no EXP but I know this is false since I confirmed it with the Abbe....his answers were vague but he said killing monsters makes men stronger. The problem in that sentence is that he made no reference to EXP points or level ups. If I talked about level ups and EXP to him, he would ignore the topic and call it trivial. So let's believe for now EXP points do exist.

The only reasons I can then think of is, that either rats are too low leveled creatures for me and killing them will yield no EXP points. Or....killing fellow monsters will yield no exp points. I would hate it if it turns out to be the second one....cause that would mean I need to kill humans to get exp....there are one or two other reasons I can think why I didn't receive EXP....but honestly should I even care? I think it is important to think about that hurdle when I get there; for now I celebrate - I owned a mousy wousy!
