Before I begin to describe what is happening below (City and Giant Slime), I believe it is important that I explain the existence of the Vampiress Valentine Congelés before I forget the details again.
Forgetting is also a rule or maybe a curse. How does a machine make me forget is a mystery, but I guess if the world can forget about those who play this game making me forget about a tiny incident shouldn’t be too difficult?
I met Valentine Congelés for the first time in the ‘floating body chamber’ or should I call it ‘Narnia’s Wardrobe’?
I guess the name does not matter. Let's just stick with body customization stage.
In the midst of creating my ultimate body (code named project Frankenstein at the time), I hit a road block when I tried to extract the Vampire’s power. I was (and still am) interested in their inhuman healing, strength and agility.
Based on my extensive experience of Royal Road, I can say that Vampires are one of the strongest races. I have gone head to head with the draconian races which are a clear cut above Vampires but I still found Vampires harder to deal with….especially pure blooded nobility / clan leader and upwards could be considered on par with some of the more superior races Royal Road has to offer.
Hence, I knew I vampire characteristic were an ideal part of my project Frankenstein. However, the FP price of using vampire attributes was too high. Without the knowledge of what to extract, I would be wasting FP and each FP is precious.
Just when I was about to give up, I remembered something I learnt from the clan leader of the True Blood vampire clan in Royal Road.
I forget his name; he wasn’t that strong or interesting. The only reason we got along was for our common interest of beautiful women…no actually if I remember right, he would turn every woman on sight into stone. That is when our friendship parted ways….though that is a story for another time.
Anyways, summary of what I learnt from this clan leader was that everything lay in the blood of a vampire; strength, agility, regeneration and memories. It is those memories that turn human blood into vampire blood which in turn gives vampires the inhuman characteristics that I so badly desire. I am not a hundred percent sure if this is what he told me (since we were terribly drunk) but this was the gist of it.
Given that I have two hours for completing project Frankenstein, I tried extracting memories from Vampire blood. The specimen I chose was royalty grade.
Worst case, this would not work and I would have to move on.
Best case, I get what I want at a substantially cheaper price.
As my luck would have had it, Ruler of Rules is infringes every original idea. I felt pity for the developer for lacking originality. To conclude, the extraction was a success and that is when I met Valentine Congelés; the mother of all vampires.
***
Valentine Congelés, let’s just call her Valentine, is over ten thousand years old. Like wine, vampires grow stronger and stronger as they age. Valentine was no exception to the rule. However, since she died much before that, only her spirit grows stronger but without a body it is futile. The net effect being her kin is more powerful than your run of the mill vampire.
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
Also, I should correct myself here, she isn’t the mother of [i]all[/b] vampires but six of them (her bloodlines). If she was the mother of all vampires….I can’t even begin imagining what labour pains must have been like.
I digress, these six had children and so on. Hence, she is treated as their mother. In totality her kin make up about a sixth of the vampire population of this world. There are five other vampiresses as old as her. Together these six form the basis of the six vampire clans of this world. Each clan specializes in a certain elemental magic; as Valentine’s surname suggests, she is (was) known as the Ice queen. She and her descendants have the ability to manipulate element ice or some form of ice depending upon which bloodline the descendant vampire came from.
I wouldn’t have known this if Valentine didn’t tell me all this.
Why did she tell me this?
Some sort of a ritual on accepting and becoming her child.
In the end, to accept vampire powers I had to accept her memories, blessing and curse. This also meant, I had to accept becoming enslaved to her commands.
After careful consideration, I accepted her baptism….and then I received this message:
Failed to receive Valentine Congelés’ memories.

Nothing ever proceeds smoothly with me. I believe I have a knack for setting precedents.
Valentine was as surprised as me when she realized that I didn’t receive her blessing.
However, unlike me she quickly identified three reasons for this.
Firstly, I had to be human or some kind of normal creature. A Frankenstein version wouldn’t cut it.
Secondly, to make the Frankenstein version work, I needed to be bitten.
Lastly, the most important reason; I did not belong to any bloodline. The body which I had chosen to extract memories was her own….which meant she would have to give me a new bloodline….but since I am not born from her that was impossible…
In the end, it was deemed impossible to inherit the memories of Valentine Congelés.
However, I was able to acquire some vampire characteristics; under the condition of agreeing to become her host. Just being her host was expensive in terms of FP, so Valentine assured me she would work around that problem and she did.
I am not sure what she did but I acquired her at a relatively low price.
That was our first meeting.
