Chapter 39.1 - Monster Dungeon (Part 2)

Sora groaned as he got up slowly – in terms of damage he lost a mere 3% HP however the real problem was he was now completely surrounded by jelly fishes and much further away from the exit than when he started. Sora however ignored them all, he only eyed the tentacle – mysterious tentacle number four which had hid itself in a crevice above the exit made an appearance.

The three tentacles normally wake up when the intruder reaches the halfway mark. They are usually swift enough to protect the exit however Sora was (as always an exception to the rule) faster than anticipated. Under more normal circumstances intruders are slowed down by the lightening attacks however Sora was different than anything else that had invaded before. His speed never slowed once even while dodging the barrage of bolts.

It could be considered nothing short of a miracle that Sora was able to evade the attacks so effortlessly – it was his terrible misfortune there was no one around to witness it otherwise he was certainly be viewed with awe. Maybe it wasn’t coincidence but Sora normally hid this side of him from others. That said Sora was definitely being watched – watched by the Jelly Fishes.

Although these floating creatures appear quite brainless they weren’t as brainless as they appeared. They were intelligent monsters which learnt with experience – and Sora was a new experience for them. Never before had they encountered someone who could so effortlessly dodge each other their attacks. Naturally, being intelligent creatures the jelly fish panicked and went all out against Sora the moment he reached the mid-point however Sora continued to evade them so easily.

How? They wondered but that was an answer they would never get. The jelly fishes would probably die of shame if they ever learnt that Sora was barely level 11. For a skeleton with such low AGI and SPD dodging a single bolt of lightning should be impossible – however Sora was fairly confident that as long as he could see the attack coming he could dodge it.

To be more correct – Sora wasn’t dodging the attacks he was anticipating where the attacks were headed. Even the lowest level creature with the basic AGI levels would be able to dodge an attack as long as they knew where it was coming from well in advance. In Sora’s case he knew a full two seconds before where a jelly fish was intending to launch an attack before it actually launched the attack.

More precisely, between each attack there was a gap of full five seconds; that was the recharge time required to load the attack. Five seconds may not seem much when compared to the number of jelly fishes present (over one hundred). This meant that at any given second Sora had to dodge at least twenty bolts. When viewed like this Sora was confident in his abilities to be able to keep up – as long as he could see them – even if there were over a hundred of them.

That is why Sora took a hit from the fourth hidden tentacle – because he had been unaware of its existence. As Sora could not anticipate it he could not dodge it.

The next moment the jelly fishes being intelligent monsters that learnt from experience quickly surrounded Sora. They were leaving no room for him to escape – they viewed Sora as a bothersome existence and knew they had to finish him off sooner better than later. Thus they didn’t wait even a second to launch an attack after they completed surrounding him.

Before Sora could formulate the next move, he was struck with nearly 10,000 volts of electricity.

Even with the slime greased over his body, Sora had little resistance to an attack of such scale.

And let me repeat, these jelly fishes were extremely intelligent. They ensured to attacked in two batches in quick succession. Sora’s HP declined by 90% in an instant, before he could even realize what was happening he passed out cold.

Once the Jelly fishes were certain that Sora had passed out cold, they scattered. They resumed their aimless bobbing in the room.

The black scotch marks disappeared as the wounds healed and a hidden entrance opened into the room. Two short figures walked into the room and stood beside Sora.

“Eh…” One of them was clearly startled seeing Sora – not what they expected. “How did this one end up getting here?”

*Sigh* The duo let out a sigh.

“False alarm. You take him back.” The first one spoke.

“Me! Why me? You take him! You were the one who swallowed him, take responsibility!”

“I cleaned the dishes yesterday!” The first one cried back in complaint.

“I have to feed the jellies today!”

“Fine then! I’ll take him.” Grumbled the first one.

Some of the floating jellies nearby came to attend the duo. Three jellies lifted Sora into the air and followed behind the duo into the hidden passage.
