Part 1

Sora’s POV

Okay vampires are awesome. It really is too bad that I only inherited the weaknesses of vampire – poor immunity to sunlight. While, I struggle to climb up these cliffs, my heroic vampire has not only finished off killing the orc but has appeared in front of me. It wouldn’t be half as amazing if he was climbing alongside me – the vampire is standing on a wall. It is almost as if gravity has no effect on him.

“I believe you have something of interest for me….” The vampire politely asks me as he extended his hand towards me.

Something for him? What is he talking about? Does he want more children? I already gave him Ai, does he think children are born out of thin air?

The vampire continued to hold his hand out patiently.

Could it be? He wants me to thank him for saving me? I guess a thank you is in due order. Should I shake his hand vigorously or lightly? It may not seem much but a shake hand determines ones fate at times. A hard shake – he maybe my saviour but it isn’t like I asked him to save me. I can’t come across as a weakling with a meek handshake.

Sora raised out his hand and shook Toketsu’s hand.

That is what he wanted, right? A handshake, right?

 Something doesn’t feel right here. Why is he staring at me so intently? Fine! I am going to stare back at you – if it is a staring competition that you want it is a staring competition you will get!

Both the skeleton and the vampire stared into each other’s eyes.

The vampire smiled.

Can it be? Have I passed some sort of test? This all is so confusing. Just tell me already what is it that you want?

The vampire then began laughing loudly.

Okay this guy has official gone bonkers. First, asking for something, then shaking hands, then smiling and now laughing? Are all vampires like this? Good grievance! I can’t even imagine I wanted to be a vampire…thankfully I only inherited the weakness. Imagine, if I began laughing like a maniac….

Wait…I have read enough mangas and novels to know this…could it be that this vampire is some sort of grandmaster and he sees potential in me? In a lot of these wuxia type mangas, the hero comes across some of hobo martial teacher – where the hero makes a fool out of himself when presented with the test and then the teacher begins laughing….in those situations I believe the hero laughs along with the teacher! Then, I guess I have no choice but to laugh along! If anything when in Rome do what the romans do!

Sora also began laughing alongside the vampire

Almost with movie like perfection, the vampire stopped laughing when Sora joined in the maniac laughing. The vampire wore a very grave expression.

“What are you laughing at, skeleton?” The vampire asked; his voice was oozing with killing intent.

“….” Holy f*ck. This vampire is not happy – did I get it wrong? He isn’t my future hobo martial arts teacher to be?

“Do you have anything or not?” The vampire was boiling with fury.

Damn, this guy is serious. What does he want? I don’t have anything – not even my slime bindle. All I have are my bones. If I had the slightest bit of muscles, I would have smiled politely and said ‘no’.

Unfortunately skeletons can’t smile.  “No. I am all bones. Nice to meet you?”

The vampire began laughing again.

Okay it is official – this is a psycho vampire. The #101 for dealing with laughing maniacs is always to laugh along with them and then run for it….that or when in Rome do what the Romans do!

Sora laughed along with the vampire again. Seeing Sora laugh, the vampire began laughing even more loudly.

“Hahahahahahaaha…” Okay, I can’t keep laughing like an idiot – time to escape….dammit! He is still holding my hand. [Let go!]

Did the temperature just fall….Holy sh*t!....my hand is freezing cold! I don’t even understand how I can feel cold – do I even have the nerves to feel cold or hot?

This is no time to be laughing! What the heck is this vampire!! How can his grip be so strong.

Is that a layer of ice around my hand? Not good. It seems this vampire has magical abilities – ice magic to be precise. This situation is very bad – I have seen enough movies to know what is going to happen to me now. This vampire is like Midas except he has ice touch.

Sora had guessed correctly, a layer of ice slowly made its way from the vampire’s hand to his hand; wrapping his hand in a glove of ice.

Not good! Not good! Not good!

This all is completely unplanned! F*ck! I promise I will play seriously if I escape this! I won’t chase women skirts anymore! I can’t die just yet!

No matter how much, Sora tried pulling away from the vampire he could not loosen the vampire’s grip one bit.

F*ck! F*ck! F*ck! The ice is climbing up my neck…f*ck! This can’t be the end!

In another second it was all over.

Part 2

Sora’s POV

It is so cold…so very cold. I am surprised, I am still alive…but I can feel the cold seeping into my bones and draining away my life force. This is some awesome kickass magic ability but it really is too bad that it is killing me.

Sorry Enma….I should have believed you then…maybe then you wouldn’t have come here…

Sora stood frozen like an ice statue. He no longer moved or laughed. The light in his eye sockets which was an accurate measure of whether the skeleton was alive or dead – died out.

So cold….so very cold….sorry mom-dad…

The ice continued to layer itself around Sora’s dead body like an ice coffin the truest sense.

I can’t see anything beyond this ice…I am descending into darkness…

The vampire stopped laughing and let go of Sora’s hand. In a blink the vampire appeared next to the goblins.

I can feel death descending upon me now…

….

….okay like seriously when am I going to die? I have been feeling cold for a while but can’t this whole dying thing work a bit faster….wait a minute…what if he wasn’t strong enough to kill me? Don’t tell me I am going to be stuck in this ice coffin for all eternity!!

F*ck no! I rather die than stay imprisoned for all eternity…

[Remember your promise…] Sora felt as if a woman whispered into his ear.

Remember what???!!!!... Holy ***** what the hell is this? I can feel it….I am beginning to feel a rush of energy…..if I had to compare this feeling…it is the same as drinking a crate full of RedBull and gorging on a ton of chocolates….no even if you did ten times over it won’t explain the energy rush I am feeling right now!

*Ouch*…Does it feel slightly crowded in here? Did I gain weight….how does a skeleton become fat? I think nonsense sometimes…I wonder if I can crack open this coffin.

Just as the vampire was about to gouge a goblin’s eye out with an ice needle, he stopped. There was a cracking noise coming from behind the vampire – like ice cracking.

Yes! I am free!!  Sora thought as he broke free from the ice coffin.

However, as he had been climbing the wall, breaking free meant he was now free falling into the abyss.

*Oh shit* I am falling!

Before Sora could scream, he felt something weird. Instinctively, his wings spread open and Sora gently began gliding into the abyss.

I have wings???!!!! Where the hell did those come from? I don’t know why I have wings but I think this is good enough…if I base it on my Royal Road experience…then flying shouldn’t be too difficult.

In one swoop, Sora flew up the dark hole and was now hovering behind the vampire.

This is strange…I feel like I understand ice…I am not sure what happened but I feel like my awareness has expanded…I can sense something surrounding me…is this magic? It feels like I have gained a sixth sense now….I know what I am sensing is something which lets me command ice….Should I try making an ice armour for myself…

Woah! That was fast!! I just imagined it and it appeared!

The eyes of the goblins were wide open in shock and horror - right now the goblins had a feeling their very understanding of what a superior beings would go for a toss. They weren’t afraid of the vampire which was about to torture them instead when compared to Sora the vampire looked rather ordinary.

“Toketsu-san..” The goblin whispered inaudibly, his voice urging the vampire to turn around and see what stood behind him.

Toketsu slowly turned around in disbelief – nothing survived his ice coffin attack. Behind Toketsu, the ice coffin lay cracked open and the skeleton warrior hovering in front of it.

Sora didn't resemble anything like the skeleton warrior he had killed just moments ago. This one had two pairs of fluttering black feathered wings, its eyes were burning red and thin crimson glowing lines appeared on its bones. It wore spiky ice armour, giving the skeleton warrior a very formidable look.

Hahaha! This is awesome! I don’t understand anything that is going on! But I do feel monstrously stronger! How long has it been since I last felt so alive!

‘What shall I do first…’

As Sora glanced around he noticed the vampire staring at him.

Ah yes…wasn’t he the one who tried to kill me? I should begin from there.

A tooth for a tooth, an eye for an eye and death for death….but you…I think the goblin called him Toksetsu..you, Toketsu… you didn’t try to kill me, you tried to imprison me in ice for all eternity…that is unforgivable…I will make you feel fear like you have never felt before…I will make you wish you never existed.

"Come Toketsu, let me teach you what an ice coffin is really like." Sora said as his cold cruel gaze was locked on Toketsu.

Little did Sora know, Toketsu really had intended to kill Sora with the ice coffin and not imprison him – it was just Sora’s luck having high ice element affinity that the ice coffin did nothing to him. Hence, Sora found himself imprisoned rather than dead. - Though knowing this would not aid Toketsu’s future in the slightest.
