Sora’s POV
He moved his hand into his waist coat to grab something. I flinched.
It happened so fast but he threw something on the ground.
I jumped to dodge it in fright. It was big object.
“Here keep it..” The Devil said with a smirk.
When I looked down at the object…it was the Abbe’s head.
I shuddered at the sight.
It looked like the Abbe’s head was thrown at me.
I can no longer see the Butler…there is just the Abbe’s head and me.
I can no longer hear the crackling flames…there is just complete silence.
I can no longer smell the wet earth…there is a stagnating smell of death engulfing me.
I threw up.
My body went cold and my stomach revolted.
I threw up.
I have played games, violent games and VR games….I have never seen something as sickening as this.
What we see in videos barely captures the reality of the moment.
This has to be a fake…
The Abbe was alive…
He was alive when I last saw him…
He was saved…
I saved him….
I saved him…
He escaped….
This is a fake…
This must be a figurine’s head…or I know! Illusion magic!
I can no longer feel my legs.
Am I standing?
Or am I on my knees?
The world around me is spinning.
I can no longer maintain balance.
This has to be a fake.
This has to be a fake.
My eyes are going blurry.
Ara…am I crying?
Why am I crying?
This is not real…
The Abbe escaped.
He escaped along with Maylon…and Gustav…
He is safe…then why am I crying?
Why can’t I believe myself?
Why is this magic so real?
Why am I finding it so hard to negate these emotions?
The Abbe is safe.
He is safe.
He escaped…
***
I remember our first encounter.
A shabby old man appeared beside me. His beard was white and unkempt. His clothes were tattered and he his arms were chained.
“Am I free?” Were the first words he spoke.
“Yes.”
The man cried tears while looking skyward. His eyes next fell on the girl.
“Maylon!” He cried out.
“Grandfather!” The two were quick to embrace.
*Damn! She got us a chaperone.* NOOOO!!! I my lustful dreams are crumbling before me!!!
***
I remember our serious moments;
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
“Have you been a Guardian before?”
“Yes, in my entire life I have been a Guardian six times.”
“What happened to them?”
The Abbe smiled bitterly. “Unfortunately, they died.”
So this is the reality. You lose you die in this game?
***
I remember our funny moments;
“And lastly, the Law of Mana. Together these four make up the essential laws of this world. There are more laws….though even I am not sure what they are…but these are the laws that govern everyone from the moment their existence came to light in this realm. Do you have any questions for me?”
“How do you make those glowing symbols in the air?”
***
I remember our absolute hilarious moments;
At this point, I think it might be best to say I am a monster.
The Abbe and the Garzala fainted.
I think, I am really liking Ruler of Rules….
***
I remember his smile;
I walked past the Abbe and said, “Children just don’t cut it for sparring sessions.”
Yup! I was gloating my victory. I had worked extremely hard and it is finally paying off!
Take that you metaphors spewing old man!
I think I saw the Abbe smile.
I think I will miss those metaphors.
***
I don’t know how long I cried for, but the butler is still standing in front of me.
He is smiling.
Is this some show for him to see?
What the f*ck does he think this is.
He had the head…he killed the Abbe.
He is responsible.
He took away my Guardian…my friend.
My close friend…my only friends in this world…
He is responsible.
“Yes…I killed them all.” The Devil laughed.
The pain has subsided.
I can sense the anger building up.
“I killed them all, the girl and child too.” The Devil laughed.
F*ck it.
I may be weak…but I have my pride.
I have my pride as a human being.
I won’t let him stain that.
I won’t let him make a mockery of this any further.
***
I remember his scolding.
Before I can offer an explanation or an excuse the Abbe speaks up, “You are a monster…it is only natural that you go on a rampage...”
