Chapter 31: A Goat Lost At Sea

Chapter 31: A Goat Lost At Sea

Forgetting all of her anger towards Ramone, Chloe dashed out into the hostile weather. Winds battered her face and chilling rain froze her skin. The ship bobbed precariously on the waves, and she had to make sure she didn't stumble off the deck into the ocean everytime it bucked. "Help me!" Ramone cried as he paddled helplessly on the waves, getting pulled further and further out to sea.

Luckily for Chloe, he managed to stay affloat even as the undertow pulled at him. Abacab and Monica flanked the young queen as she cried, "Rammy!"

"What should I do! What should I do!" Chloe exclaimed at the top of her lungs before she felt another smack from her own hands.

"Haven't you learned from last time," Rosemary demanded. "A hypothetical queen of the pirates always takes charge with a will of steel. Aren't you all about kicking booty and taking names?"

Chloe panted hard in the falling rain as she watched her best friend drift further and further out to sea. "You're right. I can't let Rammy die. Abacab!"

"Yes missy?!" the old captain shouted.

"Turn the bow hard to the goat in need! Don't waste no time!"

"Eye Eye!" the captain said with a wink while pointing to his eye.

"And no puns until Ramone is safe!"

Chloe turned to Monica. "We need to get close to him and then, you and I will pull him out of the water! We need to hurry."

"Si senorita!" Monica said with an affirmative head nod.

As the creaky wheel of the ship turned round, the wind began to push harder on the whaleboat against all of those who were on it. With a lightning crash, the rain pounded harder on the boat and soon, tiny pebble sized bits of hail fell around them. Chloe swatted at the barrage, trying to keep her eye trained on Ramone. They were getting closer, but as they floated over the waves, she hoped desperately that Ramone wouldn't be lost.

The sea was darkening ominously, but Chloe remained focused on her target. Soon, they were in range of a struggling, splashing satyr on the water.

"Rammy!" she cried. "Grab on to the boat!"

Unfortunately, the boat was a bit high up for him and he gurgled helplessly. "Oh mercy me! I can't! It's curtains for me, queen Annabell! This is the final elbow!"

Chloe looked at Monica, and with fear in her eyes, she said, "Drop the anchor, swordslady!"

Monica nodded and Chloe jumped into the water. She found herself thrashing about in the water, having not been much of a swimmer. "You foolish child," Rosemary growled. "How dare you throw your life...and more importantly mine to save some fashion reject!"

"Exactly why I did it, you miserable witch!" Chloe sputtered. "I can't swim well, but I know very well that you will lend me your power so YOU don't die!"

"I cannot believe you played me!" Rosemary said. "I'm the queen of deceit! But oh well..."

Energy surged up in Chloe's pipe thin limbs and she began to breast stroke magnificantly over to Ramone. "My queen...I cannot believe it..." he said as she seized him with all her demon strength. "I didn't know you cared."

"No one in my crew is expendable!" Chloe said with a confident smirk. "Not even a sassy goat man who drinks martinis!"

She scooped him up in her left arm and swam forward with her right one. She headed forward, floating over the waves to the whaleboat's anchor. She was about to scale it when suddenly, she noticed a strange pink body floating in the water. "My queen, what are you doing ..." Ramone screamed, but curiously, Chloe paddled over to it Upon closer inspection, it seemed to be a female fishysauz, a fish person from the Ocean Kingdom. Her body was lithe, athletic and with white and pink scales.

It gurgled and sputtered in a feminine voice and Chloe immediately knew what she had to do. With her super demon strength, she grasped but the fishysauz and Ramone in one strong arm, and sped across the waves to the anchor. "Rammy," she said. "Climb the chain!"

Ramone nodded and did just that. Chloe grabbed the unconcious fish person by her head fins and scaled the anchor. It was difficult climbing the anchor with one hand. "I cannot believe I'm investing all this energy into you saving these useless creatures!" Rosemary said wryly.

"Well..." Chloe smirked as she lifted herself further and further. "Without me, you'd be nothing but a useless demon eye, so I wouldn't talk so fast about useless creatures!"

Rosemary was silent, much to Chloe's relief and with her remaining strength, she pulled herself to the top and hurled the newfound fish person onto the deck.

"Aye?" Monica asked as she got a shivering Ramone and Chloe blankets from inside. "oo is this?"

The swordswomen looked down at the fishwoman. "Is this pez lady even alive?!"

"I dunno!" Chloe said, out of breath. "but let's get inside before we all get sick!"

In the warmth of the cabin, Monica and Chloe deposited the fishysauz onto the bed. As everyone gathered around the body of the fishy female, she suddenly choked and her eyes blinked open. They were the color of lapis lazuli and were quite beautiful and shining. They were filled with worry. "I don't know who you people are!" she said in a high, and slightly ditzy voice, "But you gotta listen to me. The whole Ocean Kingdom is in grave danger!"
