"Luckily for me, repugnante," Monica said with a sly wink. "This battle was over before it started. Prepare to fall in love!"
With a smell of aphrodisiac in the air, she sliced the shape of a heart and the aura drifted over the crowd. It was cast directly at Barnacle Barney who had no time to attack or even deflect. He merely rested his eye.
Other people clasped their hands in the crowd, rosy tints adorning their cheeks. And with such a range, the Loveblade had managed to infatuate half of the market square. Suddenly, fishysauz, sailors and civilians, both male and female were falling all over Monica telling her how beautiful she was. The only one who was unaffected was Captain Abacab.
"It didn't work on you?" Monica muttered. "Not that I wanted it to..."
"Aye lassy," the odd captain smirked. "My only true love, is flapjacks."
Monica rolled her eyes before turning them to Barnacle Barney. "What about this, barnacle head?"
Barnacle Barney opened his singular visible eye. It lacked the dilated quality of the allured. "Oh, beautiful wench of the land," he said with in icy lack of interest. "Now that I am a Demollusk, my blood runs cold towards anything that crawls on land. I tell you this in earnestness but I have not felt affection for anything but a sea cucumber since the days I've had this blighted affliction!"
"This sea freak is even weirder than I thought," Monica muttered. "But no matter, I will dispatch of you in the name of my leader, Chloe Cutlass!"
Barnacle Barney whipped out his broadsword where living barnacles oozed and pulsated on the tip of it. He brandished it with great skill, managing to lift it high in the air despite the extra attachments. "You would not believe some of the things crawling around on the bottom of the ocean floor," he sneered. "I've even added some of them to my sword. They will... Well I'll let you figure that out on your own."
Monica slashed her sword in the shape of an M. "I will not let that happen to me. Not again and not in my family name of Montero!"

Both sword wielders flew at each other, and when the blades contacted, there was a sound that resembled the squashing of a jelly like substance. Some of the extraneous, attached ocean life fell off onto the ground.
"I'd watch out if I were you," Barnacle Barney snickered. "My weapon has more range whenever you hit it. I don't mind parting with some of my ocean friends if it means hitting you!"
"Looks like I'm gonna have to corral you and your coral!" Monica said and she slashed away at more of the sea creatures.
Odd pink, lumpy things, of what they were she couldn't put her finger on, began to scuttle and inch themselves along the ground. "Ay dios mio," she screeched. "This is so gross!"
As the living barnacles made their way towards her feet, she tried to remain on her toes, avoiding both the slashing of the swordsman and disgusting pustules nipping at her toes
"Aye captain," Monica snapped as Abacab simply observed the battle. "Are you gonna help me?!"
Abacab lowered his beverage. He rasped angrily. "This barnacle riddled baddy has yet to see me at my full power! But now that I've chugged my caffeinated Yo-Ho I feel the strength (and sugar) rushing through my veins! Prepare to die, scab of the seas!"
And without warning, Captain Abacab removed his slipper on his one good leg and chucked it at Barnacle Barney's head. It bounced off harmlessly with a soft squeak.
"You idiot!" Monica screamed. "Not like that!"
Barnacle Barney slashed Monica's arm with his sword. She screamed in pain and she dropped her blade. It clattered harmlessly to the ground. Her arm was suddenly very itchy and she lifted up her sleeve to find that a patch of her tanned skin had turned a purple shade of indigo.
"Ah lucky you!" he said, a smirk creasing his face. "Seems you only got the Jellyfish Kiss! Don't expect to use that arm for a long time...if ever!"
He stomped forward with his slimy blade held over his head. "But you will get something much worse next time I slash you!"
He let around a ferocious howl and swung his sword over his head, but... he stopped. Several fishysauz and townsfolk had latched onto the barnacle man. "You leave our goddess Monica alone!" a pink tinted fishysauz cried in a feminine voice.
"We won't let you harm her!" an equally love lorn merchant shouted.
Captain Abacab quickly helped Monica to her feet. "Saved by the simpletons!" he said and together they attempted to flee. Unfortunately, countless hooded men appeared behind her, no doubt hiding other afflictions beneath their veils. Every one of them drew pistols or sabres and aimed directly at them.
Barnacle Barney managed to shake off the interlopers and point his sword at them. "Leave unless you want to be tossed in some fish human-stew!"
With sad looks in their lovestruck eyes, the hypnotised people left and went back to their business. "Now," Barney said shifting his eye to Monica and Abacab. "You're coming with me back to our home ship! Then I'll let my fearsome leader, Vinnie the Eel, deal with you!"
