GrimLore - wheel of decay

GrimLore - wheel of decay

The precisely defined rules for wheel of decay - an intuitive card game.

Definition of values:

- x,y,z are finite positive constant integer numeral values

- n is a finite positive integer numeral value defined by the initiator(s) of the game

- x,z,n are not 0

- changes in n after game start are subject to the rules for wheel of decay

- y < z

- n < (z-y)

- x > (z-y)

- symbols representing finite constant integer numeral values are referred to as 'numbers'

- all numbers used are known to the participants

- all defined rules are known to the participants

- all participants are theoretically able to follow the rules

- each card has two sides and one edge, it is not allowed to damage a card

- a stack is an array of card(s) that may only be changed according to the rules

- sides below the upper side of the top card of a stack are not allowed to be observed

- the rules are not subject to change by any participants

Required utensils for wheel of decay:

- x Cards with each having assigned:

- two numbers between or including y and z on one side of the card referred to as 'frontside'

- one number between or including y and z on the other side of the card referred to as 'backside'

Required entities for wheel of decay:

- n participants referred to as 'player'

- mechanism to enforce the rules onto players*

Required preparations for wheel of decay to start:

Aquire the required entities and requisites following the definition of values.

Turn each card onto the side with 1 number on it.

Sort all cards into stacks that have the same upper side.

These stacks are referred to as 'source stacks'

Each player draws 1 card from every source stack and keeps it for now.

The process of the first round of wheel of decay:

The initiator declares the game to have started after all the preparations have been made.

Each participant uses 1 of their cards to create a new stack containing only their card for now which is referred to as 'personal stack'.

The upper sides of cards lain on the personal stack always have 2 numbers on them each.

The player who has the highest number of all personal stacks begins.

If several players have the same highest number, the initiator decides which of them begins.

The beginning player chooses one source stack which has a number corresponding to one of the numbers read from the their personal stack. If no corresponding source stack is present, the begininng player decides which player will be the next beginning player, after that the current beginning player is killed permanently and is not allowed to continue to be a player.

If no player beside the current beginning player is remaining, the current beginning player is killed permanently and is not allowed to continue to be a player and the game ends.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

The currently active player then draws cards from the chosen source stack according to the number that was not used to choose the source stack. If the currently active player can not draw as many cards from the stack, the currently active player decides which player will be the next active player, after that the currently active player is killed permanently and is not allowed to continue to be a player.

If no player beside the currenty active player is remaining, the currenty active player is killed permanently and is not allowed to continue to be a player and the game ends.

If the currently active OR beginning player survive, they choose a player who will continue.

If no player beside the currenty active player OR beginning player is remaining, the currenty active player OR beginning player is killed permanently and is not allowed to continue to be a player and the game ends.

The continuing player does the same thing that the previous player did and if the continuing player survives, they choose a player that has not done so as well as the next active player.

If all surviving players have undergone the process, the first round of wheel of decay has ended.

The process of the remaining round of wheel of decay:

The player who started the last round is now the active player.

If the player who starte the last round has died, then the starting player is picked by the initiator.

They can either put 2, 1 or 0 of their cards onto their personal stack.

If they put 2 of their cards onto their personal stack, they get to choose the next active player which hasn't already put card(s) on their personal stack this round.

If they put 1 of their cards onto their personal stack, the rest of the round is treated like a first round of wheel of decay.

If they put 0 of their cards onto their personal stack, they get to choose the next active player which hasn't already put card(s) on their personal stack this round and are killed permanently and are not allowed to continue to be a player.

The game ends when there are no surviors.

Example of a game:

Source Stack 1 (1 Edge): Upper Card: 1

Source Stack 2 (1 Edge): Upper Card: 2

You draw 2 cards: (1)(1,1) and (2)(2,2)

As an Author I declare the game of wheel of decay to have started.

*Due to the magical nature of the world reading this suffices as mechanism. You are dead HA!

Wait I just read this, damn I have killed myself. Whoever is reading this, here are some survival tips. Do not play your first card before you want to die. Just don't.

I just have felt something. The nature of magic is forcing me to put down the card.

It took about ten minutes to build up that much force. Goodb-

You put down 1 card on your personal stack: (1,1)

Choose the number of the stack you want to pull from.

-phew I think I'll get to live for another ten minutes. I originally intended this as a memetic weapon to kill anyone who would read the following text. But I guess I will not write the following text. I could write a disclaimer - oh shit I can't. Rules are not subject to change by participants. Quick I need a different piece of pap-

You choose the number 1, but the stack is empty. You have to choose another player, but you are the only player. You are dead.
