I know I haven't had any updates in a while. Today is literally my first full free day since early January now that I'm done with grades for summer school. The main reason is that I feel like I've advancied the story too fast, much further than I was prepared to at any given time because I felt a sense of urgency to have regular releases. Entire story arcs were compressed into a single book. This made it difficult for me to concentrate on quality and I became obsessed with just trying to push out chapters on time. As a result, I overlooked things that could have made the story a lot better and I intend to look onto those mistakes. However, it also means that there will only be bulk releases of entire story arcs at once (not that I've posted anything in a while). Each book will be exactly one story arc in length for consistency. I'm not sure how long it is going to take, but I want to thank the people who did support me and the critics as well. I learned a lot and hopefully, the rewrite will show a massive improvement in quality. Some details below.

NOTE: I only have like 2 weeks of time to write between now and the start of the new school year, so I might not even be able to get the first book's rewrite done.

This time, it will be a Riley centric story told from first person. I am no longer going to pay as much attention to what everyone else is doing. There will be hints and signs, but first and foremost, it will be a Riley story. Think of it as an alternate timeline where Zedd trusts Riley from the very beginning and letting her run free, never causing Garnet to resurge or have their pesonalities meld and ultimately giving Riley more freedom to explore the world rather than be the only one who can save it. This will hopefully allow me to give the main character, Riley, more development rather than a focus on what is going on to the worlds as a whole. They will still be addressed, but at a much slower pace. I will integrate Frei (the blonde woman who is the true form of the dragon) as someone who is present and watching over Riley from the beginning, providing a balance to Zedd early on instead of having someone like Anna or Akiza show up later to provide a sense of balance. The story will ultimately come to the same conclusion, but I will be able to bring in the other things I had to leave out due to poor planning. This three that I had planned but never got to are: why Dark Mages also call themselves the Dark Mages when it was an identifcation that could get them killed, why Antium has similarities to Constantinople, and why the Guides choose to maintain the Black Spheres even after a failed Invasion (and why there are people to watch over them as well).

The "other worlds" will largely be ignored, focusing solely on what happens in the world that Riley is in with no traveling to others. The powerful spirits like Nian and Lotan will take on a greater presence in the story. 

Riley's powers will be based on touch. The absorption kind of came out of nowhere, but I will make it more clear from the beginning what Riley's powers are and the lack of limitations. Physical contact will trigger absorption and Riley will grow the more people she can touch. Instead of a staff of transformation, Riley will have something like Unlimited Blade Works, allowing her to create one weapon in her hands at a time and putting her soldier skills from her previous life and training to good use. By changing weapons, she in turn also changes classes (sort of).

The summons will be slime based rather than undead. Slimes have no form and can eventually take on forms based on what Riley has absorbed. The result is that her summons can transform. The reason for this is that the undead are either too weak or too strong with few inbetween and have very strict limitations. On the other hand, slimes, normally seen as the weakest enemy type in most RPGs can take on any form that Riley can, resulting in the ability to make copies that can be controlled.

There are others as well, but like I said, this is going to be a long rewriting process.
