Season 2 [Chapter 85: The Divination]

In his human form, Hyena Yokai is walking on a dark, outskirt city sidewalk with his hands tucked into his jacket pockets. He took out an id card with a picture of him smiling. Name written on the ID card: Nishiyama Tokunaga.

"I still have a promise with this dead person… I'll just make him my main identity. After all this human form is from him."

Hyena Yokai human form (Nishiyama), then keeps this id card back. Soon Nishiyama appeared to remember something; his expression then turned annoyed.

"Damn Association, they are really hunting me now. If it continues like this, it would be harmful or even dangerous for me. Until when is "he" just going to be quiet?"

Vehicles drove quite crowded on the highway beside Nishiyama. Not long after, Nishiyama stopped his steps and stood on the sidewalk on the side of the road. Nishiyama stopped a passing taxi not long after. The taxi stopped, and Nishiyama then got into it.

After some time, the time now shows 9:12 pm. The taxi where Nishiyama is, stopped in a quiet area on the outskirts of the forest. Seeing this unusual stop, the taxi driver looked doubtful.

“Isn't it wrong sir? You want to get off here?”

Nishiyama's expression changed to astonishment.

"Yes, is there a problem?"

The taxi driver shrugged his shoulders with a deadpan expression.

“Of course not, it's up to you sir. I'm only in charge of taken you to your desired destination.”

Nishiyama sighed, then gave travel expenses to the taxi driver. The driver opened the taxi door automatically; Nishiyama then got off the taxi. The taxi's door closed automatically, then drove away from here.

Now Nishiyama is left alone, standing on the sidewalk on the side of the road facing the forest's darkness with shady trees before him. However, Nishiyama walked into the forest before him and disappeared into the forest's darkness. In the forest, Nishiyama took out his smartphone from his jacket pocket, turned on the flashlight function, and lit up his surroundings. Nishiyama traced a dirt path with shady and dense trees around him. Nishiyama walked deeper into the forest, and before long, something happened.

Suddenly the fog began to cover this forest; the farther Nishiyama walked into the forest, the thicker the fog around him became so that his visibility continued to shorten. This was unusual at this time, but Nishiyama looked unaffected and kept on walking. Soon, Nishiyama felt that there was movement around him, and he then stopped his steps.

Nishiyama looked to his left, the branches of the trees were moving intensely as if a storm wind had hit them, but the trees were moving hard even though no wind was hitting them. On the ground around these trees, vines grow large roots that destroy the ground, whereas above these roots are followed by large trees that are curved in all directions with large tree trunks and leafy leaves. These strange trees grew, then shrank, and grew again rapidly, following the movements of the vines' roots destroying the ground earlier. When passing through the original forest trees, the roots also traveled down the trees here, and the moving trees entwined the forest trees.

Amidst this unusual phenomenon, there is a silhouette of a huge creature six meters tall, with eyes glowing red. Seeing that, Nishiyama's expression turned serious. The vines of roots and trees moved towards the front of Nishiyama, then approached him from the front. Before long, this tree and root vine opened, and moving sideways to the right and left, a huge unusual creature emerged from behind it with a height of six meters.

This creature has a head resembling a lion but with large canine teeth visible outside its mouth. His eyes were glowing red, with an expression that appeared angry. His chin had thick and long greenish-black hair like a beard down to the bottom of the neck and the sides of the neck to the chest. The top of Its head to the top of Its neck has black-green standing hair that grows up to the top of the back, which moves upwards like flames. On Its head, it has several large deer and dragon horns, and other horns also grow along its upper neck, but these horns, which grow in a row to its back, are getting smaller, with the largest and longest horns being on the head. Its body resembles a deer, with greenish-black embossed dragon scales like carvings on armor. Its four legs were like big horse legs with big hooves. The front parts of its four legs have additional silverish-black armor with sturdy carvings, and most of the chest also has additional silverish-black armor with solid carvings.

Its tail resembles a bull's long tail, which along this tail also has additional armor with sharp blackish-green carvings. This creature walked closer to Nishiyama, and after getting close enough, this creature stopped and stood on all fours in front of Nishiyama. Nishiyama's expression looked serious as he thought.

“He is Kirin, a Yokai known by the code name "Black Deer" who is the leader of an organization with the same name, containing unsealed Yokais as the members. He is known to the Yokai as the Protector Gods of the Yokais.”

Nishiyama bowed respectfully to this Yokai while saying.

"Kirin-sama, sorry to make you wait for me…."

Kirin replied.

"You don't have to be reluctant to me."

Nishiyama raised his head with a doubtful expression.

"I have decided on a first name for myself, Nishiyama."

Kirin looked interested.

"So, you chose the name of the human form's owner?"

Nishiyama nodded.

"Yes, and I still owe him…"

Kirin replied.

"You must pay that debt immediately, if you want to maintain your human form any longer, or you will run out of energy because of it."

Nishiyama replied.

"Yes, I will finish it…"

Nishiyama appeared to remember something; his expression turned bothered.

"Regarding the Yokai Controller Association, it seems they have been lured and hunting me now, though… I don't really like them hunting me."

Kirin replied.

“I understand, I promise your hard work will pay off.”

Nishiyama nodded. Before long, it appeared that something was also bothering Kirin.

"We have to get this over with soon. The dream came back to me again."

Nishiyama looked surprised.

"You mean the divination dream?"

Kirin's expression turned deadpan.

"Right, that dream keeps coming to me, now it feels like a nightmare."

Kirin's expression turned serious.

"He who was cursed, and he who was glorified will meet again… when that happens, not only humans will be in danger, but so will the Yokais."

Nishiyama's expression turned confused.

"I don't understand, is the person in your divination dreams a human, or a Yokai?"

Kirin replied.

"It was never clear to me... in the dream everything was hazy, and only a few details could be discerned."

Nishiyama nodded.

“I understand, what do I need to do next Kirin-sama?”

Kirin's expression turned serious.

“Maybe it's time you told our members to have a meeting to discuss the first plan.”

Nishiyama was slightly surprised, then bowed respectfully as he replied.

“I understand Kirin-sama.”

Nishiyama raised his head; his expression turned serious.

The current time is 4:30 pm. Suga was sitting in the back seat of his black sedan with Nellson sitting next to him and the driver driving as usual. Suga is reading his investigation document regarding the hyena Yokai to the point where he is lost in thought. Nellson, the size of an ordinary owl who sat beside him, looked curious and joined in reading the document.

“That Hyena Yokai has something unusual about the way he acts.”

Suga came to his sense and then turned towards Nellson.

“Something out of the ordinary?”

Nellson nodded.

"Not that I sympathize with him, but somehow he doesn't immediately kill his victim, and make him faint first."

Suga appeared to have just realized that.

"That's true... he could have just killed his victim and then taken him to another place."

Nelson nodded.

"But maybe this is just my feeling, because the actions of each Yokai have different behavior in hunting their victims."

Suga nodded; his expression showed that something was bothering him. The driver appeared to be watching them from the car's rearview mirror.

"How about Ken sir?"

Suga's attention turned to the driver, who saw him from behind.

"I already conveyed the invitation to join the association to him, just waiting to hear back from him."

The driver's expression turned serious.

“Hopefully there is no risk in this action.”

Suga closed his eyes briefly, smiled, then opened them again.

"I hope so too. But now that I think about it, I seem to be able to settle down quite a bit now. After all, the Association should think about their actions in the long term under these circumstances."
