Suga appeared to remember something.
"By the way, do you know about Kagohara village?"
The man's expression turned confused, indicating that he was not familiar with the word.
"Perhaps you mean Kagohara town?"
Suga smiled.
"It's okay if you don't know, thank you."
Suga paid for his shopping items and took them out of the shop. The shop owner bowed politely as he said.
“Thank you; please come back again.”
Outside the store, Suga strapped his shopping items to the bicycle back seat and rode his bicycle. Nellson flew and entered the bicycle's front basket; Suga then pedaled away from here.
On the way back to the inn, Suga ran into several high school students in the town who saw Suga with a slightly surprised expression. Not long after, Suga ran into Ishikari, who was walking with her female friend. Seeing Ishikari, Suga stopped his bicycle. Ishikari looked at Suga, who was carrying some camping gear on his bicycle, with an astonished expression.
"Hisoka san?"
Ishikari’s female friend, standing beside her, looked a little surprised that Suga and Ishikari knew each other.
"You know him?"
Ishikari turned towards her friend and nodded. Suga smiled.
“I didn't expect to meet you here. By the way, you can call me Suga."
Ishikari looked a little awkward. On the other hand, Ishikari’s friend's attention was on Nellson, her expression turning astonished.
“What a unique owl...”
Suga smiled.
"He is my pet owl, Nellson, who likes to do cosplay."
Ishikari smiled and stroked Nellson's head and looked slightly surprised. Ishikari then rubbed Nellson's back, making Nellson look at her in astonishment.
"This costume feels so real, like the real thing."
Hearing that, Ishikari's friend also wanted to stroke Nellson too. Suga was surprised; he immediately blocked Ishikari and her female friend's actions by standing between them and Nellson.
"Nellson's costume is easy to damage; please don't touch it too much, hahaha."
Suga laughed awkwardly, making Ishikari’s and her friend’s expressions turn slightly surprised. Ishikari's attention was drawn to the camping gear attached to Suga's bicycle.
"You bought camping equipment?"
Suga nodded.
"Yes, I plan to camp tonight."
Ishikari’s and her friend’s expressions turned astonished. Suga smiled awkwardly.
"To enjoy the night sky view, it must be very beautiful."
Something appeared to be bothering Ishikari.
"Camping at night is not a good idea, Suga."
Suga was a little surprised, then smiled.
“You don’t need to worry about that.”
Ishikari nodded, and the female friend next to her looked surprised. Suga appeared to remember something.
“By the way, did you see anything unusual today?”
Ishikari’s female friend looked confused, while Ishikari understood what Suga meant.
“Nothing today.”
Suga smiled and nodded.
“Okay then, just call me if you see something unusual, and I suggest you don’t go out at night.”
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
Ishikari nodded. Suga resumed talking.
“Then I’ll excuse myself.”
Suga pedaled his bicycle away from here. Ishikari and her friend then also walked away from here. Ishikari’s friend said.
“I’ve never seen him before?”
Ishikari nodded.
“Because he’s not from this town.”
Ishikari’s friend nodded. On the other hand, it appeared that something was bothering Ishikari.
The time is 7:00 pm. Suga is finishing dinner and packing his camping equipments. Suga wears a black shirt tucked in with the top button open, black trousers with a belt, black boots, and a white Yokai Controllers Association overcoat with a black stripe pattern. Suga walked out of the inn carrying a bedroll and backpack containing several items he needed and his black katana Yokai weapon. Suga got on his bicycle, Nellson got into the basket in front of the bicycle, and Suga then pedaled his bicycle away from here. Suga arrived at an area where the road was blocked, then parked his bicycle in the bicycle parking slots at a bus stop close to the Kagohara town entrance road. Suga confirmed that there were no people around, and the surroundings were quiet because it was on the town’s outskirts.
“Okay, Nellson. We fly there from here.”
Nellson nodded. Black smoke began to billow from all over Nellson’s body and then enveloped him. From behind the black smoke, Nellson reappeared, two meters tall. Nellson took off then flew towards Suga, grabbed the armor on Suga’s back, and took Suga flying with him.
They flew through the forest area and arrived near the fire lookout tower they had visited before. Suga landed steadily near this tower, Nellson landed not far behind him. Suga turned on the flashlight and then walked up the stairs. Black smoke billowed from all over Nellson’s body and enveloped him. From behind the black smoke, Nellson reappeared with his body size only the size of an owl in general, then flew upwards first. Suga arrived at the entrance to the surveillance room, Nellson was waiting for him while perched on the railing nearby. Suga entered the room and put his luggage on the table in the middle of the room. Suga took out a lantern-shaped lamp from his bag and lit it on the table, lighting the room dimly. Nellson flew into the room, then landed on the table.
“You think we’ll find something tonight?”
Suga turned to Nellson.
“If a sane person made the log notes in that book, I should also have heard the whispers and strange events he was referring to.”
Nellson nodded.
The time now is 9:00 pm. The night sky looked clear and slightly cloudy, and the atmosphere was not too dark because of the not full moonlight. Suga was in front of the surveillance room, sitting cross-legged and watching news programs on his smartphone. The news program Suga watched was about Black Star, which was seen in one part of the United States attacking a skyscraper that was smoking and destroyed in many parts. The destroyed parts were large heavy weapons such as missile launchers, rotary cannons, cannons, railguns, and some large rooms resembling an empty aircraft hangar. The headline news title was: “Black Star attacks a skyscraper that turns out to be a heavily armed fortress.” A female newscaster said.
“At approximately 1:00 pm local time, Black Star attacked a skyscraper, later confirmed as a fortress in disguise. Until now, the exact owner of this skyscraper is not yet known unless a fictitious company is the owner. The police, FBI, and SWAT units are on strict guard and prohibit all documentation inside the building. There are no exact figures for the number of victims of this incident and the motive for Black Star carrying out the attack. It was also confirmed that Black Star carried out this attack alone without using any of his space battle fleet.”
Suga watched this news program with an astonished expression. Nellson flew over, landed next to Suga, and watched this news program.
“Black Star seems to be busy, or maybe keep other people busy?”
Suga’s expression looked deadpan.
“Everyone has their own business.”
Suga and Nellson continued watching.
The time now is 10:00 pm. Suga is standing while leaning forward on the tower’s balcony railing, looking at the view of the wilderness before him. Nellson perched on the railing near Suga and watched the surroundings. Suga’s expression looked bored.
“This is starting to get boring.”
Nellson nodded.
“Perhaps this tower officer was indeed delirious, and what he saw was probably just a dream or something.”
Suga nodded and walked into the surveillance room; Nellson then flew after him.
Inside the room, Suga sat in front of the radio communication devices while reading his investigation documents. Suga saw photos taken by Hideyuki during an investigation in Kagohara village. Blurred photos of hospital buildings, swamps, etc. Suga’s attention was drawn to the blurry photos.
“Why are these photos blurry? There’s no way Hideyuki didn’t notice?”
Nellson also saw the photos Suga was referring to and tried to sort each photo.
“As if he gets closer to the village, the photos taken become increasingly blurry for some reason.”
Suga’s expression turned astonished. Not long after, something unexpected happened. The radio communication device in this room suddenly made an indistinct sound.
“Ca…..ou…..he...ar...”
This made Suga and Nellson a little surprised. Nellson’s expression turned astonished.
“Am I imagining things, or did the radio device suddenly sounded?”
Suga’s expression turned surprised; he then checked the radio device. Suga checks if this device is indeed connected to electricity.
Not long after, Suga realized something; his attention was focused on the wilderness before him. The thick blackish-white fog began to envelop this forest, even reaching the top of the fire lookout tower. Suga looked around him, and now all he saw was thick blackish-white fog.
“What happened....”
Suga suddenly felt pain in his head; he then held his forehead with his right hand and frowned. The color of Suga's irises, originally dark brown, changed to dark red and glowed dimly. Suga also felt a strange feeling, like some kind of bad feeling.
Suga’s sight then went blind again, even though his fate swap technique with Nellson is still active. In his view, which was only dark because he was blind, Suga thought.
“What is this familiar feeling? Like I’ve experienced it before....”
Soon, Suga could normally see again. Nellson saw Suga in pain from the side.
“What’s wrong, Suga?”
Suga turned to Nellson, but his eyes color had returned to normal, and his head didn’t hurt anymore.
“I’m fine, maybe because of lack of sleep.”
Nellson looked at Suga curiously.
