Being held at spear-point by Sky, Bee led his two friends towards the place where he saw the ruins. Amusingly enough, the ruins were actually below them inside a cave that wasn’t obscured by anything. It was a wonder how Sky and Jin hadn’t come upon this place by themselves when it was out in the open like this.
“What the heck, it was right under us and we never came across this place?” Sky said.
To her remark, her friend, Jin kicked Bee in the ass before saying, “It’s because this idiot already searched this place for us and didn’t bother telling us it was there!”
“H-Hey, in my defense, I didn’t think it was relevant! It’s literally just a small cave with a few murals on it and a broken-down structure!”
“This is a clue, Bee! A clue! Next time, just report anything you find, alright?”
“Okay, okay. No need to chew me out like this. It’s my bad, it’s my bad…”
“Well, enough with the arguing. Since we found a clue to the lost city, let’s go exploring,” Sky said as she stopped her two friends from their bickering.
“Well, you’re going to be disappointed…” Bee said as he scratched his head and led them into the cave.
Just like Bee said, it was a rather disappointing cave. Other than the size not being as small as the two girls imagined, there was nothing in here except a few unintelligible murals carved on the walls that depicted some kind of battle and at the center of the cave was a ruined structure that seemed to be the remnant of what was once a temple of sorts. Although Bee and Jin couldn’t see anything special about the place, Sky was able to since she was the main holder of the quest so she had received clues from the quest givers about the markings that she needed to take note of that would show her that the place she found was the place she was looking for.
She saw that one of the murals had a serpent coiling around what appeared to be a sun or a moon. This was the sigil of the Janu’shtis, a cult of underwater dwellers that worshipped a serpent creature that held a status close to Gaia as it was birthed at the same time Gaia came into being, making it a demi-god. Naturally, this serpent creature was only able to reign for a little while before the Gods and Celestials’ battle eventually made its way to its domain.
Sky compared the sigil with the drawing she received from her quest givers that acted as a hint and saw that it was practically the same.
“Nice, this is the place!” She exclaimed.
“What, really?” Bee asked with a rather puzzled look on his face.
“Yup, and if I’m not wrong, the lost city is right underneath this place!”
“Huh?”
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
“This ‘cave’ isn’t actually a cave. From the inside structure, this should be something like a temple. In other words, a building.”
“And?”
“A temple naturally has a few levels and we’re probably at the highest level right now. All we have to do is get beneath this level and we’ll be able to find the rest of the city,” Sky explained to her clueless friend who just loved asking questions.
Jin didn’t need to listen to Sky’s explanation as she already understood the moment she said it was a temple so she had begun looking around the cave for an entrance to the lower levels of the ruins but unfortunately, she found no staircases anywhere. She returned to her two friends and asked, “I don’t see any staircases so how do we get down?”
“If there are no stairs… then we make our own,” Sky answered.
“Our own? Ohhh!”
Seeing that her friend understood, Sky took out her spears and Jin took out her mace. Even though she was a mage, Jin rather liked attacking her enemies head-on. Bee was the only one among the 3 who didn’t know what was happening. Well, he only did have muscles for brains anyway. Without knowing what was going on, Bee just watched as the girls began slamming their weapons down on the ground.
“Woah, Woah, the heck are you two doing? Are you trying to destroy this place?”
“You don’t say, Captain Obvious? Now get off your ass and help us out! You’ve got the most STR stat among us so hurry!” Jin quipped at him.
“I don’t know what’s going on but ‘Destroy’ is my middle name.”
Bee took out his weapon, a large spiked iron ball, and a chain with a dagger attached to the end of the chain, and began whirling the spiked ball above his head before he yelled, “Out of the way ladies!”
Sky and Jin quickly moved away and once they did, Bee immediately swung the chain down and along with it the iron ball. It slammed ferociously into the ground causing the entire cave to quake as rock and debris were flung everywhere. One of them nearly hit Bee but Sky quickly reacted and pulled him out of harm’s way.
“T-Thanks!”
“No probs, but you could just attack the ground normally and not use your [Earthquake] skill. Talk about a waste of mana…”
“Oh, come on. There’s no excitement in that!”
Once the dust cleared, the 3 could see that a large hole was made on the ground where Bee’s skill had struck. Just like Sky had explained, there really was a floor underneath the cave they were in.
“Ah, that’s so cool!”
Bee immediately began swimming towards the hole and the two girls followed after him closely.
“Bee, be careful! Keep your guard up. We don’t know what’s down there!”
“Gotcha!”
Bee was normally a happy-go-lucky and ignorant type of guy but when things become serious, he too would become serious and drop his playful manner. He held his weapon at the ready as he swam down the hole cautiously. Without any warning, he immediately pulled on his chain and brought the iron ball of his weapon in front of him, blocking whatever that had lashed out and suddenly attacked him.
Sky, who was behind him, was able to see that a tentacle had lashed out from the darkness. She immediately grimaced because she knew what that thing was.
“There’s something down here!” Bee yelled.
“Yeah, we saw it!” Jin replied.
Sky immediately cast a few spells and enchanted Bee and Jin’s weapons as well as her own before yelling, “Get ready! It’s probably the guardian!”
“The Guardian?”
“Yeah, it’s a―”
“Holy shit, it’s a Kraken!” Bee cut her off and screamed.
“Yup...a Kraken.”
“Oh, crap…”
A large monstrosity suddenly began emerging from the darkness. The trio had to hurriedly swim back out of the cave which was destroyed in the next instant as the creature made its way out from underneath its dwelling. What emerged was naturally a Kraken. It was previously in a deep state of slumber when suddenly, the entrance of the place it was guarding had been attacked and breached.
Naturally, it was going to deal with the intruders but Sky was already prepared for it as she immediately summoned two Charybdis.
“W-We’re fighting that thing?” Bee meekly asked.
“Oh, what’s wrong Mr. My-middle-name-is-destroy? Got cold feet?” Jin teased.
“N-No! But there’s no way I’m tanking that thing! Its STR stat is impossibly higher than mine!”
“Get into gear guys, that thing’s coming!” Sky yelled in warning.
