Maria read the description a few times over and tried activating the statue since she thought the area where the [Veil of Darkness] was applied would be a good training ground for her when she wanted to sharpen her other senses besides vision. However, it clearly said that it was unusable so she was only being a bit stubborn by trying to activate it. Maria sighed and said, “Why the heck did the game allow me to take this broken thing? I can’t even use it―Oh, crap!”
She accidentally fumbled with the statue when she tried putting it back into her inventory. She quickly tried to grab it before it fell to the ground and broke but it was a mistake. The item description clearly said that it was extremely fragile so when Maria tried to grab it, she broke it instead.
“W-What the heck?!”
She hadn’t even use too much force when grabbing the item after remembering the ‘extremely fragile’ description but it still broke anyway.
“A-Are you kidding me?!”
Maria wanted to curse real bad but her complaining was cut short because after the statue was broken into pieces, black smoke began to pour out of the broken pieces and started to gather together in the air. When she saw this, Maria quickly took a few steps back before pulling out her Calamity and waited to see what would happen now that she broke the statue. Alexa similarly did the same when she saw her big sis getting ready for battle.
Once all of the smoke gathered in the air, it began forming into a humanoid shape and solidified. The solidified form began to gain some color to it and Maria noticed that it was the Mesutri Queen from before, however, this Mesutri Queen seemed a little different. Unlike the one Maria fought earlier, this one had a long mouse tail and was holding two large rings. The ‘Mesutri Queen’ looked around before letting loose a peal of howl-like laughter.
“HAHAHAHAHA! I’m finally free!”
*DING*
You have released the malevolent spirit, Raiju, from its confines. Please beware!
“Oh, another fight!” Maria read the notification and quickly said with delight.
The notification didn’t say anything about a fight but that was what Maria interpreted the latter half of the message. She quickly got into a fighting stance and didn’t wait for Raiju to prepare herself as Maria prepared to take the first strike.
“Sa―”
Raiju turned towards Maria and was about to say something but the latter had immediately rushed forward with her Calamity held behind her and she swung down her weapon right on the malevolent spirit’s head. She quickly raised the rings in her hands which were actually her weapons, twin chakrams, and blocked Maria’s attack. If it wasn’t because Maria was trying to probe her opponent’s stats, she wouldn’t have held back and crushed Raiju into the ground for daring to block her attack.

“W-Wait!”
“I don’t think so!”
Maria had taken notice that Raiju’s level was [???] which meant that she was more than 50 levels higher than her. She needed to take this battle seriously and not give the spirit any grounds to launch a counterattack. Raiju was just about to address the person who had freed her and was going to entice the person into becoming her servant after ‘rewarding’ her but she didn’t expect Maria to suddenly attack her out of nowhere.
“T-This crazy, bitch!”
“How dare you insult my big sis!”
“What the?”
It was a mistake that Raiju called Maria a bitch, especially since Alexa was close by to listen to her. The vampire couldn’t tolerate any form of slight towards her big sister and calling her a bitch had gone way past the line. Although it was out of line for her to cut into her big sister’s battle, Alexa’s anger had overcome her sense of reason and she rushed in with her ax and cleaved down on Raiju’s head, intending to split it apart like a watermelon.
“How dare this little―!”
Maria didn’t pay any mind to Alexa’s interference so she didn’t tell her to back down. Instead, she too was angered at the way Raiju insulted her earlier and worked together with Alexa in this fight. Since Alexa had been learning and studying Maria’s battle style, the two were able to seamlessly work together as they knew what moves they would make.
“U-Ugh!”
Raiju was being pushed back and Maria started increasing her speed and strength. She was almost done probing the former’s stats and was about to go on the offensive. It was the first time Maria was cooperating with someone who knew her battle style so well that she felt even more appreciative of Alexa. The little vampire girl would rush in at just the right times that their combo didn’t stop as their attacks weaved together to form a torrential rain of strikes that constantly pushed back Raiju.
Alexa’s stats were definitely much lower than Raiju’s stats but her attacks were working since she was cooperating with Maria.
“D-Dammit! Alright, that does it! I tried playing nice but―”
Maria heard Raiju’s words and immediately pulled out her Zantetsu-R and ordered, “Alexa, fall back!”
“Yes, big sis!”
Seeing that Maria had changed her Calamity to its sword form, Alexa immediately picked up her intent. She was now going to go serious and change her battle style. Since she didn’t know too much about her big sister’s new battle style, Alexa fell back and began to observe. Raiju’s words were cut off earlier because Maria had suddenly increased the power behind her strikes and was forced to put more effort into blocking her attacks that had suddenly turned so heavy.
“Y-You were holding back?!”
“I’ve seen enough, you’re high-leveled and probably weakened or something but you’re not a match for me in your current state.”
“Kugh…”
“Now, please die.”
Maria rushed forward using [Odin’s Swordsmanship] and began overwhelming Raiju to the point where she couldn’t even do anything at all now. Earlier, Maria had adjusted her strength to probe the latter’s stats and to sync up with Alexa’s attacks, but now that she did not need to hold back, she unleashed all of her strength. Raiju had just been released from her seal so she was likely weakened and Maria was right about that. Her current level was 225 which was numerous levels higher than Maria and was even close to the latter's vampire subordinate, Carmilla, who was level 275.
Ash was level 150 now so Raiju was much higher leveled than him but she probably wouldn’t be able to defeat Ash who was slowly reawakening his powers since she was in a weakened state. Right now in her weakened state, Raiju’s stats were weakened to the level that was only a third of her actual stats. Against an overpowered Maria who was dead set on killing her and no longer holding back, there was no way she could win.
‘D-Dammit, this mortal, she found out my weakness so quickly!’
Raiju had wanted to entice Maria into becoming her servant so that she could use her as protection until she was back to her prime form and reward her with a blessing, depending on her performance or kill her if she was annoying during the quest. She didn’t expect to be suddenly attacked right from the get-go. Normally, people would be curious and ask questions first before pulling out their weapons. Maria was an exception to that because her first thoughts would be to attack if something with a ‘Warning Label’ inside of the game appeared before her.
Asking questions when something was obviously bad was just plain stupid so Maria opted to just strike preemptively without waiting for the ‘bad guy’ to power up. However, in this situation, Maria was more of the bad guy as she laughed, mocked, and tortured her opponent with her attacks and words.
“Come on, mousey! You can’t possibly be this weak?!”
“D-Damn you!”
“Keep cursing at me, it’s not going to save you!”
“Ahhh!!!”
*DING*
Malevolent Spirit, Raiju, has recovered a little bit of her power!
“Hm?”
A peal of thunder flashed in the sky before it descended onto Raiju and pushed away Maria a few meters back while shocking her to some degree. She shook off the slight paralyzing effects and looked up at her opponent. She noticed that the spirit’s two chakrams were wrapped in lightning and it was better to describe Raiju as a malevolent lightning spirit now as flashes of lightning would suddenly appear around her body.
“Mortal, you dare to push me this far! Face my wrath and―”
Raiju’s words were cut off again as she had to raise her weapons up to defend herself from Maria who had suddenly appeared in front of her after leaving behind a sonic boom in her wake.
“Shut up already and fight! At least make this a little more interesting for me before I kill you!”
“Why you little…”
