Lizzy tried to run away immediately when she recognized that the being in front of her was a ghost. Her abhorrent fear of the supernatural didn’t leave her even inside the game. However, she was blocked by yet another barrier and was reflected back to the revenant that had materialized from the pendant.
“Child, do not fear…”
“!”
Lizzy quickly got up and backed away with her greatswords held aloft. If anyone else was there, they’d be able to see how pale her face had become and the cold sweat that was dripping from her face as she trembled a little in fear.
“W-W-What do you want?”
“...You have released my brothers from the undead curse that has befallen them. For that I thank you.”
“...”
“You were also able to learn the skill of my kin so that means you are our next successor.”
“...Are you a dragon?”
“The ghost of one, yes.”

Lizzy took a deep breath and shelved her fear the best she could before saying, “Okay, let’s hear your story.”
The ghost smiled at Lizzy and said, “Splendid. How about instead of telling you, I’ll show you my story.”
Before Lizzy could react, the ghost suddenly appeared in front of her and placed a palm on top of her head. She soon lost consciousness as Viorva’s ghost pulled her into a dreamscape. When Lizzy woke up, she quickly stood up from the ground as she shook her head and noticed that a young man with light green scales and markings on his face was standing next to her. This young man had 4 draconic wings on his back and his eyes were similar to hers, having slits in them like a dragon. He was taller than her and was wearing a rather familiar-looking robe. After a short moment, Lizzy couldn’t help but realize that this young man was the living form of the ghost that she had just been talking to earlier.

“Are you the Tempest Dragon King?”
The young man smiled and said, “Yes, but for you, Successor, please just call me Viorva.”
“Okay… but where are we? What did you do to me?”
“I pulled you into my dreamscape. Don’t worry, your body is only asleep and nothing will happen to you.”
Lizzy nodded slightly before looking around and seeing that she was on top of a cliff overlooking a canyon. The canyon was full of life and she could see green-colored dragons of various hues, shapes, and sizes flying through the air, walking on the ground, or just sleeping around.
Viorva began talking about the beings that lived down there and Lizzy was told that all of them were the long-extinct Tempest Dragons. There were a few humanoids among these dragons which puzzled her before she took a look at Viorva and realized that they were like him, powerful dragons that learned how to shapeshift into humanoid form. This canyon was the Tempest Dragon Canyon, the home of the Tempest Dragons, the place she was currently in outside of this dreamscape. However, unlike the canyon she had passed through in reality, this dreamscape canyon was teeming with life and activity.
“This is the Tempest Dragon Canyon, right?” Lizzy asked for confirmation.
“It is...or, it was.”
“What happened?”
“The fall of the Elemental Dragons wasn’t a natural occurrence. We were the most powerful beings on the planet so nothing could threaten us but we were peaceful and kept to ourselves despite our strength and status. All of that changed when the Elemental Disaster happened,” Viorva said with a sad look on his face.
Lizzy continued observing the canyon for a little while longer before turning to Viorva and asking, “Did this disaster wipe out all of the dragons on Eur?”
“Yes, that event ended all of the people of my dragon race.”
Viorva waved his hand and the scenery in the canyon changed as it was replaced with an appalling scene of the peaceful Tempest Dragons being massacred by weird glowing creatures that seemed to be made of light.
“What are those things?” Lizzy asked.
Viorva’s answer to her question was quite unexpected, “I do not know…”
“Huh?”
“A large number of them suddenly appeared out of nowhere and began attacking us. The attack happened quickly and simultaneously on all of the Elemental Dragon races, giving us no time to learn about our enemy or group up to form a defense or counterattack against them.”
It was a little unbelievable but the scene in front of her just showed the Tempest Dragons being one-sidedly massacred. A few of the more powerful ones managed to stay alive and retaliate but they soon died as well. Dragons were the symbol of absolute magic and power. If they were wiped out like this, Lizzy could only imagine just how powerful their opponents were.
“You all just died like that?”
“We put up a struggle, but obviously, it wasn’t enough so, in the end, we only delayed the inevitable.”
“...”
“We did destroy a large majority of them but compared to our losses…”
Viorva had a neutral look on his face but Lizzy could see the anguish in his eyes. The Dragon King shook his head before saying, “Even until we all fell, no one, not even the 7 Dragon Kings, knew who our enemies were and where they came from.”
Lizzy could see where this is going so she quickly asked, “Are you going to tell me to look for the ones behind the massacre?”
Contrary to her expectations, Viorva answered with a negative, “I will not ask our Dragon Race’s successor to investigate the identities of these creatures. I do not want you to seek trouble or put you in harm’s way before you fully develop and inherit all of my race’s capabilities. I only showed you this to let you know a little bit about us Tempest Dragons.”
“O-Oh...I see…”
Viorva wiped the tragic scene and returned it to the peaceful one from earlier before saying to Lizzy,
“You have already learned the skill, [Dragon Claw], and overcame the trial that was set upon you so I will impart to you what remains of my power as a reward.”

“Yes, and once you absorb my energy, you will receive the Tempest Dragon’s blessing along with the coordinates of the other Dragon race species’ homes.”
“Okay…”
“Seek them out if you wish to know more about our race and learn our abilities. I do not know the full story behind our extinction. Perhaps the other Dragon Kings may know. If you are curious, you may ask them.”
