Chapter 130 - Clearing Things Up

It was the first time Maria had cursed in her whole life and after ending the stream in such a way, she started feeling a bit remorseful for what she said. She asked David to turn it into a member’s only stream while permanently changing the chat to a member’s only chat before restarting the stream.

This way, the toxic people on the net would have to pay to be toxic to her. It was such a funny thought because, after today, she would just ignore all of that, and those that continued to hate her, they’d have to pay to bash her while she was streaming.

She didn’t worry too much about the impact this may have on her stream because it wasn’t like she absolutely needed to do this since the reason she streamed was that she found it interesting.

She wasn’t going to allow some random people on the internet to ruin her gaming experience and if she really had to, she could just drop streaming altogether and just play the game as she did before.

It wasn’t like stopping her streams was going to make her lose sleep at night. Maria would only look back on this moment in life as a rather interesting experience though she won’t deny that it’d be a regrettable thing to do.

After returning from completing her Ascension Quest, Death had teleported back to her throne room.

Only a few hours had passed since she was whisked away to do her quest so she didn’t miss anything.

Once she finished scrolling through the rewards she acquired from the quest and read through the information about her newly Awakened race features, she restarted her stream.

Now that only her usual audience was watching, Maria was finally able to have a more relaxing moment. Scrolling through the chat, she only saw people asking about how she was and not a single toxic comment about her video.

The regulars knew how Maria played and how she treated her NPC subordinates. Other than Ash, Maria treated everyone as she would a person and was a kind Goddess that everyone in the Dire appreciated and worshipped.

Though the goddess part, Maria thought was a bit over the top. That was the only thing she was a bit uncomfortable with but there was nothing she could do about it.

This time’s stream, she only chatted with her viewers while lightly touching on the topic of her newest video. She showed her viewers clips of the quest that wasn’t in the video and they understood even more why Maria did what she had to do in the video.

RandomJoe21: Just look at those penalties! Never mind the decrease in levels, our angel wouldn’t be able to play UT for a few days! Ange_3: Those people have no right to criticize you anyway! They are just salty! Angel’s-No.1-Fan: Ignore those idiots! ... ... ...

Maria replied to as many of her viewers as she could before she stopped them from further discussing any topics about the video. With the Second World on the brink of being unlocked, this was the topic that Maria wanted to discuss with her viewers because they were now closer to arriving at her world.

“With the Second World about to be unlocked, everyone’s getting closer and closer to being able to meet me!”

“I know, I know, but don’t expect to be gaining any special privileges. If you want to enter the Dire, you’ll have to go through a strict screening!”

She continued to talk with her viewers for a while before ending the stream on a good note. Maria scheduled a hunting stream the next day to show her viewers the rewards she received from the Apocalypse Quest.

“Your Grace, you’ve returned,” Ash entered the throne room after Maria called for him and knelt in reverence.

He could feel that his Queen had become much stronger than before and he was right about that.

Ever since Maria had completed her Ascension Quest, she was feeling full of power and many of her physical features had changed.

All 3 pairs of her wings had grown large and another pair had sprouted from her back already, making this her fourth pair. She was now an 8-winged Fallen Angel and her race had changed from Fallen Angel to Fallen Ophanim.

She didn’t understand what that entailed yet but she did remember about her Angel’s League menu that showed her the congregation of her race’s status and ranks. If she was a normal angel player, she would be turning to this menu to receive daily and weekly quests to complete so that she could increase her ‘Faith’ stat, a stat that she no longer had.

The Faith stat had been replaced by Taint when she had ‘Fallen’ and she didn’t need any sort of quest to raise it. All she needed to do was constantly use her [Angel’s Rage] skill and it would rise quite quickly by itself since it was a skill she always used in combat.

This caused her Angel’s League menu to be useless to her so unless there was a league of fallen angels, this menu was obsolete and unneeded to her, however, after her recent destruction of a planet, something new had appeared on that particular menu.

System notification! You have committed crimes against the Heavenly Order. You will be placed on the League’s Wanted List so assassins may come after your life. Please beware!

“This is new...now I’m a wanted person?”

Maria wasn’t afraid of this Heavenly Order or whatever. If they sent people to kill her, then they were the enemy no matter how righteous their name sounded.

“It doesn’t matter what the Heavenly Order is, if they send people to kill me, I’ll kill as many of those they send and gift wrap their people’s heads before returning them.”

She was tired of this bullshit about her actions. She was already getting enough of it in real life, she didn’t need any more of it in the game. If the Heavenly Order was condemning her for what she did to an already dying planet, then they were just like those self-righteous bastards in real life.

“Whatever, I won’t lose sleep even if they send people to try and kill me. I have 2 of the strongest vampires in my ranks and an entire faction that would kill for me if I ask them to!”

Maria stood up from her throne and flew out of her castle. Since she finally had free time, she needed to go out and vent her emotions on some monsters.

Lilah was relieved of her duties since Carmilla had arrived and taken over her job so she was now free to accompany her Master again. It had been a long time since they were able to go on an outing for just the two of them.

Lilah relished in her newly regained freedom and helped Maria hunt down a plethora of monsters that day. Everything went so easy as the monsters were cut down like vegetables in front of Maria’s Calamity. It was to the point where she thought that everything seemed a little too easy. When their hunting session finished, Maria finally noticed something quite wrong with her stats once she checked them.

“...Wait...When did they increase this much?!”

Maria didn’t remember what her previous stats looked like but she was certain that everything had at least doubled. She didn’t know what caused this and when she tried finding it, she couldn’t come up with anything.

“It probably has something to do with the Awakening after I completed the quest…” Maria thought hard for a moment before remembering the rewards she got from the quests. “Speaking about the Ascension Quest… I should probably look at the rewards. I remember getting a new Skillbook and a Calamity upgrade item.”

Maria quickly opened her inventory and took out the golden skill book: [Unholy] and the [Calamity Upgrade Stone].

“Let’s learn [Unholy] first.”

She tapped the book on herself and learned the skill immediately.

Skill Name: Unholy Rank: Mythic Description: Unleashes a bomb of unattributed energy within a certain space, cursing anyone within it to damnation!

Effect 1 - Unholy Demise:

Deals a total of ([INT]*(x)%) [Pure Damage] across a [100 x 100] meter area. DMG is spread randomly throughout all targets within the area.

Channel time: 10 seconds

(X = number of targets within the area upon activation multiplied by 100)

Effect 2 - Unholy Affliction:

Inflicts multiple random debuffs on all surviving targets within the area of effect for 20 seconds

Effect 3 - Unholy Raise:

50% chance to [Raise] dead targets to fight for you for 30 seconds

HP Cost: 25% of total HP

MP Cost: 25% of total MP

Cooldown: 5 minutes

“Woah...that’s one powerful skill…”

Maria calculated the damage she would deal to be quite underwhelming if it was against a single person, but the skill’s damage scaled on the number of people within the area of activation so it was an Anti-Army kind of skill.

Also, it dealt [Pure Damage] and inflicted random debuffs while also raising the dead to fight for her. If she didn’t use it for its destructive capabilities, then the auxiliary effects were already good enough for her to use it in any kind of situation.

She needed to test out the spell’s exact effects before being able to determine its usability, so she might as well save that for later. The next item on the list was the [Calamity Upgrade Stone Alpha].

Maria brought the stone close to her Calamity and a system prompt immediately appeared.

Would you like to use the [Calamity Upgrade Stone Epsilon] to enhance [Calamity]? Y/N

There was no hesitation as Maria quickly tapped on the [YES]. Once she tapped it, a few numbers popped up in front of her, ranging from 20 to 70. Obviously, Maria chose the highest number though she didn’t understand what it meant.

“70, I guess?”

Maria tapped on the number before the Upgrade Stone in her hand melted and combined with her Calamity. Once the process was finished and the upgrade was successful, a system prompt immediately appeared.

The Great Calamity of the ancient era has once again descended onto the mortal plane and it demands its chaotic offerings!

Maria blinked her eyes a few times in disbelief upon seeing the ridiculous stats that her weapon gave her. She was envious of the items the players on the forums and equipment leaderboards flaunted.

The equipment gave so many stats that it was mind-boggling to her because all of her stats relied heavily on the base stats she gained from leveling. Other players had their attributes enhanced by their equipment while only Maria was the exception.

Of course, she acquired a lot of good armor and accessories from her quests and from the items her craftsmen created for her, but they paled in comparison to those lucky players that acquired high-level Unique ranked and above items.

However, with her newly upgraded Calamity, she was certain that this Unique Legacy Weapon of hers was bound to be even more incredible than the weapons any of the other players had seen.

Maria was speechless from the upgrade and could only open her mouth and say, “...Wow.”

She once more opened up her [Status Menu] to see her updated attributes.

“[Status].”

When she saw her renewed stats, Maria couldn’t help but exclaim in shock.

“Holy Crap?!”
