Scratch, Howl, and Thunderbolt explored the small hut that belonged to Valerian and Rose.

"They're not going to find us in here?" Scratch wondered.

Valerian shook her head. "I've contained this place years ago, we should be safe." Suddenly, they all heard scratching at the door. The boys braced themselves. Valerian opened the door and there stood Shadow and the nameless wolf.

Shadow didn't look up from the floor; he didn't even say anything. He walked over to the farthest room, away from everyone.

Rose looked at her brother with concern, Valerian put a hand on her shoulder. "Give him some space." She whispered.

Rose nodded and looked down at the wolf.

"Thank you."

The wolf bowed his head.

Valerian decided to feed the wolves that night, she went to the room Shadow lay and put a piece of venison right next to him. Scratch decided to follow her in. When she left, he attempted to wake him, and succeeded. Shadow looked at him.

Shadow looked away, then back at Scratch. "I deserved it."

Scratch shook his head. "No, I understand what you were going through and I decided to be an ass about it."

Shadow shook his head. "Scratch, it's not your fault. I should be the one apologizing. Look, it's not easy to just get betrayed by someone, then forgive them minutes later. I understand your resentment for me that time. I didn't want to do it, but she would've done worse things to me if I didn't obey."

"She's not in full control of you! You're the Necromancer after all!"

Shadow cracked a smile, then got serious. "I know she's not in full control of me, but I had to do what I must in order to survive."

Scratch looked down at the floor, then glanced at Shadow. "That's how I feel about her sometimes..."

Shadow scoffed. "I KNOW! I can hear your thoughts!"

Both of them laughed.

Then Shadow fell silent. "I'm sorry, Scratch. For everything."

Scratch smiled at him. "Thanks. I'm sorry too."

"You don't have much time until they arrive." Shadow warned.

Scratch nodded. "I know, that's why we need your help."

"Doing what?"

Scratch explained the plan to him.

"I - I don't know how to do it!"

Scratch smirked. "That's why Valerian's going to teach you!" Shadow nodded.

"Come." Scratch said. "Let's go talk to the others."
