The black wolf dodged the trees and slipped under a boulder to get into his den; she was right behind.

"Why are you here? You need to leave!" The wolf panted.

She tilted her head. "Gabriel?"

The wolf cocked his head. "Who the hell is 'Gabriel'?"

The girl looked in his eyes and noticed that they were as blue as winter.

"Not who?"

"My brother.....he lost his soul to Scarlett many years ago."

"Ah." The wolf said. "So you're looking for Shadow?"

The girl tilted her head. "Shadow?"

"That's the name he goes by now. You said his name's Gabriel?"

She nodded.

"Interesting.." The wolf sighed softly and scooted himself. "Please, come sit down, I don't bite.......the only thing I do bite around here are the ground squirrels."

She shrugged before placing herself on the ground next to the mysterious black wolf.

"So, you got a name?"

"I don't remember..." The wolf answered while shaking his head.

"Family? Friends?"

"No memories of any either. It's part of the curse......soon, it will swallow me whole, I won't even have a consciousness." The wolf looks at her, then turns his head back.

"You're lucky I haven't reached that point yet, you would've been dead meat if I was fully gone."
